    As someone who works at a Walmart and sells a lot of prepaid phones, the A03, A13, and now the A14 are easily some of the most popular phones. The A03 can be bought for about $50, which makes it easily the best phone you can buy at that price point in the store. (Quick note, the iPhone SE 2 is also a big seller, cause you can get it for $150 on 2 different prepaid carriers, so that's pretty cheap for an iPhone).

    One of the best things I did was stop buying flagship phones. For the first time ever, I bought a midrange phone, the Samsung A52S. It does everything I need and more, battery lasts longer than most flagships and I bought the phone outright rather than having a monthly bill

    • @Wiggibow
      @Wiggibow Před 11 měsíci +79

      This exactly, I had big plans to invest in a flagship iPhone for the first time in my life, but life happened and suddenly I could no longer afford to. Went with the Galaxy A13 (was only $60 through Boost Mobile at the time) and realized I genuinely have no legitimate reason to spend well over 10x that price for a fancy S series phone. The A13 does everything I need it to do and more, and battery life is spectacular. I eventually had to upgrade to the A14 because my A13 fell into some pickle juice at work and shorted out, it's basically the exact same phone with a better screen, I don't think they updated anything else besides the software.
      The only downside I've found thus far to these budget phones from a fairly light user like myself (mostly just use a phone for texting, calls, music, youtube, and basic internet browsing) is the cameras; they're pretty crap. Decent enough shots if you have good lighting; i.e. a nice sunny day outdoors, but the camera on the A13 and A14 might as well not even exist at nighttime or in a dimly lit room. I've never been a big picture taker unless I'm on vacation, so I can deal with it, but that is literally the only thing that could push me to spend so much more on a higher end phone.

The camera ended up being glitchy with all those features baked into it, and inaccurate because it made my face lighter. Was too big for my hands as well, so I now have an iPhone. I bought my mum an a72 in 2021 and twas the best decision I made for both of us. She prefers it over her previous S series for many reasons, including the massive battery. I know it's probably closer to the S series than the A series mentioned in this video but it still counts! Now some people may say, its irrelevant cause you can download an App to do it. NO, its not that simple, the Apps you download dont record se same as the native app, especially over calls or video calls where the sound will be totally muted for everyone in the 3rd party Apps.

    I have used flagship Samsung phones since the s8. Two weeks ago I bought a Samsung A04e and retired my s22 that was heavily used in my work as a courier(broke screen). The A04e is a low end model that I expected to be slow and buggy. I have used it now for the past couple of weeks and it has done everything my s22 did, although a bit slower. It connects to my galaxy watch and seems no different in that regard. It handles my courier routing software and mobile hotspot for my Android Auto head unit just as well as the s22 did. I don't know if it will hold up as long as the s22, but I am very pleased considering I spent less than $200 and I can still get the functionality I was getting from a phone that cost me over $1000. No contract either so less monthly cost.

    I'm on my fourth year with a Samsung Galaxy A50, and it's been great. The only issue is the battery is now barely enough for 5 hours of active use, but that's expected from an almost 4 year old phone. Still enough performance for everything i do, still getting updates and still holding up even after several hard falls. In fact my experience was so great, i've managed to convince 6 people in my family to go with samsung's budget/midrange phones, including two hardcore iphone fans.

      @Zaydan Alfariz Really wasn't an issue for me personally. My gf has an A52, and had an A71 before that, other family members have two A51s, an A13, an A03. And while A03 and A13 are the phones you get when thats's what you can afford, by the time you get to the A50 series, an average person will get all they need, and the processor won't even matter.
      All the cool and flashy stuff, new tech, etc. happens above our budget for a new phone anyway, and if you just want to get a phone for daily use - youtube, instagram, chats, occasional Hill Climb Racing session and some pdf viewing - the truth is, if you buy the latest A50 series entry, it will satisfy all those needs and you don't even need to know whats's inside of it.

    It works far better than the flagship phones that I've owned. The purchase of the Samsung A13 5g was an emergency, and the only decent phone for sale in an out of the way place. The camera works extremely well in a low light setting, superb macro, and the connection sensitivity is very good. For years I was sold on LG flagships, leaving Apple phones because of the battery debacle. Selling 80 million Samsung A series - astounding!

    Yeah, being a user of the A14 5G, from the day of its launch, I can genuinely say that it is a truly worth the cash, complete package. The experience is neat, haptics worth the price, and the camera- truly great for a phone costing 18K INR! I am into photography as a hobby, and I just love the camera!! The video is also fine, the FHD 30FPS just works great.
    Now these are my reviews after having tried other brands like MI and Oppo. The A14 is just so complete overall. 🙂

    Enjoyed your discussion. There are two points I would add. I know someone who owns a well-cared for A11 phone. She wants a phone that is just a phone. Talking, texting. That's it. All that amazing functionality available with a better quality phone means little to her. Also, she would no more carry a $1500 phone around (that could be lost or stolen or dropped) than casually carry around $1500 cash in her purse. Or $750. Or $300.

    I hate to say this, Arun, but I have smartphones in all three categories. Budget, mid-range and flagship. Each and every phone I have (and actually use) have protective cases. Mind you, the better the phone the more elaborate the case in some "cases", but I can't be using unprotected phones when they live in my pocket while not in my hand. That's most times, but I've proven that while you carry more than one phone at a time it doesn't mean you have to have one in your hands at all times. At one point I had three active smartphones on me at all times, but while on the clock at work they're all on either do not disturb or "Focus Mode:Work."

  • @kingb2k00
    @kingb2k00 Před rokem +161

    Absolutely spot on, I have the A13 5G model, the main reason for buying this was the 3yr software update, NFC and price (ZAR4700). I could've got the A24 or A34 but getting those meant that all I got extra was the 10W faster on charging speeds, OneUi instead of OneUi Core and the AMOLED screen but also meaning that I would've spent ZAR 2000 to ZAR 4000 more on getting that and an additional 2k just on accessories. It really is just about what you need and what you're willing to spend. There's no need to grab the latest flagship but end up not knowing how to use half of the features or just using it for plain old daily calls, text and social media.

    I've got a Samsung A04 (64GB ROM and 4GB RAM, Copper color) variant.
    When I made the initialization, I was extra careful what to tick on and off as I know Samsung's way to recover money with those apps and things.
    Overall, the phone is awesome. Not only it's powerful enough to play anything on it at over 30 fps stable, but it also provides a fairly big screen and storage to use for productivity and photography.
    In the video the phone is specified to be 129$, I bought it new for around 140$ half an year ago (probably since I'm in EU it's slightly more expensive).
    Althought, for other phones you would have to pay almost twice as much as the MSRP of this Samsung A04 just have the same specs.
    Samsung always was my phone to pick when in need of one, fairly priced, durable and cheap to fix in case something happens.

      I have the A03s. I also have an A54. I'm starting to like the A03s very much. It doesn't suffer from the relentless One UI updates of the A54, which frequently produce network problems that I must resolve by resetting network settings and which seem to produce no practical benefits. Tonight I did some night photography with the A03s; I was expecting it to flop entirely. I was shocked - despite the absence of "night mode", it did a nice job on still photos and an even better job on videos. My A03s was $150 and the A54 was $450. It strikes me that I'd probably be perfectly happy if both were the A03s.
