Did I really get a free Walnut log to process on my Woodland Mills HM130 Max?

  • I'm telling you folks. Make it known far and wide that you have a sawmill and the logs will find you. This is a beautiful Black Walnut log that a couple down the street gave to me because they wanted rid of it. Wait until you see the inside of the log!

Quite a big investment in equipment! Good job!

It was, but I love doing it and I get a little payback on the investment now and then.

Another good video, thank you. You seem like a regular guy, but yet you can do all this amazing stuff. Nothing regular about you. I wish I had your skill set. I hope you get your planer.

Running Power into our vacation rental home, the power company line crew forman let me know his retirement job, a sawmill. Sold me 6 live edge pine slabs 24"x12'. We joined two for a huge dining room table, beautiful.
Good friend, now I don't need to buy a mill. 😅

You could have used a strap with a hook, using the tractor, turn the log on it's side, then cut it. No live edge but some real nice looking boards

Sam, I've seen that technique. It seems to work pretty well. I've also seen guys use a winch and hook to turn those larger logs in a similar fashion. Turning from the log stop side, up and over the log. I didn't have a strap with me, so lifting and rolling was my best option at this time. Thanks for the input. Always good to hear of different options.

Bud............you scored a home run on that log!!! But if you fast forward to about the 16:30 mark in the video, unfortunately you'll see that you've got a big dip in the middle of your log. LOLOLOL.
