#AlexiLalas #USA - Sport
That win cost Escobar his life.
I was just thinking about that. The drug war added another casualty and this makes me more sad than happy about the game.
But it wasn’t the USA’s fault
@@sway2000 the drug war had nothing to do with his death. there are couple of versions to what really happened. one was that the guy that ordered him killed lost a lot of money betting on Colombia in the World Cup...another was that he and and the guy that ordered the hit got into a shouting match over a parking spot at 2 in the morning at a nightclub or bar
just to make it more precise ...Andrés Escobar and not pablo escobar:)
I remember him when he played against Romania at the 1994 FIFA World Cup! A good player indeed! ;)
Thanks for everything Alexi!
I remember I saw this Man in Padova... He plays Football for Padova and was a Singer+ Guitar in a Band
Legend. At 12 him and Cobi Jones were everything
Man I loved this guy in Six Feet Under.
Alexi Lalas rocks!
you must have never watched soccer before because alexi is a below average player. But that is your opinion
josh arendse in fact I never seen him play I watched a few highlights of alexi lalas and to me he's great in the pitch
Tio Sam has played soccer too!
Great Lalas
Such an underrated football player
Good player, awesome commentator.
He is on FIFA 16
Yes
what rating do you think he'll get
+Thai Tran he is an 86
Is it confirmed?
+Thai Tran Probably 81 or 83
Lalas great player
Interesting he said just get out of the group and it’s a success, I’ve heard others say just don’t embarrass themselves
Expectations of the US team have changed over the years. They only just made it to Italy in 1990, which was the first time they made it pass qualifying for years. Despite losing all three games in the group stage, just getting to the group stage was seen as a success.
In 1994, some thought they would become the first host-team to not get through to the knockout stage, but again they did and eventually lost a narrow game to the eventual winners, Brazil. That was seen as a success.
But as the achievements got better, so does expectations... so not getting to the group stage in 1998, or not making it out of qualifying in 2018 are seen as failures and embarrassments - it is expected that the team achieve a certain milestone as a bare minimum. They don't want to go back to just being happy to be there, they want to be competitive and they want to win... as all teams do.
This is cra cra
Yes, Alexi Lalas is a sub-par commentator for ESPN, this coming from an American. But there is no sense in saying dumb, ignorant things like "stick to NASCAR you Yankees." The sport IS growing in the United States. The national team could be mediocre forever and I wouldn't mind, so long as the sport gains more respect amongst Americans. And by the way, it's called football...
In the game v Colombia, the referee called an offside on a clear goal that Lalas scored from on position. To add insult to injury, the referee showed a yellow card to him for complaining. He also almost scored a header that Oscar Cordoba, the Colombian goalkeeper, deflected from the backpost.
I came here specifically looking for that offsides. I remember the replays showing that call was controversial at best
alexi lalas! hes one of the all time best USA players and now he announces on espn
Who predicted Columbia to win the World Cup?
Pele
that's not a terrible prediction
Yup, and year before WC, Colombia defeat Argentina 5:0. That was incredible.
Colombia had qualified by defeating Argentina 5-0 in Buenos Aires.
MrClumsy258 kind of the reason why Escobar was murdered
I would trade 1,000000 alexi "moments" for 1 living andres escobar
that dude doesn't age xd
This game killed a player :(
Great player, weak commentator
hahhahaa "favorite to win the world cup", yeah right!
Carlos Andres Ramirez Moreno Yes they were, there is a famous story where colombians say that they would have won if Pelé didn't said they would
+Carlos Andres Ramirez Moreno Yeah Pele said that Colombia was going to win it that year
Lalas .. Balboa

Ola
who?
he's the only guy in the series that has no highlights, just talk. average player at best
23handsomerob he was a great player. People is the idiot coach in 98' never played him a single minute
voteHe went on to start and play all ninety minutes in the four U.S. games of the 1994 FIFA World Cup and was named an honorable mention All-Star.d
Not going to lie. I hate Alexi Lalas during the Euro. lol
1994 World cup uniforms were horrible
they were classic
@@forshigity5000 Agree. I love the alternative uniform from the USA team. I would love to have the t-shirt from Lalas. Such an underrated player. People who doesn't have a clue of what football really is, don't understand the importance of Lalas, especially in the 94 World Cup.
@@alejandroduqueparraguez4562 Bro Escobar own goals costed his life and This Was One Of The Worst World Cups After Escobar Got Killed By Hitmans
And Escobar being murdered
lol...

ssssssooooccceerrrrr jajajaja
Jose Jaime ok?
+Maria Valencia what sport did your country create that didn't get wiped off the face of the planet by conquistadors?
stop being racist calling people gringo
he is Greek!
That's odd. Because he's like a cult hero for the U.S. MNT (I know he was born in Greece but to American parents)
+The Soccer Patriot He wasn't born in Greece to American parents. He was born in the U.S. to Greek father. That makes him Greek-American. The Greek language, aswell as the English ofcourse, is native to him so I'm sure he identifies as Greek-American.
He's American
That's all that matters
He bleeds red white & Blue!
U.S. is the land of immigrants what are we supposed to be? i'm second generation Greek american, If you grow up here you're american.
What a bellend lol
The US could do the WC every 4 years no problem.
