  • Matilda is our favourite hen. She doesn't cluck, she honks. She is very sweet and friendly. But now she"s sick. First we believe she's egg bound and bath her in warm water to help her lay her egg. When this fails we try to dose her with our small arsenal of herbal remedies. Apple cider vinegar, vitamin K, activated charcoal and colloidal silver are added to her water. will it work?

Oh my goodness. My heart sank when I saw the title of your video. Soooo glad Matilda recovered. My fave hen is also called Matilda 😊. I have never used colloidal silver or activated charcoal. Must get some in. Maybe she had eaten something she shouldn’t or maybe eaten too much and had the chicken equivalent of indigestion. If you ever suspect a soft egg or stuck egg you could give her some tums or rennies as the calcium apparently strengthens egg laying contractions. The baths are good too. Alls well that ends well. Sorry about poor Margaret. Take care. Mags 🌻

Thanks Mags. I didn’t know that about using rennies. It’s a good tip. Matilda is her usual honking , silly self today. I have to admit, I’d have been gutted to lose her. 🐔🐓

Someone else on CZcams shared to put Epsom salts in the warm bath for egg boundness. Glad she's recovering :)

Yes, I’ve heard a lot of people saying they use Epsom salts and I was wishing I had some yesterday. I think I’ll get some just in case. Thanks for watching 🤗

Thanks Joanna. I was wishing I’d had some Epsom salts. I’ve since been and bought some for next time. Matilda is now back to her usual comical self.🤗

Hi fiona hope you are good, I posted a pix of some onion sets my dad uses year on year and they don't bolt and last when stored. From wilko ... I tagged you but not sure if you got the notification. Xxx

Hi Tracey. I didn’t get the notification. Thanks for thinking of me. Too late for me for onions this year, mine went in in the autumn. I’ll take a look though and try them next year. I’d planned to grow onions from seed this year but I just haven’t got the extra room. Hope you’re doing well and looking forward to another year at the plot!
