It was confusing for me (and I assume it's confusing for them too) when I first heard one of the participants answer "Repent." and they were then told "Nope, won't help you." Repenting IS part of it, so I feel after they say repent, we could then say, "Yes! Repent and ALSO trust in Jesus." I know Ray always gets to that part eventually, but wondering why he does it this way.

Bc it's a script he sticks to and his message can't bc fulfilled without saying it in this order. I'm not saying a script in a bad way but a way to keep them thinking and understand what Jesus actually did for us. Sometimes people just skip that part and don't know the seriousness of sin. Some people don't understand what repentance is. Some think it means just saying sorry and trying to not do it again. However it's having a change of heart and mind and putting your faith and trust in him that he's our Savior and we'll be saved.
There's a method to his madness.
some people also think that Christians are hypocrites because they believe they can repent(and that's it) and continue to sin and they'll still go to heaven... But this is lukewarm Christianity and this isnt pleasing to God. It's quite the opposite like the pagans.

I tried to tell myself that the church was true because I liked the teaching of how the readied the bible and how loving and kind they was to me and helped when my family and needed them in hard times ... But still will think about the dream in the back of my mind (it's was a black thing above/near the Book of Mormon ... I got out of my bed so fast to turn on the light standing there under the light hoping the thing goes away ... It did and I want to back sleep ... The next the missionary came to house and I told them about the dream and they said they didn't know what it was ... So I joined the church two weeks after that ... 81/2 years .... I think it was great how Ray identified the fact that if we are relying on our works in any way, then it is no longer a gift. Also, how he clarified that repentance isn't enough. However, wouldn't it be important to clarify who Jesus is since the Mormon believes in a different Jesus? Would putting your trust in the Mormon Jesus, a created being, save you? I guess I'm suggesting that we have to make sure we clarify who Jesus is in addition to clarifying what sin is and how we will be judged.

The one true God humbled Himself and became man to pay for our sins if we put our faith in Him. The biggest act of Love ever. He isn't some self serving diety, He is a selfless serving God, Jesus came to earth to be a servant for us. Christianity is so simple and beautiful that people can't believe it is that simple.

How do I put my trust into Jesus? That is mentioned in every video as the only way to salvation, but how do I do that? Do i just say, "Jesus I trust you" and go about my day? what does it look like to live a life trusting in Jesus? I'm having so much trouble fighting the desires of my flesh, and I see in many parts of the bible that people like me will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. I repent of my sins, and I genuinely want to flee from them. Is there a point in Christianity where Jesus takes these desires away? turns a blind eye? am I expected to fight them on my own until purged (which hasn't worked)? I can trust Jesus all day long that he died for the sins, in which I'm still so entangled, but why can I not overcome? A lot of Christians say, "Jesus did it all - you're forgiven past, present, and future" , but is that supposed to make me feel better? I hate my sin, it makes me feel so dirty and terrible, it disgusts me and I know it's not who I am. I want freedom from it desperately. Not to mention, people like me "will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven" If I'm still living in sin. Please help me understand, I don't want to die like this

Anyone can be like Christ when acting from a place of pure unconditional Love. In this judgmental world, where everyone is scared of everyone, trying to control others instead of working at their side, as equals; it is quite hard to act as Jesus. Judgement day is every day. Some people prefer to call it Karma, or Law of Attraction. Sin may appear rewarding in physical life, but it's not. Only the path of Love&Light fulfills the heart. This makes heaven & hell to be right here on earth.

The one thing I really disagree with in how they approach these people is that they don't tell them Jesus said, "Go, and sin no more." They are telling people to trust Jesus, but that's only half of the truth. You need to trust Jesus to CHANGE you, make you "new creation in Christ Jesus." It's not that you can trust Jesus to pay for your past sins, but repentance itself means to be sorry and TURN from your ways. They cannot continue in their sins once they trust Jesus to pay for their past sins, it's also a trust in Him to change their hearts and leave the life of sin behind through His power.

    • @ribbonsncalico
      @ribbonsncalico Před 10 lety +16

When you first trust Jesus to save you, you are "born again" as Jesus told Nicodemus in the book of John. Your sins are forgiven. Then it"s like any newborn baby. You must grow and mature. which is where change comes in. If a baby is born with a defect and never grows up, that doesn't change the fact that the baby was born. It does mean there is something wrong. The same is true in the Christian life. You trust God to forgive your sins and take you to Heaven, then as you grow, He changes you. Change should be an EVIDENCE of salvation, but it is not a PART of salvation that you can do. Otherwise, you would have a works salvation. Just wanted to clarify. :)

    • @this_mfr
      @this_mfr Před 10 lety +5

ribbonsncalico I agree with about 3/4s of what you said, unless I'm just misunderstanding. The Bible indicates that you do not become born again unless you repent. Repentance means being sorry in such a way that you abhor and hate the sins you do. If you don't have this kind of attitude to turn from your sins, but continue to WANT them and LOVE them, then you have not been born again.
My issue with the videos is that they didn't clearly state this to the people they were talking with. It was as if they were saying Jesus will pay for their sins, but no life change needs to result. This is a deception and a lie. Maybe that's not how they meant to present it, but that's how it comes across.

      Pantheist,
The context of that command from Jesus to the rich man to give away all his possessions was not a overarching command to all people. The man came to Jesus claiming he keeps all the commandments perfectly, so Jesus reminded him that depending on earthly treasure is also a sin. The man clearly had a dependency on riches that had a hold on him because the Bible says he went away from Jesus very distraught and saddened, indicating the man had a great love of money.
"The love of money is the root of all evil."
Solomon was one of the richest men in all history, yet Jesus said even a flower is better dressed than Solomon ever ways. Jesus didn't condemn Solomon's riches, instead Jesus moved the focus onto our need to depend on Him and look beyond what we can have in this temporary life.
There's nothing wrong with being rich, the Bible states many times that God has a plan for us to be rich and satisfied. Where the problem comes in is when we depend on those riches and make them our idol.

The Book of Mormon condemns dead works, but Mormons put too much emphasis on fruits because of Matthew 7, James 2, 1 John 2, and 2 Nephi 25:23
You know, it makes sense, but that's why its so deceptive
2 Corinthians 11:4 talks about another gospel and another jesus being preached 1800 years before Joseph Smith
Galatians 1 8 talks about an angel from the sky being rejected upon preaching another gospel
Matthew 24 24 talks about the plethora of false prophets and christs that are needed to fulfill prophecy
I remember a missionary in my house talking about "this gospel" "this gospel" as he pointed to the Book Of Mormon, as if it was different than the Bible
The Book of Mormon contains 0 terrible verses and is flawless, but if it leads to another gospel and another spirit and another jesus than the one preached in the Bible than its not good and can be very damaging
I want all Mormons to give up their religion for Christ, their Salvation (probably) depends on it
I also must say that Mormons know the name of Christ well, but not the Being of Christ well
"Depart from me I never knew you"
The name of Christ is powerful and is above all names, but the Being of Christ is what is even more important than His Name
A lot of Mormons will say "it's the Church of Jesus Christ of ladder Day Saints" as if that just proves it. But the name is nothing compared to the Being, and the name is something that anyone can use to a great degree
The purpose of life is to know God and make him known, or to be Friends with Jesus basically
    NOT anything else really...

Here's what I'd like to discuss:
There is only one God, from eternity
      Isaiah 43:10
      Psalm 90:2
God is not a man, never changes
      Numbers 23:19
      Hebrews 13:8
      James 1:17
      God is a Spirit
      Genesis 1:2
      2 Chronicles 6:18
      John 4:24
Jesus says Spirits have no bodies
      Luke 24:39
No one can see God, Jesus is the "image of the invisible God"
      John 1:18
      Collossians 1:15, 2nd Corinthians 4:4
      John 14:9
Jesus gave up certain aspects about himself to fulfill his ministry (glory, power, knowledge, etc.)
      Philippians 2:6
      Jesus is God, everlasting Father
      1 Timothy 3:16
      Isaiah 9:6
Jesus was born physically of a virgin, by the Spirit (again, no flesh)
      Luke 1:35
      Isaiah 7:14
Jesus eternally/spiritually always was, and came from the Father, not a spiritual mother, then was revealed to the world.
      John 1:18
      John 1:1,3,14
      Colossians 1:16
If we are Christians we should follow what Christ Himself said:
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
      Matthew 24:35
God's revelation has never and will never pass. Our responsibility is to compare ourselves to it, to make sure we don't contradict what He said with our views or opinions!
Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
      John 5:39
And if someone comes and preaches a different Christ, or Gospel, or God, and even performs signs and wonders, even if it's an angel of light or Apostle Paul himself, don't listen!
      2nd Corinthians 11:3,4
      Deuteronomy 13:1-4
      Galatians 1:8

It's by the things they do for us, not by what they say to us. The preacher is proving his faith by preaching, and showing love for God's word and for the people

God's existence requires eternality, and eternality by definition requires that it must exist outside of time in order for it to be considered eternal to begin with. So, primarily speaking, God's existence is based on his eternality (which is entirely outside of time itself), and it is because of this eternality, that it allows for him to exist without actually needing a beginning for his existence, while at the same time still allowing him to have the ability to exist without end.

Everyone is a sinner. Everyone will make mistakes. When you believe in God you will try to not sin, but no-one is perfect and often do anyway. As long as you ask God's forgiveness he will forgive you. No-one should try to sin because they think God will forgive them anyway, but as a Christian I try my best not too and it doesn't always work. That's why we need God's grace. I hope this was helpful :)

Make no mistake, You must turn away from sin to be saved, what this means is to realize that we are sinners, Just think about how many lies you have told in your life. How many times you have blasphemed gods name, the very person who gave you life, The bible says gods standard for goodness is so high, that if you have ever been angry with someone and called them a fool, you have committed murder in your heart. God judges us all when we die, and these are the crimes we have committed against him. We will be held accountable for each and every sin we have ever committed, and if found guilty, the result is a place of eternal torment called hell. This sounds like a terrible place to be, I would not want anyone to go there, and neither does god. That's why god has prepared a way for us to be saved, it's a free gift from god that he offers all of us, When god sent his son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins, that was a legal transaction that was being taken place. Repentance means turning away from sin, realize how bad we really are, don't justify sin but turn away from it completely. plead with god to forgive you for your sins, and accept him as your Savior. This what they mean when someone says to Repent and turn to Jesus. You have to do both in order to be saved, and it's a free gift to everyone, we can't save ourselves only god can forgive us.

      Eden M,
You’re theology is not correct. Please read below from 1 John 1:
“This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”

Romans 10:9,10 if we confess with our mouth and believe in our heart that God raised Jesus from the dead you will be saved. Repentance does not lead to salvation repentance is a result of salvation. Repent means turn and go the other way. The Law shows us that we need a savior and that we are damned. The understanding of our own sinfulness leads us to the savior Christ Jesus. Putting our trust in Jesus our belief in Him shows us that we need to repent on turn from our sin.
