Very cool, I actually fished on the Helen H many years ago when it was in Brookly NY! So cool to see it working the sea and was like I was on there! Lots of tight lines!!! Good stuff!
FishJonesBeach there were only a few who voiced objection and I was one of them..the co was polite and i politely told him to fuck off..and stay away from cooler..i mentioned loudly to the guys around me well i guess todays the day i get shot or arrested..this practice is bull and simple intimidation and gestapo tactics..all over a friggin fish! Get real..as i understand it the captain is only responsible to tell his fares the rules and regs(limits,sizes.etc) once done it is on the individual fisherman/women to decide wether to comply. While i don't make it a practice to keep a short fish or more than my allotted limit..traveling 10-12 hrs and the cost involved for me to fish 275 miles away from home i have taken a short --if that was the only thing i caught all day once or twice for the table..am i ashamed? NOPE! embarrassed...even less so. Todays rules and regs are bullcrap we all know it..Capt James as well as the CO acted professionally and were kind to each other..but beneath the surface you could see the grin and enjoyment the CO got from screwing with the fishermen and the PARTY VESSAL..And i could see the disgust Capt James felt as his patrons were being accosted and stopped from fishing on his boat...Its a right that should be stripped..no co should be allowed to board Professional Licensed For Hire Vessals that display the License while at sea.

Why do they gaff the fluke? Don't they have a net on the boat? You ruin the fillets by getting them.

Party boats always gaff keeper fluke, double and triple rigs would take an hour to untangle in a net.

I use a nylon mesh bag and bleed em in the water over the side works great ! Then throw em on ice with a little salt water
Honestly I wasn’t impressed with this trip ...I have better fluke spots inshore that I can fish out of a 16 footer a half mile from shore .. doormats !! Early in the year I fish a river system they spawn in and the average fish is at least 5 pounds with a 10 pounder every other trip at least

You risk gaffing undersize fish and the gaff shots I saw in this video were mostly in the body. Switch to nets!! Like everyone else!!!!

@@wilk7958 it just bothers me that they do is all. I’m sure they accidentally make mistakes and gaff undersize fish maybe not as much but still I would be pissed if they don’t get headshots. Gaffs are meant for tuna and Pelagics.
