2:54 is one of my favourite moments in the franchise. Harry at just 14 witnessed a fellow students death and witnessed the return of voldermolt yet he stands up and faces him. The emotion in daniels face in this scene is perfect
Honestly, it must be so heart wrenching, terrifying, and emotional to have your first interaction with your deceased parents in the moment when you’re fighting for your life.
We're Death eater's of the Dark Table. We clap whene'er we're able. We do routines and chorus scenes With handwork impeccable. We dine well here in Grave a lot. We eat ham and jam and spam a lot...... (Monty Pythons "knights of the round table" song)
For everyone talking about Voldie giving Harry plenty of opportunities to escape, just remember, at this point Harry was dead to rights. What could he really do? Fight? He’d have a snowballs chance in hell of winning. Flee? He wouldn’t make it two steps past the makeshift ring before being killed by one of the 10+ enemies in the area, ALL of which were more powerful than him, or dragged back to the duel, THEN killed, not to mention he didn’t know how to teleport yet. The only reason he didn’t die at 3:08 was due to circumstances Voldemort didn’t know about and I kinda feel he gets a bad rep for it Edited for typos
This for me was by far the scariest part of any of the HP films (not the books)... Harry is so very, very alone in this scene, and he's just a kid. At least in Deathly Hallows he was prepared, but this was completely out of the blue: one minute, he's just in the Triwizard Tournament, next minute his friend's dead and the very man who haunts his nightmares is at full power and trying to kill him....
igeto12 Ahhh right~! Well, when I say "not prepared", I don't mean he didn't have the skill set, or he wasn't aware that there was something happening (he'd been dreaming it all year after all). I more mean that all the other times, he knew what was going on, made a plan with his friends, then saw it through. This time, there was absolutely no prior warning to what would happen when he touched that cup. He was isolated and had to suddenly rely on only the skills he'd learnt already, not on his friends' help or some new spell he'd been taught to help him deal with the issue... Does that make more sense?
I agree. Truly a terrifying scene, the effects of which I don't think are fully explored even in the books in terms of psychological damage. I missed so much in the movie Harry telling his story to Sirius and Dumbledore, and the really powerful scene involving a lot of Dumbledore's lines in the hospital wing that was also absent. The thing is, at age 14 Harry saw/heard Cedric die and was actually tortured and taunted by Voldemort. He was sure he wasn't getting out of dying. These chapters in book are awesome to read, and most of the horror is brought to life really well in the movie
In the books... chamber of secrets creeps me out there most. In the movies it’s the half blood prince scene where they go to the cave Tom riddle brought one of the orphans.
Sarca Gausjz Ashur Rebaddra Quirell in the first, Tom's teenage form in the second, battle going on in the video, order of the pheonix battle in the ministry of magic, Harry escaping him when he leaves Privet Drive to go to the Weasleys in Deathly Hallows, then when Voldemort thinks he kills Harry in the forbidden forest and then the followinf battle in the great hall.
I always get emotional when his parents appear. Even in death they still are in the parent mode,” protecting there child.” Almost telling Voldemort ,” you won’t hurt our son .”
0:03 Cedric: I dont want this voldy, mouldy, doesnt smell holy, looks like guacamole, kinda crumbly, mumbly, bumbly, doesn't smell humble-y grumbly, fumbly, musty, dusty, crust foot in my face-
***** Ehh, I don't think Voldemort wasted too much time mocking Harry here. I mean, he did it while Harry was entirely restrained. The only thing that stopped Voldemort from killing Harry here was the priori incantatem and the souls emerging from the Cup.
The moment Cedric died was the moment that J.K. Rowling said that this is no longer whimsical fantasy. Then again, the story started with a double aggravated murder, followed by attempted infanticide...
1:28 I like how after all the years Voldemort was trying to return and he finally does, he allows Harry to drop and to pick up his wand and duel him one on one to make Harry understand he is better than him. Brilliant acting
@@adamk8073 nah. Harry would keep respawning. The horcrux won't take the bullet for Harry, Harry survives in forbidden forest because Voldemort took his blood here, meaning Voldemort extended Lily's protection inside himself. So as long as Voldemort lives so does Harry.
1:12 i just realized there were 3 voices screaming. 1; Harry feeling the touch 2; Voldemort mocking his pain 3; the echoes of Lilly from the Loving Sacrifice spell (it’s super feint because the music swells when it happens)
Correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure voldemort still felt pain from touching harry, however it was nowhere near as excruciating as when quirrel made contact with him
Idk why but I just love the very brief interaction between Harry and James in this scene. It isn't mushy it's just straight and urgent and a father protecting his son. Idk, always loved it.
I LOVE Harry's determined look at 2:56 when he decides to get up and face Voldemort. You can tell he's thinking that even if he dies it won't be because he gave up and didn't fight back. "Have it your way." is the best "Up yours!" ever!!!
I like that he looks so much like a kid when he decides it, because he IS a kid. It's the last bit of innocence he has left and, in the end, it's what saves him
@@aleksandramandic5757 Yeah, I think up until this he was still just a kid and Voldemort was just an idea. The moment Voldemort came back, Cedric died, and he decided to fight he lost that innocence.
In the book, it says that when he was hiding, he said if he dies dueling Voldemort, remembered like his father, standing up to Voldemort, would be better than being found dead hiding
harry is honestly such a brilliant protagonist, he goes through so much and he might not be the smartest in the room or the best fighter but man he’s got balls, he definitely didn’t need to ask the sorting hat to put him in gryffindor
What can I say about Harry, at the age of 11 he decided to confront what he believed to be Voldemort who killed his parents, at the age of 12 he entered the den of the Basilisk and the sword of Gryffindor appeared to him Because he embodied the courage at a very young age, at the age of 13 he was trying to kill Sirius despite knowing that he’s a mass killer At the age of 14, most of the students stood against him and hated him, but he did not care and was sarcasm them in the corridors every time and in the end he stood against Voldemort and was surrounded by death eaters, he stood because he wanted to die on his feet like his father, At the age of 15, the community of wizards stood against him and called him a liar. He was an outcast in school and was tortured by the ailing Umbridge, but he stuck to his word and did not back down from the fact that Voldemort had returned. At the age of 17, he became the most wanted man in the country, and when he knew that if he died, Voldemort would be finished, he went without hesitation to the forest he looked with his eyes in the face of his death
He is the best fighter of his generation. He's the most powerful wizard in training at Hogwarts. He's just fighting Voldemort, the most powerful dark wizard of all time.
Ralph Fiennes is just phenomenal, he absolutely eats up this scene. Only in the film for about 15mins and absolutely steals the ending. Love how he bounces from childish whimsical to dark and terrifying in an instant.
To say that this was Ralph Fiennes finest role is an understatement. He had to control the whole scene. He had to have the entire scene to himself. He had to be Voldemort.
They should have allowed Ralph to portray Voldemort this way in all of the subsequent films. I can't remember where I read it, but I remember reading that they thought this portrayal was too scary or too much for kids to handle; hence, they had Ralph tone it way down. This performance was excellent. Shows Voldemort's merciless nature, his mood swings (you never know quite where he's coming from or when he might strike,) and his obvious delight in torturing Harry. Plus his costume is way better here. Those silk, flowing robes that also expose part of his chest, neck, and upper back, all with the snake-like "veins" on him let us know that his entire body is nearly snake-like. It's a robe fit for a lord of evil. Just my thoughts.
@@sconosciuto3914 he got his body back after 13 years, allowing him to kill and torture his nemesis and continue his plans thereafter, I think he has right to be childish with his psychopathy.
I preferred Ian Hart from the philosopher stone. He played Quirrel and did Voldemorts voice. Ralph did a good job though. I just wish he kept his hood up more and they kept his red eyes.
1:44 - you really see how terrified Harry is, we get so used to him being able to fight and win because he's the hero, but he's still a scared kid here.
Even alone, Harry was never truly alone. And how ironic, that the people Voldemort killed so coldly were able to cause him so much frustration simply by delaying him. The Muggle estate attendant who Voldemort had framed for the deaths of the Riddle Family and then cut down later on, he got his payback. No magic at all, but he still got to humiliate the most powerful wizard of the late 20th Century, even after death.
2:07 I always loved how Voldemort blocked Harry's spell with his bare hands. He was so superior that he didn't even need to use his wand to stop Harry's magic. What an absolute beast
I'm surprised by the negative meaning that Voldemort, the best sorcerer in the world after Dumbledore, died to a bunch of kids. He could literally get whole Hogwarts on knees if he wanted, but by a few stupid mistakes, he literally destroyed himself.
@@0x17DI mean, when it comes to the Elder Wand he kind of actually got bamboozled by a combined effort of Dumbledore and Snape's efforts making him think the Wand was his. He acted plain stupid about the Horcruxes, though.
This scene is one of my favorite of the saga: a 14 years old boy who stands on his ground alone against his parent's killer. This might not be the best neither my favorite movie of the saga but this scene was awesome.
@Trav Tied up? I don't know but somewhere in the books, it's explain that whenever Voldemort's close, Harry's scar hurt him because he and Voldemort are connect due to Harry being an horcruxe.
@Trav The scar, both in the books and movies, burns with pain whenever Harry is close to Voldemort. Sometimes it’s unbearable, other times it’s tolerable depending on the situation. Voldemort touching him made the scar burn horribly because Voldemort was touching right where his scar is, hence the pain
@Trav The rope in the books and the statue in the movie holding him in place were using magic to bind him. He couldn’t break free without his wand. He only got out because Voldemort wanted to embarrass him by kicking his ass in a duel instead of just killing him
lol they were beside voldemort so they also couldn’t see him and in the book they were all trying to stun him when he was running to cedric and the portkey but they all missed
I still like Bremmer better.... His voice and facial expresss were so much more harsh and terrifying. His makeup was better too. Fiennes kinda gave up by the last movie and turned Voldemort into a comedy bit.
@@sivad1025 agree. I laughed at Voldy in last movie but I was always serious while I watched him in this movie. And I agree that Bremmer should have reprised his role, changing the actor never turns out good.
Small thing, but I love how Harry and Voldemort always use spells that are the antithesis of the other. Avada Kedavra is designed to stop an enemy from fighting by ending their life. Expelliarmus is designed to stop an enemy from fighting but spare their life. Nice little detail if you ask me.

He was also tortured. AND in the book he had a broken leg.

The only reason he didn’t die at 3:08 was due to circumstances Voldemort didn’t know about and I kinda feel he gets a bad rep for it
Edited for typos
"I WANT YOU TO LOOK AT ME WHEN I KILL YOU!
I WANT TO SEE THE LIGHT LEAVE YOUR EYES!!!!"
Lmao That line is so crazed and good! xD
This for me was by far the scariest part of any of the HP films (not the books)... Harry is so very, very alone in this scene, and he's just a kid. At least in Deathly Hallows he was prepared, but this was completely out of the blue: one minute, he's just in the Triwizard Tournament, next minute his friend's dead and the very man who haunts his nightmares is at full power and trying to kill him....
igeto12 (honestly not being rude here) Sorry I'm confused, does that mean you agree or no...? :p
igeto12 Ahhh right~!
Voldemort wasn't at full power. I think that if he were, he'd have killed Harry.
Hagrid: Nobody lived once Voldemort decided to kill them. Then Harry escapes Voldemort six times in the whole series.
Six times? The fuck do you mean?
Sarca Gausjz Ashur Rebaddra Quirell in the first, Tom's teenage form in the second, battle going on in the video, order of the pheonix battle in the ministry of magic, Harry escaping him when he leaves Privet Drive to go to the Weasleys in Deathly Hallows, then when Voldemort thinks he kills Harry in the forbidden forest and then the followinf battle in the great hall.
Plus when he was a baby
The Grand Warden you forgot about the fail attach in the forest on first book/film

I always get emotional when his parents appear. Even in death they still are in the parent mode,” protecting there child.” Almost telling Voldemort ,” you won’t hurt our son .”

"YAYYYY :D"
harry is honestly such a brilliant protagonist, he goes through so much and he might not be the smartest in the room or the best fighter but man he’s got balls, he definitely didn’t need to ask the sorting hat to put him in gryffindor
What can I say about Harry, at the age of 11 he decided to confront what he believed to be Voldemort who killed his parents, at the age of 12 he entered the den of the Basilisk and the sword of Gryffindor appeared to him Because he embodied the courage at a very young age, at the age of 13 he was trying to kill Sirius despite knowing that he’s a
mass killer
At the age of 14, most of the students stood against him and hated him, but he did not care and was sarcasm them in the corridors every time and in the end he stood against Voldemort and was surrounded by death eaters, he stood because he wanted to die on his feet like his father,
At the age of 15, the community of wizards stood against him and called him a liar. He was an outcast in school and was tortured by the ailing Umbridge, but he stuck to his word and did not back down from the fact that Voldemort had returned.
At the age of 17, he became the most wanted man in the country, and when he knew that if he died, Voldemort would be finished, he went without hesitation to the forest
he looked with his eyes in the face of his death
He is the best fighter of his generation. He's the most powerful wizard in training at Hogwarts. He's just fighting Voldemort, the most powerful dark wizard of all time.
Agreed, one of the protagonists which actually inspire me
Ralph Fiennes is just phenomenal, he absolutely eats up this scene.

Voldemort is amazing in this; it was really worth the wait. His mannerisms, his tone, everything is really good.

@Trav Because his scar hurt him
@Trav Because Voldemort touch Harry's scar... I don't know how to proprely explain it, you should read the books
@Trav Tied up? I don't know but somewhere in the books, it's explain that whenever Voldemort's close, Harry's scar hurt him because he and Voldemort are connect due to Harry being an horcruxe.
@Trav
The scar, both in the books and movies, burns with pain whenever Harry is close to Voldemort. Sometimes it’s unbearable, other times it’s tolerable depending on the situation. Voldemort touching him made the scar burn horribly because Voldemort was touching right where his scar is, hence the pain
@Trav
The rope in the books and the statue in the movie holding him in place were using magic to bind him. He couldn’t break free without his wand. He only got out because Voldemort wanted to embarrass him by kicking his ass in a duel instead of just killing him
