    Still rocking my 2016 Super Tacks... Spent almost $1,000 on them, so I'm gonna stick with them until at least 2026. Those AS3's look amazing though, and I would love a chance to try them out!

    Hello Chris,
    again a nice video! But I think some questions are still to be answered:
    - How does the AS3 compare vs. AS2?
    - How will the acquisition of Stepsteel affect the new runners?
    - How does the AS3 compare vs. the new Bauer, also vs. 1st and 2nd generation?
    It would be nice if you could mention something of the above in your future videos... and if you could speak 10% slower for the international audience 😉

    That wear area right behind the toe cap, will be a problem. They added it in the AS1 because the previous generation would get shredded on the ice.

    I tried these on a few months ago. Getting myself the custom fit with these. They have an excellent feel, super light, and now they own STEP steel... Sorry but my 2sPro's are being retired.
    Edit, the liner is different from when I last seen these. It was a vendor sample so I was expecting possible changes. They were already comfortable and were about a half size smaller than I currently wear.

    •  Před 4 lety +1

      Pryde97 So you made a 3D Scan to get them fit? Or total custom pro route?

    • @Pryde97
      @Pryde97 Před 4 lety

      For the Bauer 2spro's I used the for 3d scanner at our shop, and the True skates the 3d camera with their iPad scanner software. Waiting on my rep to give me the go ahead to use the 3d CCM scanner for a custom pair. The ones I tried on were vendor samples when we were shown upcoming products. They were a little tight on one foot and near perfect on my other foot. Just got lucky to have the right for size to match the sample.

    Very nice review. I wish the AS1’s were not sold out everywhere in my size already. As much as I would love to get my hands on the AS3 Pros, I don’t think it would do well being a roller hockey boot. Taking out that bumper by the toe box the materials will get shredded much faster in my opinion. Amazing looking skate, and the tongue swapping feature is amazing for an out of the box skate, but I don’t think it is for me 😞

  • @kevinchow6377
    @kevinchow6377 Před 4 lety

    Chris, so in your expert opinion, which skate is better? You only highlighted the upgrades to the new AS3 and didn't provide any sort of conclusion. I would imagine a lot of people would guess newer is better, but I would argue that value for money the AS1's provide more than enough high-end features for the average player seeking top end gear. The XS holder is nice if you're regularly changing steel but for the players who can afford these skates and are on the ice 2-3 times per week, the AS1 would be more than sufficient. As for the carbon, perhaps they dialed up more of the actual carbon fibre and reduced less fibreglass in the boot shell - what about the tendon guard? Looks like that is now carbon fibre in lieu of the standard reinforced plastic. As for the tongues, another nice feature but if you're spending that much on skates, you would most likely have them baked and fitted in a pro shop so that they were pre broken in so you wouldn't need to keep swapping out. I would have loved more information on their insole and how it competes with a Superfeet footbed.

      @StillAliveAndKicking_ Před 4 lety +1

      Probably as good as no difference, apart from changeable tongues. These dry liners are no great shakes in my experience. A large part of ‘upgrading’ is marketing, to keep the product fresh, and encourage those who want the latest to buy them.

    • @Pryde97
      @Pryde97 Před 4 lety +1

      I fully agree. CCM has already caught Bauer in protective equipment and they are ahead with sticks. As far as the gimmick comment, no way. These things are legit. Some of the tech improvements already held up in the Jetspeed FT2 and the AS1. They are very durable and the shot protection is improved.
      I have custom 2sPros and True skates both with enhanced shot protection. Both are great but neither has the matched light weight feel off the AS3. Only skate I haven't put my hands on and will not make an opinion is the Ultra Sonic's. I won't make judgement because I have not seen them yet.

    • @stpierreorama

      It's mostly marketing bs. Conor mcdavid or any elite player could be wearing his Original jetspeeds for the rest of his career and maintain his elite skating without ever exploring the newer models.
      Crosby had the most success with pump Reebok's that are now obsolete
      These skates can only make marginal imporvements. It's the training, practice and conditioning that makes the vast majority of a players abilities not the equipment.
