- I got a new bikepacking set up to explore the rugged terrain behind Oaxaca, Mexico! This is just a taste of what's to come; I'll be making some longer, more in-depth videos about the region and my new bike shortly. ⚡️
Don't worry, this bike is not a replacement for my touring bike and my intention is to continue cycling across continents as soon as land borders become more permeable. 😊

I've been wondering what happened to your last tour. The last I saw was that you were in Mexico when the pandemic hit and it seemed like you were making videos from there for a while. Now you're on a different bike from the one you were using on that trip.
No Denham bars?
My tour hasn't ended. I'm in Mexico waiting for land borders to open so that I can continue north.
Not on this bike.
That breakfast "bowl". I'm curious where I can get it from.
This guy though... takes a touring bike where I would only take a mountain bike.... then proceeds to take a mountain bike where I would only hike.
I guess covid accelerated the rise of bikepacking at the expense of road touring. I couldn't even find a touring bike in the USA so I've decided to go the bikepacking route too. A video I'd love to see would explain the best gear sets for different types of cycling -- road, touring, gravel, trails, etc. Great video.
Wow, that opening scene was magical! Thanks a lot for making this video.
Love how the music is mixed with the real sound... Very relaxing.... Makes me wanna go out...
From Portugal, nada melhor que acompanhar o nascer do dia com um café.
3 minutes of exquisite bike and nature escapism from my Singapore COVID urban reality. Thanks a lot.
Wow man, just wow... That's some rewarding hike a bike.
Great music and edit. Cheers.
Breakfast + Tooth brushing in nature 💚
You are really an intrepid individual. That looked more like a ‘lugging the bike over steep rocky hills’ than a cycling adventure. Way to go! 🌞☮️👍🌟🚵🏼♂️🏔🏕🏔
love this video format! looking forward to your future videos
Awesome! Thanks for sharing.
You live a dream life. One pedal at a time. Oh to get away and get lost on the trail. Great video!
Excellent upload, Alee! Thank you.
This was a cool meditation.
Always…always a treat watching your adventures and hearing your advice. Safe travels! Best wishes.
Beautiful! I just did something similar last weekend but it was more jungle kind of ride through creek trails, super demanding but lots of fun!
Amazing landscape ✌😉👍🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️ Stay well.
Best regards from germany
Awesome! I'm just getting into bikepacking. I've been a backpacker but just got a bike after not having one for almost 30 years. New gear to tinker with!
Wow! That was brilliant. The ridge was bloody scary mind!!
Thank you for pausing in your adventure to document it for us.
You're not only a bike-packer - but a great film-maker!!!!!
You knew that already.
Would love to see some of your work in the Banff film sets that we see at our local adventure film festival.
Beautiful video, thanks.
Awesome, man!
Almost as much hiking and biking, so maybe not for me, but you sure chose a great spot to do it all in.
Such an adventure... right to the very end...
Cool little vid! Thanks!
looks peaceful.
Absolutely stunning.
I can't wait to share more of this magic place! ✨
Full suspension? That's new. beautiful footage. Cheers.
Nice. The kind of experience I dream of.
For that type of area with no flats and lots of trees a hammock would probably be a more comfortable option. Beautiful video
Great video, I would love to go bikepacking myself one day
Go for it!
Pure dreams!
I’m going to sleep now and hope to dream of me replacing you in this adventure. What a great short trip! 😴🥱😴
That looks like bliss :)
Man that was dope there for that overnighter don’t think over 1km from Valley though but quite highup there .
I like this story!
Living in the alps ‒ you'd love it.
Great video! But I think, hiking is way better for the shown environment. When you are rushing downhill on this steep narrow path, every hiker who come towards you, will not be happy. The landscape is gorgeous.
Awesome
Thanks for the views.
As you were hiking your way up an idea would be to find a strap that allows you to carry the bike as a backpack.
I'd love to try a "PeakRider" (look it up)!
@@Cyclingabout I think an OG style folding bike would be a bit less awkward than that, hah. Shame Montague's the only one making folding MTBs (that I know of) and they're not particularly impressive.
@@ME-hm7zm Montagues were designed to be thrown out of planes. 😩
Have you ever concidered a hammok? I’ve seen a few videos about it and it seems very versatile. There are even people sleeping in deep snow in hammocks.
Why didn't you carry the scary ridge but pushed the bike instead? What a wonderful video!
Damn, that's the life man, I'm amazed you don't lock the bike at night dough, maybe that's my ocd kicking in
I don't see any people in the mountains during the day, let alone night!
Full suspension bike finally))
I like it more when you are in your touring bike
Class
Awesome
.😍😍😍😍😍
please come to kerala (India) for a ride
Bravo💪🏽👍👍👍
I really enjoyed this video and I’m wondering why no signature voiceover?
I didn't plan to make this, was just recording and found myself with some footage to share.
I like that setup! What bags are you using? I'll be going to a short-travel full suspension as my only bike in the near future... Thanks!
Check pinned comment.
So beautiful! I'd like to know how long it took you to set up your camera gear for all the shots. That must have been quite the task as well.
A few minutes for each shot!
@@Cyclingabout Well, thank you very much for sharing this beautiful landscape with us.
How did you know where to go, or where you were going? How did you navigate the trail?
Awesome, but watch out for them there Sasquatch.
There are pumas lurking in these forests! I cannot wait to see one.
Did you find the rear suspension useful?
Interesting bike choice , how to you like the MTB ? I mean most of the parts wear out really quick eh? Getting parts is also meh ?
I love it. I don't mind if things wear out quickly, this bike is designed to be ridden hard on very technical trails - the maintenance and wear are a small price to pay for the performance.
@@Cyclingabout well I am a MTB guy myself and I know very well how fast the suspension and especially those Michelin Wild Enduros are wearing. 500km and they are done at least for me for the Michelin.
What are the benefits? Of used rohloff hub or pinion gear box????
2:45 Looks like a millipede
A lovely video Ali - Are you still in Mexico?
Suspension seat post on a full sus setup? Thoughts
Not necessary and not a good idea.
@@Cyclingabout man yr bum must be super tough lol
No longer Rohloff hub with belt drive?
I have two bikes.
Where did you store the Koga? :)
In my house.
@@Cyclingabout I'd been wondering if you had started renting a place or were still basically couch surfing / wildcamping the whole time.
Surprised to see you on a MOUNTAIN BIKE - the terrain notwithstanding. Also, were you the least bit concerned that you might encounter DRUG GANGS and other OUTLAWS in Mexico?
I would like to suggest to you for saying those sentences instead subtitles for us to read, because I lose a little bit of the beauty of your video when I turn my attention into reading it. Regardless, great video. Very peaceful!
If anything the choice of subs over voiceover made it more "breathtaking" for me :)
Noted! I didn't plan to make this video, I was just having fun filming a few things.
@@Cyclingabout I think it’s great to throw videos like this into the mix. It’s like the modern day postcard.
sorry to be a pain on gear but what is that downtube gear holder you are using. Glad you can get out on your bike , so many others are locked down, I'm loving living in Rotorua.where are you from, KIWI ?
Apidura Backcountry downtube packs. I'm from Melbourne, Aus.
Thanks man. Nice accent for an Auz. 🤣
Lovely video, but at 3:12?
Ditch the tent and get a hammock in these kinda places. Give it a few nights and you will never go back to your tent
A hammock would be nice! But alas, I'll just use what I already have.
@@Cyclingabout understandable, but if you ever have the chance...😉
I just got a tarp & hammock setup and for warm weather it's freaking comfy! Winter gets more complicated and heavy
Hammock and underquilt can also be a bit lighter and smaller. And great because you don't need a flat place. Great video, thx.
Have you ever been bikepacking in austria?
Not yet!
@@Cyclingabout i would highly advise you to do so, because we have many beautiful routes
2 kudos for doing all this shit twice
