Welcome to our latest family adventure where we decided to head over to Wekiwa Springs State Park in Apopka, FL. We’ve visited this place several times, but thought it would be a nice treat for us to take you along with us and show you what this place has to offer. So come with us on a journey filled with excitement, nature, and a little bit of water. 💦🌄👣
On this adventure we decided to do something that’s in Florida and headed down to a state park called Wekiwa Springs State Park, which is in Apopka. We’ve taken the girls here several times to get some walking in, but this time we wanted to showcase what was at the park.
Wekiwa Springs State Park is a natural gem. The park's centerpiece is the beautiful Wekiwa Springs, which offers a refreshing 72-degree year-round natural spring where visitors can swim. The springs pump out around 42 million gallons of crystal-clear water daily, forming the headwaters of the Wekiva River.
Wekiwa Springs State Park offers extensive recreational activities, including hiking, kayaking, and canoeing. There are over 25 miles of trails for hikers, bikers, and horseback riders, offering scenic views and a chance to explore the area's natural beauty. Additionally, the park has full-facility campgrounds and primitive camping areas for those looking to extend their stay overnight.
The park is also equipped with picnic pavilions, a nature center that provides educational exhibits and information about the local ecosystem, and concessions for renting equipment or buying snacks. This makes it a perfect destination for a family outing or a peaceful retreat into nature.
One of the highlighted parts of this park was getting to see where Wekiva River meets the spring! 😱 The scenery heading around the trail was amazing. We had a wonderful time visiting Wekiwa Springs State Park. Being able to take the girls here and walk through the trail and see what the park has to offer was definitely fun and enjoyable.
If you’re considering visiting Wekiwa Springs State Park, we highly recommend taking the time to come visit. One thing to remember is to make sure you arrive early before it opens as you might not get a parking spot, but also bring your bathing suits, so you can enjoy getting into the spring and have a great time doing it. 🩱🩳
