- As a newbie to the 2T KTM world, learning to maintain a KTM300 has been exciting. With some research and perseverance anyone can do it, but it helps to have some good tutorials/guides. So here I am sharing what I did and what I learnt along the way.
Cleaning the carb is one step in my journey to figure out why my KTM isn't starting. So I'm going to keep my fingers crossed as I go down this KTM rabbit-hole.

Great video! Super helpful while working on my 300. Thanks!
Thanks mate - I am rebuilding my 300s carb with the allballs kit. This video helped heaps. Liked and subscribed
Also… if you’re ever riding in Sydney. Give me a shout! 😄
I would certainly love to do some riding there!! I'll certainly reach out if I am!!
Great Video. Same issue on my EXC 300. How did you manage to get it to start again. Mine still refuses, even after carb, fuel and spark plug.
If it still isn’t staring and there is spark, One thing I would do is clean the actual carburetor body. Shoot some carb clean through the gas inlet and jet holes to make sure it is not clogged with oil/gunk residue. Hope it is running now. Thanks for the videos!
Air, fuel and spark. The first two look OK. Two stroke mowers are notorious for fowling the plug when left for too long. remove the spark plug, clean or replace. Most likely the issue. If not check for spark. BTW, You should invest in a jet file so you are using the correct size file for each jet..
Air Fuel spark! that was exactly the order i was going in. I kicked it over with no air filter (eliminating any airway blocks), then went onto fuel/carb. next step spark. I ordered a plug which just got here. So that's next!
"Jet File" that's what it's called ! thanks for that!!!
It's not related to the issue, but i also want to change the coolant and gear oil on this while i'm at it!
Great videos! Thanks for posting. How are you sure the jets and fasteners are torqued correctly? Are you just tightening by feel? I stripped the magnesium block on my ktm before. Big head ache.
Is that a Keihin PWK 36 ags?
