DAIQUIRI
The Daiquiri would have to be one of the most iconic classics. It was first created in the 1890's and Bacardi was first call. Originally the drink was served in a tall glass packed with ice.
INGREDIENTS
- 60mL White Rum (2 oz)
- 30mL Fresh Lime Juice (1 oz)
- 22.5mL Simple Syrup (¾ oz)
METHOD
1. Add the ingredients to your cocktail shaker
2. Shake with ice
3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass
4. Garnish with a lime wheel
===
MOJITO
The origins of the Mojito are a little mysterious and some stories go as far back as the 16th century. We’re unsure of it’s true lineage but I know for sure, that it is the perfect refreshing summer cocktail and is a crowd favourite no matter the occasion.
INGREDIENTS
- 60mL White Rum (2 oz)
- 30mL Lime Juice (1 oz)
- 22.5mL Sugar Syrup (¾ oz)
- 6-8 Mint Leaves
- 60mL Soda (2 oz)
METHOD
1. Add mint to the bottom of a high ball glass
2. Add all ingredients except soda
3. Gently press the mint with a muddler
4. Fill with ice and top with soda
5. Stir and garnish with a mint sprig
===
MAI TAI
This Mai Tai recipe is a slight adaptation on Trader Vic’s recipe from 1944 - excluding the rare and expensive Wray and Nephew rum and upping the curacao in place of the rock candy syrup (which is also known as rich simple syrup - a 2:1 simple syrup).
INGREDIENTS
- 60mL Aged Rum (2 oz)
- 22.5mL Orange Curacao (¾ oz)
- 30mL Fresh Lime Juice (1 oz)
- 15mL Orgeat (½ oz)
METHOD
1. Combine all ingredients into your cocktail shaker
2. Shake with ice
3. Strain over fresh ice into a double old fashioned glass
4. Garnish with a lime wheel
===
DARK & STORMY
The original trademarked version is held by the Gosling family. It calls for Gosling’s Bermudan rum but any dark rum to accompany a spicy ginger beer will work - just don’t substitute for ginger ale. Apparently many venues that utilise a different rum have had to resort to cleverly renaming the drink to Safe Harbour, in order to avoid litigation from the Gosling’s family.
INGREDIENTS
- 60mL Goslings Dark Rum
- 90mL Ginger Beer
- Lime wedge
METHOD
1. Add ice to your high ball glass
2. Pour the ginger beer ensuring you leave space for the rum
3. Float the dark rum on top
4. Garnish with a lime wedge

THE SALTY BIRD
The Salty Bird is a creation of Lauren Schell of The Everleigh in Australia. Also a former bartender of iconic bars, Milky & Honey and Little Branch. The cocktail is a bittersweet rum laced pineapple sipper.
INGREDIENTS
- 45mL White Rum
- 22.5mL Campari
- 45mL Pineapple Juice
- 15mL Fresh Lime Juice
- 15mL Simple Syrup
- Pinch of salt
METHOD
1. Combine all the ingredients into your cocktail shaker
2. Shake with ice
3. Strain into a high ball or cooler glass
4. Top with crushed ice
5. Garnish with a pineapple wheel and fresh mint

Hi Steve!
I recently fell in love with Barcelós rum (Gran Añejo). Not too expensive for a student but still good in my opinion 😊 At least when a dark rum is needed. For white rum I prefer Bacardi.
Btw, how long can you store lime juice? As a rule of thumb I mean. I still have some in the fridge from last weekend and would really like a Mojito without the need to press another couple of limes 😅
@@FreddeP91 the reviews sound pretty decent considering how inexpensive it is, good find! Generally I'd recommend only keeping it for up to 48 hours but if I was making myself a drink and there was lime juice in the fridge, I'd use it (as long as it was in a sealed bottle)..
I like salty bird
I was going to comment about stirring the mojito until I saw this, excellent!
However, I'm sure the Dark & Stormy is only trademarked in the USA so you can still call it such in other countries. Could be mistaken though!
Kit Carruthers not stirring was just another random brain fart when I get in front of the camera! 😆 yeah, I assumed it was only trademarked in the US but referenced this info as the majority of subs are in the US..
who's here for the shake 'n smile? :D
Can't help but automatically start smiling as well :-)
🤢
@@crazkurtz lolololololol
Every, single, time... And it's magical
it's so contagious :D
That smile is the reason I come back even for drinks I don't need to make
Lol, cheers Ryan!
im sorry but everyone needs to make drinks, whats the point of living if not for the sweet sweet embrace of alchohol
Especially now when we can't go to a bar..
How cute is the way hes smiles to the camera while shaking the drinks, really melts mu drunken heart
I love how he looks at the camera and smiles while shaking

Rum really seems to have a huge crush on Limes :D
Sailors used to be given rations of rum diluted with water and lime juice. Most rum cocktails derive from that rudimentary proto-daiquiri. Rum, lime and sugar, then whatever flavour you might want.
good one #cocktailwalktales
@@Quintinohthree Grog right? Lime juice was added to prevent scurvy I think...
@@paynevess8822 It's a complicated story. When Admiral Vernon ordered the rum ration to be served diluted with 4 parts water, he also suggested the crew could purchase sugar and limes to make the mixture more palatable, but the idea that citrus prevented scurvy was long actively suppressed.
"So... we won't be making a 'Dark and Stormy' today" ........ " Here we have a dark and stormy"
shhhh don't let the Gosling's family hear you
When he shakes, always smiling😄 love this man💫
Congratulations on 100k subs Steve!!! Love you vids, keep smashing it on the road to 1 mil!!
Mojito’s have been my absolute favorite drink this summer. It’s so refreshing and light. ♥️
Ive waited soooo long for this series!
People do not give rum its day in most cocktail channels. Thank you so much for this Steve!
The variety of delicious concoctions demonstrated here is truly impressive. From classic favorites like the Mojito and Piña Colada to creative twists like the Rum Sour and Tropical Storm, there's something to suit every taste.
Daiquiri is my favourite cocktail, but i love everything that is made with rum.
Thanks for uploading!
Dark and Stormy and will now have to try the Salty Bird!
Love how you smile when shaking drinks!
The book on the side, Smuggler's Cove, is the name of the second mission in the Vezok's Coastline section of Bionicle: Heroes.
Cool!
BRUH I REMEMBER
In the time it takes Steve to make five cocktails, other channels have not even finished one. Like the more action and less babbling. You just got a new subscriber
I love how he looks at camera and smile every time he shakes. He really enjoys that!
Lol - it doesn't fail. That grin with every shake! Love it!
I am loving the way you say ..."they have " with cocktail name. The video is very quite, calm no extra music and your smile is definitely a top up.
Thanks Sir ....
Mojito, Mojito, and MOJIIITTOOO... I love that!
Thanks for the ideas, Steve. My family really likes rum so this is a great one. I made a Daiquiri last night, but decided to shake things up a bit. I used 1 and 1/2oz rum and about 1/2oz of Cointreau and went a bit heavy on the lime juice. It was dangerously good.
I like the way he smiles every time he shakes the cocktails .... you can see how happy he is doing what he does ! Thanks m8 cheer stay safe and keep on smiling
Loved this vid! the mojito and dark n stormy are for sure my fave rum cocktails! will definitely have to try the salty bird though, it looked great! 😍😍
100k, congrats! I have not tried the Salty Bird yet, but of the remainder, I am a huge fan of the Mai Tai, especially with Jamaican rum. Mojito is my go-to for a crowd pleaser.

I have created the Mai Tai & Dark n Stormy with Bundaberg, loved em both. The Mojito I made with sugar and simple syrup, more refreshing with white sugar as compared to simple syrup

That face at 3:20, where Steve thought he broke the bottle squeezing it with them powerful guns he has for arms.
I thought it was going to spray water everywhere >_
Awesome recipes, thank you!
I am all about the mai tai but I like all of the rum cocktails you went over today. The Salty Bird is a new one to me but if someone who worked at Milk and Honey came up with it, it has to be delicious. Cheers Steve!
