    I’m not a Nintendo console owner currently, but our GameCube broke when I was younger and my dad called Nintendo support when it was several years out of warranty. They replaced it free of charge, they basically ensured I’d continue being a gamer growing up, and it’s just amazing to think that a company was that willing to help its customers out. I’ll honestly never forget that. Thought I’d share a cool little story from my childhood.

They weren't able to fix it but they asked if we wanted to buy a refurbished GameCube and 2 video games for 45 bucks, so that we weren't left completely empty handed.

    The reason why the N64 had such a weird controller and a trigger on the middle handle was because they wanted you to be able to choose between using a D-pad, (By holding it normally), or using the Analog Stick, (By holding the middle and right handle). Hope this helps you understand the weird N64 controller design.

    • @shaun8062
      @shaun8062 Před 2 měsíci

      You know what's cool? You can actually play all of N64's best first person shooter games using the D-pad for strafing and movement while using your right hand in the middle for aiming and shooting, more similarly to how hand assignments are used in modern first person shooters like call of duty. Some early literature from nintendo even suggested using the d-pad for first person shooters. No one back then seemed to do it though, as they assumed the yellow c-buttons were the way, which was fine, but those buttons make it hard for anyone to go back to play goldeneye today. When I show them you can use the D-pad, kids pick it right up like any other dual controls on first person shooters (phone games, playstation, xbox etc.)

      Also it was weaker in raw power than the competition... but not thaaaaat weak, not like Wii vs PS3 and Xbox 360 level, but somewhat weaker than the Game cube and Xbox. This allowed the PS2 to be way cheaper (mainly in developing countries) while still sharing games with the competitors.
      The Xbox was the most powerfull, thus the most expensive, people would not choose it over the cheaper ones, the game cube and the PS2. The game cube was the one in the middle term in terms of power and price, but the mini DVDs made it harder to pirate gamnes... the PS2 was the cheaper one AND used regular DVDs, so pirating was very very easy... the console itself was cheaper and the games were almost for free in developing countries (piracy) making it the really only possible option for the average joe in huge developing countries like Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and etc.

      The Wii U wasn’t bad, it was the marketing’s fault that made it a failure.

      @@0n1c420 Still has more responsive controls than the Wii U. The input delay on the Switch is terrible, and i miss the DS style gameplay with 2 screens (when the execution is good).
      Some of the Switch's best selling games are Wii U games, Wii U also created Super Mario Maker which is not the same without 2 screens.

    My first console was a switch, and the simple interface made it very easy for me to understand! Also, its a hybrid, so its very versatile. Probably the best console in history. Fight me

    Love Nintendo. I grew up playing Zelda, Mario and Starfox. My most beloved system from my childhood was the N64. In recent years though, I really actually enjoyed the Wii. I loved the versatility of being able to play both Wii and Gamecube games, as well as download games via the virtual channel. I had a Wii U too, but was kinda meh to me. Hated playing games on the gamepad and the pro controller always seemed kinda clunky to me.

    Best part is watching you try to use the N64 controller reaching over to the analogue from the side handle. Use Centre grip lol

    Hey Arun as a big n64 fan I'd like to point out that when using the joystick you are supposed to hold the controller in the middle with your left hand and the button on the back is then used as the L button.

    The first TV (using an NES) is blurry not because it has a "lower resolution" than the TV on an SNES, the TV needs to re-adjust the "focus" potentiometer which located inside the back of the TV..

    • @windows7startbutton
      @windows7startbutton Před rokem

      True, the SNES and the NES have the same resolution but the SNES supports more colors.

    • @crestofhonor2349
      @crestofhonor2349 Před rokem

      Yes. The N64, NES, and SNES all output the same resolution, 240p. Even the Gamecube and Wii could output 240p. The Wii even used 240p for it's virtual console games, which always looked best on a CRT

    7:30 you're holding the controller wrong.
    You're supposed to move your left hand to the middle part when using the stick, making it easy to hit the shoulder button.

    When I was young, around 7-ish, my family found an NES in our attic. This was around 2007-2010, and it was wild looking back that I grew up playing the original mario bros. I think I still remember some of the secret passageways from all those years back.
