  • Thanks to T-Mobile for sponsoring this video! I head to different cities in Illinois, including Chicago to check out T-Mobile’s 5G Network with the new Samsung Galaxy S21+ 5G! Now that they have merged with Sprint, T-Mobile's 5G network is even larger! See some speed tests and real world examples. Check out T-Mobile 5G: www.t-mobile.com/coverage/4g-...

    Most places in Chicago it’s only about 30-40mbps faster from my testing. Neighborhoods - Jefferson Park, Elmwood Park, O’Hare area, Norridge, Rosemont, River Grove, Melrose Park just to name a few. It does seem to help with congestion though and that’s the only real world advantage I’d give it atm. Not something you need though... LTE speeds in the first place are supposed to be better than advertised but due to many factors they aren’t.
    Overall though T-Mobile is wayyyy better now in Chicago in general used to be pretty bad just a few years ago like I would only get good speeds when I traveled to rural Indiana just outside Chicago. A part of it could be the Sprint merger as well since Sprint was always the best in terms of speeds in Chicago beating out everyone else.

  • @rogerhonacki5610
    @rogerhonacki5610 Před 2 lety +2

    Let's get real. A 4G tower has a range of around 20 miles. A 5G tower can transmit effectively about 1500 meters (0.9 miles). If you live away from a city center its going to take them at least 5 years to get a tower that close to your house. Right now I have spotty coverage with 4G LTE in many areas, with 2 bars being the norm, and I'm two miles from Los Angeles county. Further, 5G wavelengths attenuate much more than 4G. So as you saw in the video that probably had an antenna at the mall, the house had 1/4 the signal, and that's in T-Mob's demo city! The average in 5G cities is only 56Mb. Further, if you live in Seattle don't bother because every time it rains or fogs up you'll be hard-pressed to hit the 5G tower at the end of the block if you're lucky enough to have a tower at all. I'm really supposed to believe that Verizon, a company with the best 4G coverage which is still inadequate, is going to spend enough money to put 400 antennas (20^2) for every 4G antenna? How about T-Mobile who just recently achieved 4G parity coverage with Verizon? Where's the money coming from? You! The plan is to charge metered cellular rates for every 5G connection, including your home! That's why Verizon sold all its fiber business to Frontier last year! Your home rates will skyrocket to pay for this infrastructure and your connection will be slower at home. Don't be fooled. 5G is for the provider, since it can service 1000x the number of connections at the same cost. So yeah, if you stand under the antenna or you're lucky enough to live right next to the antenna you'll get 465Mb. And the average is 56Mb, and that's twice 4G. But if you're 1000-1600 yards away you'll probably be paying premium prices for 4G speeds, and if its raining, none at all. Meanwhile at home you can already get 1Gb reliably under all conditions and may be able to get 10Gb soon if you have a wire, at normal monthly rates. Cellular? You're going to pay through the nose for all those antennas!

    I’m from NYC, and T-mobile costumer for over 5 years, but their 5G sucks is slower than the LTE, and we have 5G antenas everywhere, Verizon uses 5GUW, its super fast, I’m really considering to get Verizon, oh and btw T-Mobile 5G with 1300mbps is only inside the stores or a few fts from the store.

    s21 obviously has n260 and n261 support coming from that Tmobile store. the 300mbps is the mid band 5g that most people will get. Still good. However, a lot of people can't afford flagships and the Pixel 4a 5g does not support mmWave 5g n260 and n261 bands. For the 4a 5g customers, they'll get 300mbps max and probably average 25 - 55mbps in high congestion areas.
