    I live in Bologna and here most of the girls wear the exact sneakers that you mentioned plus black jackets and skinny jeans.oh and most girls have their hair straight. I understand fashion but I don't get trends. What's the point of looking the same as everyone else on the street? Personally I prefer to have my own style and wear it with confidence. If people like it even better.

    • @misstiataylor_

      +Sarv oh yea blue jeans, sneakers, and a leather jacket for Italian girls are like the uggs, leggings and north face (is that still a thing?) for American girls 😂 it’s fun to be unique but I don’t think anyone wants to stick out like a sore thumb... I like picking up trends that I like and flatter my body but I also like dressing how I like. In the end I’m still refining my style but I’m trying to see if I can get a perfect mix of north east cost USA and milan put together 😈 we’ll see

      yeah but if only there are different trends available to pick up from.Bologna is a student city as you know and you rarely see young people wearing classy or elegant clothes. It's more common among older generation.I guess students prefer something comfy and stylish at the same time so sneakers,jeans and jackets are the way to go apparently :D good luck with your looks :*

    The Vans trend really makes me laugh, when I was in high school those were the sneakers only the "skater/emo/alternative" type of kids would wear and I went through at least two pair of them because I was trying to follow that trend. Fashion really comes around!

    I live in Rome and here it’s really big the “sportswear” trend. Everything that is Nike, Adidas, Champion, Puma, Emporio Armani, Ralph Lauren, The North Face etc... is considered very fashionable for both boys and girls. In this period there isn’t a sneaker of the year, I have seen a lot of different shoes of different types of brand (mostly Nike and Adidas). I can also say that there is the loose jeans trend but skinny jeans are still pretty big. The video was pretty accurate tho.

    Unfortunately in Italy (or at least in the south where I used to live) EVERYBODY dresses the same. Same pair of jeans, same sneakers, same jackets, same hair color. I was always criticized in school for wearing something different. I was the only one in school to wear sandals while people where boiling their feet in tennis shoes because it was the trend. Everyone is so obsessed about looking like everyone else that is crazy. If you have a look on Saturday nights on the main street of my hometown everyone is dressed kinda similar. And it is depressing. I live in Australia now and I feel more relaxed here and I can express more my personal style. I still dress like an Italian because I was born in that environment but I add my personal twist

    • @misstiataylor_
      @misstiataylor_  Před 6 lety +16

      Tia Taylor well I haven't been home last summer but in Sicily until two years ago everyone was still wearing sneakers in 40°C weather, it's crazy! And if you look at people in disco clubs they are all dressed the same. Well, at least when I grew up. Maybe when people get out of high school they start dressing differently. But yours were very good observations :)

    i am from sicily and i study fashion in london but moved to america for a bit! most girls do wear skinny jeans, maybe not extreme tight but most jeans are tight, some people do wear mom jeans, but i think sicilian fashion is different. red lipstick, dark makeup, a bit more vampy but still very italian.
    i think you forgot to mention scarves and risvoltini which i see most americans don't do! for me the americans like things tighter but do not actually fit their body well (not size wise just poorly shaped clothes) and they do not finish the outfit with accessories.i think also modern american girls go for the "instagram baddie" look (ofc was HEAVY inspired by kim kardashian) and usually try to look a bit older than what they are, but theres nothing wrong with it just different styles. love this video 💖

    Ciao Tia!! Mi è piaciuto tantissimo questo video!! 💖 Per quanto riguarda l'argomento scollature, pelle scoperta e curve in mostra avrei da aggiungere qualcosa. Io sono una 44 con seno abbondante e mi piace molto esaltare le mie forme. Adoro i jeans skinny e le magliette aderenti e scollate come quella che indossi tu, il motivo per cui faccio fatica ad indossarle non è il pudore o perché tutti mi guarderebbero, ma perché al momento lo stereotipo in Italia è di ragazza molto minuta, magra, senza curve e senza seno, che si può permettere di indossare una qualsiasi scollatura anche vertiginosa senza cadere nel volgare. I brand per giovanissime propongono capi adatti solo a questo standard, basti pensare che in negozi come Tezenis, Terranova e Zara spessissimo la taglia più grande mi sta comunque piccola, e ti assicuro di non essere in sovrappeso. È una cosa che mi indispone molto, e parlandone con le mie iscritte ho constatato di non essere l'unica. I capi scollati e aderenti ci sono eccome, ma vanno di moda solo sulle ragazze con fisico da modelle!!
    Ti mando un abbraccio, continua così!! 🎀

      Ciao! C'è anche da dire che questa moda è recente, perché fino a qualche anno fa pure io non trovavo vestiti che mi andassero bene... E purtroppo sono bassa e senza forme. O erano troppo lunghi di maniche/gambe, o troppo larghi sul seno e i pantaloni larghi sui fianchi... Mentre ora trovo assurdo che in esposizione nei negozi da te citati, ma non solo, la maggior parte delle taglie siano 38, 36, 34; mentre taglie più comuni come la 40, 42, 44 e 46 siano sempre troppo poche (o forse sono io sfortunata, chissà)

    I got back from Italy a few weeks ago and definitely saw a lot of faux fur coats! And in very pretty blue and pink colors. I also noted the well fitting clothes. I feel like the fashion is very classic and well fitted and maybe with a little twist in the form of a unique detail. On the plane from JFK there was an older Italian man sitting in the same row as me. He was beautifully turned out with a very nice sweater and some really nice patterned socks and nice leather shoes. He was a senior citizen and looked fabulous (and adorable). I also feel the woman in Italy pay attention to their grooming! No matter which heair style they chose, it is always glossy and well kept and their skin is glowing with subtle but beautiful makeup... I love the Italian style!

    I would also say vintage isn’t popular in Milan whereas London and New York it has been for a while. I think vintage does actually add to both these cities being more eclectic and fun with fashion. They still look great in Milan, just more conservative. Half my wardrobe now is saved for when I go back to visit London because Milan just wouldn’t get it. I think Milan fashion is quite similar to the Scandinavians and Paris, classic styles and fits that don’t really date :)

      I have the same style, I just love it and as an Italian honestly I don't care if it's not fashionable. You should just wear it in Milan if you feel like to, not save your wardrobe for other destinations :) Anyway being Italian and loving this style can be defficult, as it's not that easy to find cute stuff. I found a little shop in Venice that sells vintage clothes and they're all imported from the UK or Germany. And speaking of Germany.. I've lived there for a while and there people just dress how they want, they're not as attentive to fashion as we are, and I think it's better that way. That's why I found many favourite pieces of my wardrobe in Germany, especially in flea markets :)

    Ciao, mi è piaciuto molto il tuo video. Vorrei aggiungere una cosa sul tema dei colori, forse ho capito male io ma credo che tu non la dica. Qui in Italia si usano determinati colori in base alla stagione ed ogni anno ci sono dei cambiamenti. Infatti questo autunno oltre ai classici colori autunnali va molto forte il vinaccia, il nero, il bianco crema ed il senape, in estate si tende a vedere colori più vivaci. Da quel che ho capito in America sono meno "esigenti" su questo tema. Spero che il mio commento sia stato costruttivo e scusami per il papiro ❤

    Parere da Roma:
    1) Mai e poi mai quelle scarpe orride. Sempre e solo VANS 😂
    2) sinceramente non credo che "vestirsi meno scollate" sia una costante della moda italiana: é un fatto di mentalità collettiva, altro discorso quindi. Io vesto scollata se mi va e tutti mi dicono "se ce le hai, mettile in mostra", quindi non so se sia un fatto che tu riscontri a Milano o meno 😂
    3) sono "curvy", molto a clessidra insomma, ma vesto con jeggins o leggins che abbracciano le forme (mai messi i mom jeans o robe simili perché - per mio gusto personale- mi sembra che mi facciano sembrare più larga);
    3) per le giacche é vero, quelle di pelle (o eco-pelle, meglio) sono sempre da tenere nell'armadio, perché piacciono;
    4) sarà che io a Milano ci sono andata sempre in periodi mediamente caldi, ma... mi stai dicendo che da novembre a febbraio la città si riempie di sosia di Crudelia De Mon? 😂

      Per le pellicce credo che sia una questione di *vecchiaia e di *status, non solo a Milano ma in tutta Italia. Le signore dai cinquanta in su mettono le pellicce o i cappotti con pelliccia se possibile nelle occasioni, perché mostra anche di essere in un certo senso "benestante"... le signore ricche le vedi sempre così, le altre, per esempio, si mettono il cappotto di fortuna per le faccende quotidiane.

    I guess that Italian and French styles are the same. In France, at least in Paris where i live, we're not really into bright colors: everyone wears blue, black, grey or white..Our style isn't extravagant at all, it's pretty elegant. French fashion wiĺl never be outdated, i guess it's because we wear "classic" things (idk how to explain lol). But teen fashion..oh god. Basically it's: sneakers (we had a Stan Smith era) leather jackets, long straight hair..that's all. It's very similar to Italy. Personnally i wear black skinny jeans everyday, with my converses (sounds emo af lmao) and i like all these rock/grunge/gothic trends that we rarely see in France

      +Ashley Davis that’s true, there’s Hollywood and they’re definitely not dressing in full black 🤔although when I think of west coast style in general I think of jeans, browns and active wear 😅 oh lots of active wear everywhere in America (I miss that)

    I'm Italian and I totally agree about the trends you talked about. I would say that crop tops are actually a big thing such as high wasted pants in general. We also have a trend with bags, Michael Kors's bags are a big thing these days. I don't feel like we tend to show less skin than in America. I used to live in Wisconsin (where the sense of fashion does NOT exist) and I used to show off more skin than other girls my age. Stan Smith and Superstars are a thing such as Vans. Leather jacket are a must-have in an italian closet. Talking about colors: I always wear black/dark colors but it's my personal style. My friends sometines wear brighter colors but mostly to accessorise. For example, if you are wearing a total black outfit you can decide to wear a red Valentino bag with coordinated shoes.

    Not very impressed with the Italian fashion. The shoes like Vans and Nike’s are always here in the US so I don’t see much of a difference. American culture is very influential and I feel like Italy has some of it. I might want a combo of US and Italy. Blue Nike sandals with gray Nike socks are my favorite. Boat shoes with socks and shorts with a button shirt is great.

    Vorrei aggiungere che gli italiani in generale amano vestirsi fini ed eleganti. Non vuol dire essere coperti.. Tutto ciò che rispetti la fisicità della persona senza risultare volgari. Una troppo formosa che si veste super attillata per noi è volgare e non è elegante.

      Jing Ya è uno schifo pensare questo di una persona solo perché formosa non dovrebbe indossare vestiti scollati sennò è volgare è disgustoso!neache chi è coperto alle volte è elegante ecco perché preferisco gli standard americani vivere in Italia è orribile per certi versi

      È la verità ma non è giusto che una persona formosa possa mettere meno cose. Se un vestito non è volgare per una ragazza magra non dovrebbe esserlo neanche per una più curvy. Non è finezza, è ignoranza

    Actually I'm from the south and we still wear dark colours, but I guess it depends on the age of the people you're talking about, but dark colours are the most used here as well.
    And I think one of the most important things is never wear leggings and boots together. Never ever ever.

    I just stumbled onto this video and totally agree. My fiance and I went to Rome in Oct 2017 and we stayed in a non-touristy area. Lets just say we stuck out like sore thumbs when we went to dinner in the clothes we wore for our flight in. I wore active wear and my man was just t-shirt and jeans. The locals were dressed for fall!!! Like it wasn't even cold enough for a leather jacket but the women wore them. That's what I really noticed though, they dressed for the season, not the weather. Needless to say I ended up buying a faux leather jacket while visiting La Spezia and totally felt like I fit in for once lol.

    Just to add something about colours, I find that in general it's true that in Italy we're aren't really "out there" when it comes to them and we prefer to stick to something more subdued, but it's more about how we do wear bright colours than not wearing them at all.
    The general rule about colours, especially bright ones, is that it's usually considered better to only conbine two of them in your outfit (one being the bright one, the other usually being something more "neutral" like black, beige, white or grey), rather than mix a lot of colours in one single outfit. This of course isn't always true and a lot depends on the type of outfit you're wearing, but in general we just find more fashionable to avoid mixing up a lot of bright colours, and to only focus on one of them as a "point" in your attire.
    This is especially true for fall/winter fashion, whereas spring/summer fashion tends to incorporate a lot more variety in colours.
