  • Dr James Cantor is a clinical psychologist and sexologist specialising in hypersexuality and paraphilia.
There are a broad range of things that turn humans on. Some are common, some are uncommon and some are very illegal. James' study of paraphilias exposes him to some of the world's most interesting and unusual sexual desires with the goal of working out why they exist.
Expect to learn how asexuality could evolve at all, why some able-bodied people feel that they should be amputees, why adults like to be dressed up as babies, the link between left-handedness and child abuse, what James thinks about depression in the trans community, why it's become increasingly impossible to have conversations about dangerous sexual desires and much more...

The elephant in the room is the fact that many people who have identified as trans or been identified as trans after many years have decided they now have buyer's remorse and are reversing their transition surgeries. The problems that they're trying to resolve usually emotional are in fact not resolved. This is being seen in the explosion in the number of young girls who decide that they and their peer group are all now in reality boys rather than girls. It's well known that young girls often become embroiled in these social panics. And the best way to address them is to simply wait until they achieve a higher level of social maturity. I do not in any way mean to suggest that no one ever experiences a real transsexual identity crisis only that they are far less common than the media and certain popular individuals suggest they are.

I disagree when he says people's unwillingness to " understand " pedophilia comes from virtue signaling. I'm sure that's a piece of it, but I think it is much more the result of people not wanting to destigmatize something, that could then be normalized. When ever society destigmatizes something it often does become more normalized or prevalent. For example, destigmatizing divorce, promiscuous sex, homosexuality, interracial relationships, transgenderism etc... certainly the increased empathy, and openness on these topics has lead to a society that now see these things as normal, as in there is nothing wrong with engaging in these acts/ behaviors. I'm not sure why he thinks this wouldn't apply to pedophilia.

This was a fascinating conversation overall, but I have to vehemently disagree about de-stigmatizing pedophilia. Child molestation and pedophilia may not be the same, but they are inextricably linked for good reason. Social taboos and shaming often exists to protect a particular group, in this case, children. I agree that we should encourage nonoffending pedophiles to get therapy, but they also need to understand just how damaging their "orientation
" is. I agree that there is evidence that it is partly biologically determined (the handedness thing was fascinating) but there is also evidence that it can be learned, and evidence that certain sub-cultures promote it. If we tell them that nature is in control, nurture will have no chance.
Also, unless the kids being shown to pedophiles in research are cartoons/AI, that is not even close to ethical. Children. Cannot. Consent. And child sex dolls are encouragement. Let's be real.
All that said, Dr. Cantor is very engaging and I would love to listen to him again. I appreciated his balances take on women valuing resource security and his compassionate yet evidence-based opinion on the trans issue.

Not much research into child dolls out there, but the recent comparative survey by Craig Harper and Rebecca Lievesley(Exploring the Ownership of Child-Like Sex Dolls) didn't show much evidence for increased risk of offending compared to non-doll owners. More research will be needed to find any possible direct effects and address survey limitations, but so far escalation isn't supported.

As a father, child sex dolls freak me out but I am willing to be persuaded by evidence that they could work to reduce the risk of offending. My instinct though is that they would not. This is similar to the argument of whether porn increases or decreases the risk of offending. For porn we know for sure that it leads to more extreme forms and it damages the ability to have normal sexual relations. I would expect dolls to be worse (but I could be wrong).

We actually don't know if p0rn has those effects generally. Some of the suggested effects are widely cited/accepted, but the research suggests possible different effects for different groups. Studies cited below have their names altered, but should be the first link on Google.
One study challenged the interest escalation hypothesis and found interests in their sample were static, and violent interests _decreased_ over the study period.
Landripet, et al(2019). Testing the content progression thesis
Evidence for escalation to physical offending comes from higher risk offenders, or those predisposed to s3xual aggression. Those at low risk don't seem to be escalated by it. This is also similar for consumption of child p0rnography, where additional risk factors also appear to make the difference between image-only offenders, and molester/mixed offenders. It's those findings, as well as the observed _negative_ correlation between p0rn(including child) and physical offending at a population level, where the suggestion that fictional images and dolls may deter physical offenses comes from.
Malamuth(2018) Adding Fuel to the Fire

Erectile dysfunction is more connected with depression and anxiety. P0rn may make it worse if the user is uncomfortable with their use of it, but no direct effects found otherwise. Similar indirect effects are found for relationship quality. Relationships where one partner feels uncomfortable with the other's use(jealousy/self esteem, betrayal, religious) can result in poorer outcomes, but those who don't have issues with their partner's consumption, or willingly join in it have neutral or better outcomes.

How can a child consent? They can’t know what they are until adulthood. You are damaging their innocence if you hurt them with your adult sexual desires. Society should shun murderers thieves and pedophiles. If not society will no longer exist and barbarism will take its place. You can see this happening in much of the blue states of America. No shopkeeper can open a shop where society allows theft.
Childhood innocence will not exist if it is systematically abused. This horror show must stop!

I have a theory that it is part of Sensory Processing Disorder from the way I've heard it described by Autistic Trans people. I also wonder if it's a bit of a social acceptance thing ie if your trans, then you are accepted and affirmed, but if you are Autistic, people want to cure you and modify the behaviors that society doesn't understand, like stimming.

To clarify about pedophilia, it's the sexual attraction towards children/teenagers prior to puberty. If you happen to see a teenager who's "questionable" in age but clearly near or at the line of adulthood, than there's nothing wrong with you. For the same reason why nothing changes on the day someone turns 18 from 17. Even if most people would never admit it out of social shame or pressure, we still understand restraint and what's socially moral whether it's a cope or not. Or should we call it virtue signaling? Lol.

Though Ironically if we went back 100 years people were definitely mature enough at 15 to have sex, or even start families. Older men over 35 also give their kids much higher rates of autism, schizophrenia, allergic and autoimmune conditions… science focussed on female age for so long that they weren’t taking into account the age of the man (due to sexist bias.) Stange because in all other mammals, young females aren’t choosing the old “distinguished” lions, bucks, etc etc 😂 but rational turns into rationalizing when scientists face motivated reasoning.

The way Chris speaks exemplifies the problem Dr. Cantor is talking about. The specific language used. "Offending" vs "non-offending" pedophile.
There is no such thing as an offending or non-offending pedophile.
There are child molesters and there are pedophiles. One is a criminal, the other is a sexual attraction in a person's mind, a want, a desire.
Wanting to hit someone is also a desire. Most people don't tend to act on that desire. People also don't tend to rape people when they aren't getting laid. Just look at the incels, they're just suicidal.
If 2/3 of child molesters are non-pedophiles, does that mean that statistically children are safer around pedophiles?
Edit: The longer I am alive on the planet and learn about science, nature, physics, biology, chemistry (Which is just modern alchemy and shouldn't exist. It's just quantum mechanics scaled up. Fight me.), psychology, memetics, neuroanatomy, neurochemistry, history, human social behavior, and all the other fields of knowledge, the more I feel like there really might be some form of higher being that created the universe, it has a really shitty sense of humor, and we're the punchline. The elitists KNOW very well that humans are creatures of story. Story is how humans are controlled. I want those who think this way to get help--and to stay away from children all their lives in order to protect them. Providing people who have these desires w dolls and imagination is ridiculous--what FIRES TOGETHER (in orgasm) WIRES TOGETHER. And the elitists KNOW THIS.
