I was literally just gonna comment this..
To reduce the stickiness of rice id recommend washing it prior! It removes the starch and takes just an extra 5 minutes! (You fill the rice-cooker bowl with the dry rice and fill it with water, massage the rice until the water is clearer, and repeat until its semi-transparent)
Tech guys don't know the absolute basics of cooking, which can be an issue when reviewing kitchen tech.
@@cichlisuite2 this might be the absolute basics of cooking but not everywhere, you know
@@asas-eq5qt it's the basics of making any food. Washing it is step 1
Also unless it's a specific kind of rice (for example basmati), all rice in Japan is sticky by default, since it is eaten with chopsticks (if it wasn't sticky you would need to eat each grain of rice one by one)
I was wondering before he grabbed that bag of rice if he is going to rinse the rice until water is clear. And then proceeded to try to find this comment to see if anyone else called him up on it.
Everybody! Wash your rice first, totally worth it. (Also cheap rice cookers are amazing if you eat rice regularly and dont have one yet!)
Fun Fact, there was actually another company in Japan called "Logitec" (it's spelled the same as Logitech in Japanese), and they were in Japan before Logitech was able to open up anything in Japan, so Logitech had to change their name to Logicool in Japan only to avoid a name conflict.
So they came first but had to change their name?
@@EikottXDread it again but slowly
@@EikottXD It was Logitech who changed their name, not the Japanese company Logitec.
Sort of a Hungry Jack's situation I see
Yes, this is the right explanation why Logitech is Logicool in Japan.

This 40 minutes long video felt very short. Arun really knows how to keep his viewers engaged
I didnt even realise it was that long
Matpat did a vid on it lol. Basically he breaks the vid up into small 1-2 min sections(so just tiktoks lol) to have the benefit of the instant hit of dopamine of tiktok/short form content
We need more long videos

Woah that didn’t feel like a 40min video knowing that our attention spans these days are all too short because of tiktok and reels. Arun really knows how to create engaging and entertaining videos!! 😮
its like 40 tiktoks/reels all put together, how long it is doesn't matter.
I didn't even know it was 40mins long until your comment!! 😮
me too i realize it after end of the video 🤣🤣🤣
I mean the "reviews" (I know they're not reviews I just don't know what term to use) are basically as long as a Tiktok video. It's my gripe with this channel, really. He's always making compilation videos that are incredibly shallow and unsatisfying. I like the idea behind the video so I watch it but after I'm done I'm always left feeling like I got nothing out of it. I guess this works for him so it's not gonna change but I WISH this channel was more in depth than "wow! so cool! anyway, next product...".
Woah i realized it from your comment 😮
I'm a huge fan of mrwhosetheboss and a huge fan of Abroad in Japan... It is the best collab I could've asked for!!!

Tech in Asia is DEFINITELY different compared to western tech!
You can find pretty much anything you thought you wanted without any fuss. My dad always brings home 4-7 packages filled with tech stuff, Japanese sweets, or beauty products because it’s way more convenient.
Logitech has been making trackball mice since the beginning. You can buy them here too they're just not that common.
People with occupational injuries sometimes use them.
Aaah those little trackballs you could clip on the side of your (luggable) laptop back in the day, before the touchpad
I'm in the UK and I've had a trackball mouse for many years, once you get used to them they are so much more comfortable and easier to use and also feel so much more intuitive than a normal mouse, wouldn't swap for anything.
This is so surreal. I've been letting the Abroad in Japan channel build up videos to binge, and after the Frozen Frontier series, I went back to another video from Arun to finish it, and I was like "Oh yeah! There's a new video, I wanna watch that!" And now seeing Chris walk in was like...
The only way I can express the feeling was imagine you watch a TV show, and then switch to another TV show, only to see the character from the other TV show nonchalantly walk in. Like, what?

Trackballs were popular here in the US back in the early 2000s. I had a few Trackball Opticals from Microsoft over the years and I LOVE trackballs! Sadly, aside from like Logitech, they sort of vanished. I used to use them to play first person shooter games and got very proficient using it. My friends never understood how I could do so well, using a trackball lol 😊

That trackball mouse is something I used at my job back in the late 80s, early 90s. You’ve never seen one before?!
This was a great collab! Love to watch both yours and Chris’s channels.
That store completely blows my mind. I could be in there for days…
Love the longer video, btw. This was enjoyable to watch.
The trackball part made me laugh. Something incredibly common in the US even up to 2005ish. I have used both thumb and index trackballs and I am only 34.
Yeah. It blew my mind that a tech professional had never seen nor heard of a trackball.
They were (and are still) pretty popular in the pro studio market for audio consoles. Personally I hate them but if you don’t have real estate to move a mouse they do a great job. People that use them though swear by them.
A coworker in my office is using one right now.
My dad had one when I was a kid and when I saw the ball could pop out I was constantly stealing it so he’d hang out with me which is…a lil sad but also funny.
The brand BOSE has a neck speaker (wireless and Bluetooth) like the one you bought. I tried one at the store and was super comfortable. The sound was incredible almost like the sound is around you, different experience...
Funny seeing you drop the ball out of the Kensington Track mouse! - I own one and literally the first thing that happened as I opened the box was exactly what happened to you, dropped the ball and chased it across the floor!
I think I can go an entire day exploring this shop without rest or food, genuinely amazing.

i haven't been to japan for nearly thirty years, but when i went they had stuff we still don't have over here, they do water based car wax that is easy to apply and polish and repels water, and glass coating that repels water much better than anything i've seen in the UK. also they coat their toilets with an anti bacterial that means you never have to clean the toilet, unless you want. i can't even remember the electronic goods that was in stores, but it's still not appeared over in the UK. my ex is japanese and my fav thing was the kiddies buggy we bought, one button to open it and one button to fold it away.
when we first got married, 1995, we went to register it with the local prefecture - everything is paper, they don't do anything official in japan with computers, its papers and family seals and the registry office was floor to ceiling wooden plan chests of documents. my in laws had f15's and blackhawks circling their house 24/7 too, they live next to an airbase.
Everything is soooooo expensive!!

I'm actually surprised the speaker is the first item that came with a pair of white gloves. I have purchased a LOT of products directly from Japanese manufacturers and almost ALL of them have a pair of cloth white gloves in the package. It's a thing over there, and personally I think it's a good thing.
In the US, we used to have a department store chain before Internet shopping took over. It was called Best Products. You would shop and check the items to make sure they were what you wanted. You would then take the ticket, pay for the item, and they would bring it from the warehouse in the back to the pick up counter. It was marketed as a catalog store that allowed you to test out the products before buying.
for the neckband speakers, they're also amazing for if you're in a noisy environment where you also still need to hear. let's say for a warehouse worker. earbuds don't work because you might have heavy machinery like a forklift rolling around you occasionally, but they still allow music speakers. the neckband speakers would be great for you! i actually personally use a pair every day for my own job as a forklift operator.
Bose and Monster sell their own neck speakers and I own a set from Monster for being cheaper than Bose.
And you don't need to go to Japan to get some
some higher end earbuds have Transparency Mode where the bud's built in mic actually allows you to be able to also hear your surroundings
@@gigihanmandarinI've got the Bose one, and I'll be very sad when it dies because they're discontinued

The ball mouse is called a trackball, pretty useful especially helping reduce RSI. its been available for years in the west but we hardly made a fuss about it. Also for fine control, you can use a hotkey on your keyboard to move super slow to be accurate.
I feel the opposite. I set the track speed to the fastest (once you get used to using the mouse), and you'll develop pretty good control at that setting.
Missile Command used it first
track balls been around for decades, and yes ppl with RSI use them as you said in my work.
I was using a Logitech trackball and trackman marble about 15 years ago…
The trackball been available since the early 1990s. But mrwhostheboss was born in 1995, so I guess it's never really been popular in his conscious lifetime. To me, it's 1990s throwback technology that a few arthritic legal secretaries used at the law firms I've worked at. But the popularity of the trackpad on laptops really prevented adoption of the trackball, which was the only alternative mouse option for desktop users. It's cute he talks about it as cool Japanese tech.
The leg "workout" device, is actually for helping with varicose veins, peripheral arterial disease etc. At least that's why I bought a device similar to this, with the same EMS tech, for my mum. She seems to think it has been helping so far
