- Join us as we repair some minor rust under the urethane windshield glue. This is a very common issue on vehicles that have had their glass replaced previously. If you address this issue early, it will simply be surface rust instead of pinholes in the steel.
Update*** The vehicle I first performed this procedure on over three years ago is still leak and issue free. The vehicle pictured in this video has been daily driven for over 9 months and is leak and issue free.
The glass shop expressed 0 apprehension in installing and warranting a windshield over this repair.

Should you not prime and paint surface?
I have a nice temporary windshield plastic installed I have to repair rust too
I'm doing a similar repair. Are you using the 3m 08115 panel bonding adhesive? And 3m windshield urethane adhesion will go right on top then the windshield?
How much would a job like this cost
Where is your shop at ?
Wouldn`t you want Epoxy and seal the bare metal then apply the 3m? Surprised the glass guy approved that/.Ya know how they get lol
Hi, where are you located? I have a 96 silverado Leaking windshield, with some spots of rust. Thanks, Maryanne pls feel free to email me if you have time. I live in central florida
I may have missed it, but I didn't hear why you were putting on the Adhesive. What's it for? Doesn't look like you're gluing anything on there.
To protect the metal and give the new glass a good surface to be glued to
@@LockersGarage is it not good to prime and paint the surface before hand to make sure it remains sealed?
@@Visionn777yes the metal should have been sprayed with a protective primer
It seems you are so good at doing this kind of work, why can't you also place the windshield? It's not that complicated. I'm about to do just that and it's my first time.
How can you say "it's not that complicated" without having done it yourself? 😅
@@slydways01 I've watched youtube videos on replaceing windshields. And that's what I did.
why not use POR-15? its a lot cheaper lol
POR can only work over rust according to the instructions so I skipped it on this repair.
It does have it's uses though.
