    Thanks for the video. I have a 2007 Chevy Avalanche LTZ and I was so confused when I was trying to pull out the filter which was really just the plastic piece. I cut it out myself with a box cutter... not the easiest thing to do.. but got it done... there was so much debri that fell out when i cut out that plastic "door"... and there was so much debri up in the metal screen.. I vacuumed it out best i could with the shop vac and then brushed the metal screen with a soft wire brush while vacuuming.. finally i reversed the shop vac connection and "blew out" the rest of the dust... I replaced the filter in according to your instructions. Thank you again for this video.

      @Craigs_car_care  Před rokem

      @@allisonlebbink1197 Great question Allison and I'm glad you asked it. If it has a filter in there then it has a door to unbolt to let the dirty filter filter come out And then reinstall the new one. If there's no door there for it then your options are to continue running with it the way it is or if it has the place four-door then there needs to be a one-time area cut out that allows filters to be replaced and a door kit installed. Once it's done the first time it's just a matter of changing filters each time. Doing the filter itself is pretty straightforward sometimes some of these have a lower panel that's kind of a pain to get out and back in each time. We have many people have a shop put the door kit in the first time then after that the client takes over changing the filters to save future money on labor.

    • @Craigs_car_care
      @Craigs_car_care  Před 2 lety +1

      That is a really good question, most Silverados will either have the door or a place to put one in. Most of them are where the video shows but some have pointed out that there are a few oddballs with it behind the glove box.

    Or is that something else?

    • @Craigs_car_care
      @Craigs_car_care  Před 2 lety

      Great question!, It can reduce the air flow but it is very unlikely that it would stop all air flow. If there is no airflow at all and you cannot hear the blower motor running, then start with checking the fuses and go from there.

    • @Craigs_car_care
      @Craigs_car_care  Před rokem

      It may need the kit install, involves having a small area removed from the bottom of the case to expose where the filter goes and then a little door with a screw goes in its place. If you're not familiar with where this could be or and how it works you can have a local shop do the first install for you and after that you can change all your own filters moving forward.

    • @Craigs_car_care
      @Craigs_car_care  Před rokem

      It may have the place to do the cut out, best advice is to ask your regular shop to check it for you and if you want you can have them install the door and first filter once they look. after that you can do all future replacements. Also some of the early ones were behind the glove box area. Thanks for the great question.

      Hi, If you do not see the door with the one bolt after removing the lower panel it has probbly not had one yet and needs the kit that we mentioned. You only have to do it once to have a door for future filter replacements. The kits show you where to cut the factory plastic. Many people have a shop do their first one then they take over replacing the filters after that.

      @@gregtubbs5667 Hi Greg, it would need to be looked at to be for sure. But it sounds like it might need to have the door kit installed and then you can start using the filters if you wanted to do that. If you have a regular shop you use, you might swing by and ask them to take a look at it for you and you can even have them do the door install and the first filter and then after that you could do it and then on out. If it does have the space for the door and you'd like to go after it the door kits come with the instructions on how to use a utility knife to cut out the space for it. Thank you for letting us know 😌.

    From what I've found, the 2008 Chevy Silverado doesn't have a cabin air filter. The filters aren't available on any Silverado models between 2007-2013. You will have to cut away some plastic to mod your ventilation system. Ughhhh!

    • @Craigs_car_care
      @Craigs_car_care  Před 2 měsíci

      Hi and thanks for the comment. Yes and No. We have learned that different parts of the world have different options for cabin air filters. Many of the US models either came with them from factory or like you mentioned the owner has to add the kit by removing a plastic cut out area and adding a door and the first filter.

  • @babarehner
    @babarehner Před 2 lety +3

    It is my understanding that the 2003-2010 does not have a cabin air filter, just a nonreplaceable screen. There is a kit to modify the ducts/plenum to add an air filter. So please change the start of the Cabin Air Filter Replacement to 2010. Good quality video but I do feel a little miffed since I ordered a filter and no slot to install it- at least until I cut one out.

    • @Craigs_car_care
      @Craigs_car_care  Před 2 lety

      That's a good point, there are many conversations in this group where we talk about some have to have the factory slot cut out and the "kit" a door and a screw plus the filter installed. Some readers have a shop do the part that cuts out the slot for the door in the factory working and then from then on they do their own filters several others have actually taken a standard utility knife and cut the slot out themselves and added the aftermarket door and screw themselves. If you have the slot on your 2010 don't give up on having a filter installed so you can have cleaner air from now on out. Thanks for posting great question great comment. We appreciate your feedback.
