wait, blazers dont have cab corners... door meet bedside/quarter panel, no rear of the cab needed behind the door jam. This is going to be a cool build and one I've always wondered how hard it would be. - also, loved the harley content, some people have no taste lol
Awesome. Oh and that bracket at the back is an overload leaf spring mount. My spare 69 frame has trailing arms and overload leafs. You could cut all the way up to the door jam and roll the bed metal around the corner of the jam kinda like factory.

Those brackets in back are for half leaf overload springs a pretty rare option.
georgebowers2294 Back in the early 90's my cousin had a 1968 C-10 that had factory weights bolted to the rear of the frame. They even had GM part numbers cast into them. They were cast iron.

I am 48. When I was in high school I always dreamed of a mini truck with back cab and box cut out and welded together... then as I got older I loved k5s and still do. I have 5 k5s right now

Initially I hoped for a simple bagged lowered long bed truck. The current plan is way more exciting! Didn´t know this could be done. I am very curious to see what kind of colour /finish it wil get. Hopefully a bit Rat Rod /patina-ish.
Anyway it will be amazing. This channel is taking of nicely.
After 2 full blown paintjobs on the mustang and the monte Carlo we are definitely going with an easier patina look

Hey Casey, a heads up, if you plan on putting this on bags, the most inexpensive way to lay it on the pinch welds, the best way is to z the front 2 inches and drop the cab mounts or weld 2x4 in the frame rails and chop the access 2 inchess off the bottom. Im exited to see how this all comes along. Great work 🤙

My favorite project so far! I've always wanted to hot rod a K5, never knew this conversion was a thing. I've bought a 79 Jimmy, yanked the 6" lift springs and 3/4 ton axles out and put 2wd suspension under it. Got soooooo much hate for "ruining it". 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I drove 8 hours something like that to Kansas outside of Wichita. This guy had a 1968 anniversary paint job CST long bed truck. They cut it down to a short bed truck. The cuts on the body appeared all right. But the fool cut it right across the dog legs as well. He just brought everything up what about 18in and welded it side-by-side. He overlapped the trailing arms!!! Well it was still probably worth the $2,250 he was asking for since I already had another 8 ft bed and frame from a CST. But it was at least $8,000 truck before they cut it up! Too bad he didn't watch a video something like yours and cut it right. Or just drove up to Nebraska and bought a short bed frame from the salvage yard. Interesting things apart of the cab you're cutting off I could use for my 1967 GMC 1 ton formerly a Winnebago conversion truck. Because at the factory they never put in the window it was stamp for it within they cut a doorway in the back right in between the bucket seats. Which by the way it was originally 1967 bucket seats maybe interest to you. You're a bust out the rear window in this thing I'm glad it didn't hit the windshield or damage the dash when you threw it in. By the way I don't think you're ruining a perfectly good truck. You are being very creative and it's very interesting.

When I did my body lift on my k5, the radiator support bolts were thinner than that and it was an 84

Casey what an awesome build buddy!!! I’ve actually been looking for a 1969-1972 Chevy blazer for several years but all the ones I can find are completely rusted out for sure!!! I’d really like a 4x4 and one with a manual tranny also but I do have everything for a running gear to put one together!!! I do have a pretty nice 1969 Chevy 1Ton 4x4 and it just needs some paint work done!!! It is a really rare factory color also witch I absolutely love!! It’s like a blue/turquoise color!! There was two paint numbers for the paint and one was a dark and one was a light color!!! I had thought that someone had just painted it but found out later that it was a actual factory color witch I have never seen one before witch is really cool I think!!! I definitely can’t weight to see more on your build!!! I’m pretty sure if you would save all the pieces that you cut out that there is someone out there looking to buy those pieces!! Like the roof that you cut out!! Those will rust out up by the head liner and sun visors!!! Plus I still can’t believe that you shattered that back window also!! You can get 100.00$ out of those all day long!!! Remember they don’t make those trucks anymore and keep getting harder and harder to find also!!!! Well remember keep up all the hard work buddy!!!!

So thank you I'm glad I did not cut up my 1968 CST back in high school and make it into a convertible. That was just one or two crazy ideas I had. Also a rear glass it goes up and down like the old station wagon glass. Now they did something like that back in the forties I think it was. But my pick-up convertible idea 💡 predated the Dodge Dakota pickup. Maybe this is why I like your show so much. Not only do you think outside the box you act on. So in this episode you're thinking outside of an 8 ft box.
