Would you folks like to see more of this sorta thing? I'd love to hear your suggestions. 😊
How about a 90s-00s Euro Touge match?
Watch VW get squashed by BMW. 😅
probably not the best for views but I'd love to see the same thing but you and Jimmy switch cars :D
Yeah I'd love to see more of you two together.
Definitely
And to think, you just got off Twitch at a good time. 😁
One of your best videos, would love this to be redone on Suzuka or Tsukuba in honor of the old magazine comparisons JDM Masters shows on their channel
This format but done on Tsukuba would be so cool👀
suzuka or twin ring or even sugo are great circuits for a jdm comparaison
Yeeeeeeeeeeeees!!
the course looks like hot version's gunsai touge
maybe a bit wider. it's at least inspired by it
Yessss!
went ahead and downloaded some of the mods, the gto was fast because it was a solid 300+kg too light, the modder gave it the weight of the base model, when it's the vr4 power wise. So it either gains 300kg, or loses 100hp to be accurate.
also FD supremacy
We came to the same conclusion. Don't worry, we ran the correct weight, (1775kg incl driver)
I think that it still ended up a bit too fast & that the tyres/suspension were the reason.
@@NateLupson the street tyres has a semi slicks physics :(( you could easilt check these cars turning strenght using G meter
CG height is also about 200mm too low, yikes!
@@NateLupson ah, makes sense, I kinda suspected something other than just weight was up because it had basicaly zero body roll and seemed to grip way to well
@@houseking9211 Yeah, we lifted the car about 200mm and corrected the gear ratios too but clearly there's a lot more inherently off about it.
Probably wouldn't take much to get it 90% of the way there, but the changes were made kinda last minute and we didn't have the time.
I wonder how a Pulsar GTI-R, Celica GT-Four & a Civic/Integra Type R wouldve held up in this competition 😉😊
Yeah me too, that would have been interesting to see.
Pulsar GTI-R would have a nice chance against most competition, The GT-FOUR depending on which gen would perform like a 3000GT with less hp and less weight( id say the ST185 would be far superior to the more underwhelming ST205), and the civics would have the superior turning handling but would probably lose every time because of the final strait.. Those are my takes
I think you're underestimating the ST205 or overestimating the ST185 personally.
throw in a Mazda 3 MPS as well to have a fwd battle with the civic ep3 type R, power vs handling.
@@stevieboymkii Yeah, isn't the st205 just a straight upgrade from the st185? Performance should be close to the STI and EVO.
Awesome video Jimmy! This was fun to watch. You’re both great competitive drivers on the track IRL, so it’s cool to see you drive the wheels off these modern classics while comparing them in sim. Shoot out format was entertaining too, you should do more of these!
Next on the Jimmy Broadbent CZcams channel.
Touge racing with special guest commentator Dagogo Altraide... I'm in... I'm so in.
ColdFusion is not the channel I expected to see commenting here, but it's awesome. Love your work!
The crossover we need
Watching Jimmer attempt to tandem drift two cars simultaneously is now what I have to see
Would be interesting to see how non JDM cars fare against JDM on togue. Especially Muscle cars and famous FWD compacts.
I think the American cars from this time would struggle, but modern ones would do pretty decently
American boat togue. Yes please. They won't be fast but it would be quite entertaining to try and get them down the run.
The Ford Fiesta on touge just devours corners, so yeah, that'd be fun.
Boat touge.
The Bouge.
Oh god, all the old solid rear axle muscle cars would just slam into trees all the way down
Very enjoyable video, but i feel like for every round you should've swapped cars, since obviously Nate was the better driver with all those wins 😉😂
Potentially a very viable video series here Jimmer! I'd love to see all types of battles not just the JDM heroes. Fwd NA battle with Civic type R, Trueno BZR, Pulsar VZR. Wagon battle with Vr4 legnum, stagea, legacy, crown etc
Huge potential!
Yes yes. We need more of this
That's a very NZ 90s car Scene line up
@@christopherjohnston6343 guilty, basically I just want all the best motoring races but irl
I mean, to be nitpicky, in Initial D Bunta's 86 is supposed to be kitted to the brim with stuff, just with the OG engine. To be clear, I am speaking about the 86 in Stage One, Yuichi states this when Itsuki buys his 85 and tries to compare it to Takumi's 86, he mentions his car is like garbage even if he was to mod the car, compared to Bunta's 86.
Well as much of realization yuichi tried to put on istuki it turned out the 85 was one of the fastest cars in gunma when it was all said and done takumi proved it by not only blowing by iketani but also a S15 with minor issues that takumi quickly adapted to
I had to make it sure on wiki, but I remembered correctly, the 85 had an 1.5 SOHC engine, they even mentioned it on the show that it's SOHC
@@bencevarga6304 yeah nothing special but proved to be good
@@speedhunter7156 I think it's a major dramatization to show his skills though, a completely stock sohc AE85 with old tires wouldn't even be able to last 2 minutes on Mt Akina against a stock s15 before it would just be so far behind, there are just too many long straights really. a stock AE86 can't last 3 minutes against a stock s15 even with the best driver in reality. Mt Akina is also an extremely long and straight course with only a small number of hairpins compared to straights compared to say, Usui pass where there is only a few fast straights consisting of mostly corners and hairpins where a more knowledgeable driver * could * in theory outpace an s15 with a stock 85 and that's pushing it.
@@ThatSlow5.0tC well the thing is that Takumis 86 wasnt stock at all if they had used at least the tuned a86 in ac it would already have done better
Wow that 3000GT is pretty cool 😎
It’s fun to see what they look like functioning properly 🤓
The MR2 was cool too
@@kylelanger8611 HEYYYYY
sounds biased somehow
The maths add up, it’s 50% better than a Toyota 2000GT
Togue is so needed in GT7.
Fr I would be playing for hours and hours
I wouldve thought the S2k and the RX7 would be a closer matchup considering multiple different tuned S2ks RX7s held the Maou title before. But that was a surprising performance from the RX7 against the mighty NA2R.
the kunos RX7 is genuinely one of the nicest and most predictable cars in Assetto, add to that a good 70 or so HP over the S2k with not that much more weight, and so far as stock goes, the RX7 is damn near unfair
The s2k got robbed
The Rx7 was designed by Mazda to literally be the perfect touge car right out of the factory, it would get beaten by the NSX and GTR on a more traditional long sweeping circuit but in tight mountain roads it is the king, even in real life, the FEED RX7 is the fastest car around best motorings touge course.
@@jamfd3s788the Js S2000 vs the FEED RX7 rivalry has been awesome to watch over the years currently the RX7 is the champ but it won’t be long before Js claps back
@@Skendybendie The RX7 is my favorite car of all time but the Js s2000 is a badass machine I've definitely enjoyed watching them battle it out their channel.
I would like to have seen R32 GTR vs RX-7 FC to close out the bracket, but this was very entertaining!
Two of the coolest jdms imo
@@Zinul R32 GTR is my dream car (also the 288 GTO, but that's an actual pipe dream).
Currently have a 91' FC turbo 2 and can confirm it's a cool little car, drives like a kart, the weight distribution is beatiful.
I’m curious to know what would be the results if it was a time trial instead of
This is what I love about sim racing, recreating these moments. Awesome vid man, and fingers crossed that Kaz will bless the GT community with this layout in game one day.
Ah yes... A battle for the Ages, a few Doritos versus Ayrton Senna 🤣
Also, for a moment there at 28:36 if I did not know any better I would have thought you were Scottish, Jimmer...
I remember pushing that GTO to over 400 kph with tuning in Gran Turismo back in the day - until it took off on the oval. That car was properly fast.
The battle between the S2000 and RX7 is pretty much exactly what went on in Hot Version/Best Motoring touge battles.
Two of the top tuners, J’s Racing (S2000) and Fujita Engineering (RX7) would regularly battle it out year on year on Hot Version, each coming back with an improvement every time.
Go watch the videos, you’ll see what started as a bit of friendly rivalry got more intense and serious as they kept developing their cars to get the honour of “Touge Monster”.
really enjoyed this one! Really interesting noting the difference between the driving styles, Nate always seems to have minimal input and always seems on top of the car, Jimmy is very much throwing it in and managing the oversteer that comes. Both are amazingly quick though, and I think the cars were pretty well represented, I think both cars in the finale were more Nate's style where Jimmy was able to take the 3000GT quite deep into the competition since he was able to get more out of the boat with his aggressive style.
The video was a great showcase for Assetto Corsa's physics. The squatting of various cars under acceleration was fantastic. Were these mostly Polyphony's models ported across?
Nope these are community made mods
no lol most of these cars either converted from GT or Forza@@mtnmoo
I will mention that the MR2 mod he used tends to be more slippery then the one that uses the 2J sound. Plus if you watch the Tsukuba races irl, it can go toe to toe with WRXs, GT-Rs, RX-7s easily.
I'll always love how much the MR2 punches above it's weight considering it was originally supposed to be on par with the Miata.
Yeah that mod has fucked brake balance, if you use tire slip app you can see that it brakes with rear brakes more than the front
25:06 only Jimmy can start an actual fire in a simulation game. 😂
wow this was so freaking COOL jimmer! watching the JDM legends battle it out, fighting tooth and nail to win each round. that finale was spectacular! GG jimmer and nate :)
that particular r34 AC car is a bit of a handful. i tend to enjoy the default r34 from kunos more but no clue if its faster than this one
As a former 3000GT VR-4 owner, it made me smile to see Jimmy’s surprise. It’s large and in charge. The AWD, four wheel steering, adaptive suspension, and active aero, all combine to make a truly beautiful mess. They look good, sound good, and they’re comfortable to drive. And the handling may surprise some people. Awesome cars!
Well if you take the ae86 from Initial D its nit really a stock one even in the first stage its been made a proper "Race Car" by Bunta, id really like to see a mod of Takumis last stage car i think that one would be a proper car to go around Touge, i dontt say it would win but it will def rank higher
Yeah, almost everything besides the engine was tuned. Rally transmission gearing, suspension tune, brakes weren't factory either... That 86 was a low power beast, purpose built to train Takumi from the ground up. The other half of that legend was just Takumi driving way more than most racers ever could afford, at the start of the show he has been driving illegally for years.
I think the 86 tuned or whatever its called in AC is that. It's the fastest car on all these servers
@@pentilex4338 well yeah even if they used that it would already been much higher in place
I would have loved to see an ek9 type R thrown into the mix
I thoroughly enjoyed this! Hope to see more!
I'd love to see you guys do this with a completely different category of cars, maybe American muscle or European hot hatches? It could be a lot of fun!
Whenever I hear someone say Initial D claims th AE86 is the fastest car, I assume they either haven't actually watched Initial D or they weren't paying attention.
Takumi wins most of his races because he's a better driver and occasionally does batshit insane maneuvers on narrow mountain roads that his opponents are afraid to try. Even then, he ends up losing to a Lancer Evo - not because the driver is that much better than Takumi, just because the AE86 can't keep up.
For the rest of the series after the loss to the Evo the 86 is far from being stock, and Takumi's dad has used his connections to basically make the inside of the car unrecognizable as an 86.
It’s a joke😑
This is content that we all wanted to see. Something fun and really not as serious to have a break from the real life content wich is far more tense. I really appreciate Jimmy as a content creator letting us watch very diverse types of videos. I would really enjoy if we see something like a mini series of this with more jdm cars or an european edition of the challenge on a european road, maybe an american one idk. Cheers Jimmy, you always deliver
Awesome video, loved this one! Super exciting battles every minute. Would be great to see this with a different selection of cars. Hot hatches, Lamborghini vs Ferrari ect.
Great video, even better t shirt, GGs!
13:49 The Impreza with the ULTRA RARE no hand strat
Definitely do more of this! I love car comparisons, it tickles the car magazine part of my brain.
Man, this is incredible content. This is what all our childhood dreams are made of. AC is incredible for facilitating fun like this. I would love to see another showdown type video like this, you could do JDM again but then on a gravel stage. Or go with a completely different set of cars. The options are limitless with AC! Incredible video, genuinely enjoyed it.
this was just as entertaining to watch the actual togue with Keichi san and their crazy commentary! LOVED THIS ONE! Should do more like this, JIMMY'S TOGUE!
Great video, always enjoy the touge stuff! Some great driving (by Nate) in these JDM legends. Keep up the hard work jimmer, much love from the cold north!
nice upload timing of the jdm themed vids, misha dropped an RX-8 lap at the ring, now we need superGT to drop a jdm themed vid today
Also in defense of initial D, the main character never drove a stock 86, pops had him in a sleeper since the start
Me a Supra MK3 owner, wondering where the frick my car is 😅
It’s secretly the best one
A rocket ship when tuned but no good for twisty stuff.
@@v4skunk739 I fully agree on that one. Feels like an old 70's US car in corners🤣
Shut up
It was getting smoked by the S14
I really enjoyed this. All of these cars were dream cars while growing up, and they still are!
Damn, that R34 Drift angle! Absolutely beautiful! And of course, pure drifter Skill from Jimmer!
Well done! Gotta say I'm impressed, and it's exactly what I needed to see after working on the Spirit R's wiring diagrams all day.
That was an awesome video! Would love to see more in this style. Maybe an 80s JDM showdown (MX-5, R32 GT-R, older Supra and RX-7), or take some cool European or American cars.
Given the MX-5 debuted in '89, I think it belonged in this video rather than your (great!) idea. Add the Celica as well, maybe have it race a Supra in the first round to show the evolution of the car.
why didnt he have it in this video? it says every JDM car but it wasnt
@@JeanPaulConnock
Loved this showdown! What a cool thing to be able to do in sim. Huzzah!
Love the vibe of this type of video
You should do a part 2 of it! After all, as amazing as all these cars are, they’re mainly just great platforms to do something with. Would love to see the tuned up and properly built street versions go up against each other, if that was even possible in sim.
that was a great video. i would like to see something similar done with American muscle.
Absolutely loved this one!! If only the S2k had a snail attatched or even a set of trumpets maybe we'd have an all honda final
Great video Jimmer, had a smoke while watching this and had an absolute blast.Great job by you and Nate.
One of your best videos so far Jimmy, that was so cool seeing these JDM legends get put through their paces. Here in NZ we had all these cars (well, versions of them at least); only the NSX was always a rare beast but the others you'd see pretty much daily 20-25 years ago; lower spec versions in most cases obviously but many had been tuned to within an inch of their existences. Crazy how times have changed.
You and Nate should race Kei cars :D
Format here is brilliant and I think the idea of "which one of the things that were cool is best", kinda resolving the arguments we had as children and teens.
Great video as always. Love the Touge content!!!
this was one of the best videos you've uploaded lately. nate was great too
Great video! I would love to watch another one of these in another togue course, hope it becomes a series.
That looks like Fun, two mates having a BLAST that's we all love race games
That was a good run. As an owner it's always a pleasure seeing an rx7 win. I have a friend with a mostly stock 97 vr4, and It's quite a pleasure to drive. The weight is there, but the suspension is firm and has minimal body roll so it feels planted and confidence inspiring.
One of your finest videos ever Jimmy, keep this up
this was one of the best videos keep this series up !
Great stuff, really enjoyed this episode of Top Jimmy 😅🎉
Awesome video. Getting 100% Video Option Touge vibes :D
This was super interesting as it confirms the testing that I’ve done. I’ve been running the pikes peak hill climb with a ton of different 90s jdm cars. It eventually came down the the rx7 and nsx. But just like your testing, they are so incredibly close. Over a 10 and a half minute hill climb, I’ve pushed both cars to there limits. They sit less than half a second apart in times. The nsx holds the half a second for those wondering.
The RX7 looks more controllable though.
@@humandroid53oh it absolutely is. The RX7 has a fun but controllable slide to it where the NSX could put you into the ditch at any moment. It’s hard to deny the grip from the nsx out of the hairpins though
However in real life the 90’s Celica is King of Pikes Peak, and countless WRC wins. Even stock GT-4/All-Trac Group A beats all (Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche) in 21st century - Adelaide Rally Anyone.
Loved this, would like to see similar with JDM Hatchbacks!
the subtle addition of the This Vs That music when the R34 got resurrected was very appreciated, just thought you should know that.
Yesssss jumper posed and en is just the boys 🎉🎉
Best video jimmer, turn this into a series pls!
Having just done a road trip through Japan, the only thing missing from these maps are the constant スピード落とせ (reduce speed) and スピード注意 (watch speed / be careful about your speed) signs. There's only one or two here, but they're everywhere in real life.
That Nate guy is such a clean driver (in comparison!)
Love this video Jimmy!
Top content 🔥🔥
Couldn't really bring myself to root for one or the other in the finals, I love 'em both to death, but in the end... DORITO BOYSSS! Great vid, Jimmy!
Congrats for the video Jimmy! Awesome content and very funny to watch and I think it represents how it is even in real life pretty well
What a joyful and exciting video that is! I propose you redo that in another track like Twin Motegi short course). Not by luck the tuned FDs (RE Amemiya and Fujita ones) were for years the best cars in Touge.
1000000/10 vid gave me more ideas for touge stuff thanks jimmy 👌🏼
So proud of the NSX. No fancy tech, just balance, and a solid engine.
Best Motoring: Broadbent edition.
NANI?!
It’s honestly kinda impressive how the GTO hangs with the rest of the cars, despite being one of the older models with less improvements- heavier, less power, and a gear less than the later model year counterparts that were on sale at the same time as the other cars were. When it came out (1990), the version shown here was sold along side the R32, FC, and Mk3 supra.
The Model they had gave it to much grip. They also had to fix weight and suspension issues. So disregard the Mitsubishi it was a poor model.
I think there's a skill issue, Anime would never lie to us
Having an Evo IX, I wonder how a newer one would have gone since in motortrend's race the IX beat the NSX on track and the evo VII was pretty close. The Evo VI TME may have got a chance to come on top.
Great video, love seeing you in a Rory 'Steady' Alexander t shirt too ❤
Do this again at Tsukuba, this video was fun to watch.
Can't wait to drive my NA1 again. Made my day on this cold winter day. Thanks a lot. Amazing that RX7 and NSX are the same pace! The NSX is still underpowerd IMO.😅
This was a fantastic video!
This is my kind of content. Great vid
I must say. I was amused❤ what an awesome and thrilling video. Amazing. And didn't expect that ending. But my jdm ❤ is happy with it
i can't explain how much i love this video
This was great, would love to see more like this (maybe same cars different tracks, or different cars on this track!) and I assume this didn't include the MX5/Miata as that would just win too easily :p
This was interesting. You could continue it with, for example, all German classics on Nurburgring GP (so it was short enough as Togue) or British on Brands Hatch.
YES, 40 Minutes (sort of). Love it. Let's go.
Fun video ! Please do more like this.
GOATED garage lineup jimmer and nate. RIP poor hachi lmao
The ae86 in initial D was never stock... but it was also never fast :P
What a fun use of sim rigs, this was very entertaining!
Really good one, you radiate joy when your doing this type of stuff jimmy. 🤩Next time maybe worth doing the "time attack" thing they where doing before the race ?🤔
And obviously you cannot satisfy everyone but i think it would be interesting to see those car in a round 2 :
-Honda Civic ek9 type R
-Honda Integra type R (JDM DC2 or DC5)
-Nissan Pulsar GTIR
-Nissan Skyline R32 GTR (maybe, just because lighter than the R34 ? or the 400R)
-Nissan S13 Type X or S15 Spec R (maybe too similar to the S14 ?)
-Toyota Celica GT-four
-Mazda RX7 FC
-Subaru Impreza WRX STI (mutiple versions... 22B, S204...)
-Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX
-Mazda 323 GTR
-.... Probably a lot more i forgot
Yes! FD RX7 has always been my favorite. First thing I'd buy if I won the lottery. Sure they're unreliable, not economic, and cost a fortune to maintain. But so are kids, and people have them all the time! Plus just look at them 😍 and the sound they make? It actually hurts that I'll likely never get to drive one. Great video man.
ngl I was half expecting to see a civic vs celica showdown but this was awesome to watch regardless
Awesome video, I was recently going back through the togue videos! OK. Can we now have a Kei Car version, and an Euro version?
Well this caught my interest immediately
TBH, in Gran Turismo 2, the EVO was definitely "quicker" than the WRX, but the WRX had a higher top speed--it seemed like the EVO was geared to get to 200km/h as quickly as possible and, once you get the handle on the understeer, switching out the transmission turned it into a 290km/h BEAST.
This video was great Jimmer
