It seems like the format of 48 non-consecutive hours let a lot more people who can't normally do jams join
@Volpo your profile pic is very similar to the logo of lua.
We also see a lot more polish because theyre allowed to sleep and eat without it having a negative impact
Actually when there's more time even a noob to Game development like me can think of doing it for fun, not for winning but just for the sport.
I also like it more
This would not work the whole point of jams is you get the theme or in this case art, and have 48 hours. If you were allowed to take 5 days there is nothing stopping people from doing work all the time and going over 48
5:02 Hah, I made it into a Miziziziz video by grinding high scores xD
Nice, haha :)
I was so hyped for the jam! But I unfortunately had to evacuate my home due to the California fires during the middle of the jam, and all my progress was halted. In the end, I couldn't submit my game, but it was still super fun seeing everyone else work and playing their games!
😯
That sucks man. I hope everything turned out OK... Send me a link if you have a chance to finish your game, I'd love to play it.
Why not submit it in another game jam?
@@braindeveloperdimensional5579 For jams you pretty much have to make the entire game within the time limit so it would be disallowed
@@EverTheFractal The jams I have compete in allowed a rework of the previous Games I had made, but it was hosted by a C language framework community and it's not easy to build complete games from scratch in C within 24 or 48 hours.
HUUUGE shout out to the MONSTER CASINO developer, dude absolutely CRUSHED IT!!!!
Yeah I love that game, I legit ran around showing it to my friends the next day
wow symmetry looks incredible! very cool mechanic
Oh hey, early enough, thanks Miz for being a real big inspiration for me to want to start making games!
Yo me to, not the same platform but I’m still always looking at his vids for design ideas hopefully one day I’ll pick up unity or Godot but now I’m using core that’s layered over unreal and it has tons of built in assets
Kgbxyle Games good luck with it!
@@kgbxyle9709 late comment but what's Core like? I've seen a few youtubers being sponsored by it and i always wonder,
Is it good?
And does it live up to what those youtubers? (if you've seen youtubers being sponsored by it)
@@MidnightWanderer00 it's not better than Roblox. Roblox is better than Core, Godot, Unity and probably unreal engine
Imagine meeting someone through swing dance several years prior, having him move, then finding his CZcams channel by accident.
Bruh
W... What?
Really enjoyed being able to be a part of this Jam. It was my first one and I was able to make my first game. I'm happy to not only finish, come in 179th, but also to become part of a really great community. Thanks everyone!
Awesome video and a really impressive jam. I love that it distills the competition down to actual game design and execution, leveling the playing field a bit in terms of asset generation. For a video like this, maybe start at the 10th place (in this case) and work your way up to 1st? Just a thought. Great work!
A lot of people dont watch till the end of videos, I thought it would better to reward the people who did the best by putting them first
Thanks so much Miz for hosting this jam and for featuring Monster Casino!
Hey I competed and made a devlog for mine. Hope you get a chance to play it Miz! Congrats to everyone who participated lots of very fun and unique experiences to be had!
What a treat that was to watch congratulations!
Can i play these games somehiw
Thanks for hosting the jam, I definetly learned a lot. I submitted Auto-Gunslinger btw. I made a cameo on the final screen of the video lol.
Hey miz I just wanna say thank you so much for hosting this jam. Thanks to the jam I was finally able to make my first game and I’m really proud of it even though it came in 601st place
Amazing experience I really enjoyed participating in this jam. Next thing I'll do it's implementing an online leaderboard for Minigame Madness! Thank you for the feedback and for playing my game
You made Minigame Madness? That was my favorite game in the jam! Love it still and play it every now and then even today.
@@LuckyBird551 Wow, I'm really glad people still enjoy my game. This means so much to me. There's been a while that I don't gamedev, but you kinda made me want to get back to it. I might even update the game as well. Thank you!
Thank you for hosting the jam!
I really wanted to get into the top 10 but only got rank 132 overall which is completely fine as this was my first ever jam. I got good feedback from the community and most importantly I finished a game (or prototype at least) :D I made some poor decisions during development and could've had better priorities but that's all part of the experience plus I learnt a lot :D I hope you will host another jam in the future!
Most game jams' games aren't so interesting but this one managed to focus people on great game design ideas.
congrats to every participants
Good work to all the peeps who made an entry!
Thanks for the experience man! Had a great time
Miner Inconvenience was the cutest little game! Perfect 15 minute entertainment. At first I was like "Meh, story. Skip", but after 2 missions I quickly started loving it. 10 quick missions was the perfect length for a snack size story.
Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
Learned a lot from this jam and finally fully completed a game. Thanks, Miz, can't wait for MizJam2!
Your contribution to creativity and the dev cannot be understated! Thank you for all the amazing work you do!
I'm glad that you named this video just like the series that inspired it, and thanks again for such a fun game jam! the overall quality of games in this one was really high, and it was the first time that i made a jam game that i actually enjoy playing myself. Because of you, i discovered that i was wrong in thinking that this could never happen to me :) Looking forward to your future streams for games from the jam!
Great video and fun jam! Looking forward to the next one
Thanks for organizing one of the best jams I've entered! Love your stuff and I hope I can compete next year.
Thanks for hosting the jam! It was my first game jam and I really enjoyed it :D
Really fun game jam. Had a ton of fun participating. And everyone made really cool games. GG guys!
Nice game jam. Great video, too. Thanks for helping and supporting the community
Man, these guys are talented. I started my game dev journey a month ago and can't ever see myself being this talented
I didn't get my project done in time, but it was a lot fun to be a participant anyway! Thanks for making this happen!
Wow. These games are so well made. Good job to all the devs.
Very fun game jam!!! I will wait the next.. I am sure will be bigger
thats some top notch content miz, thanks
I love this GJ more than any other high profile game jams.
It takes away the overhead of negotiating the art kit with people.
Can focus more on game design and the grunt work of making it.
In the future, if everyone can have the same sound pack/kit as well, that would make it even greater, too!
I participated! This was a lot of fun, thanks for hosting the jam! This was my first game, and I'm happy that I managed to get in the mid 400s even with my game having a few errors that made it missing a few levels. Next time I'll do better!
I wish my only gamedev skill wasn't art, otherwise I would've totally joined this! The entires you showcased look insanely good.
Wow, these games are so polished, congrats to all developers
Game jams are mindblowing to me. This is just one of many but I feel like some of these top entries are so surprisingly polished and could’ve been huge hits if they had been released in the early days of the indie game boom
Really disappointed that I wasn’t able to participate. I was really excited to participate because I love the series that it’s based off of and I just think it’s really cool for everyone to use the same assets and try to make something creative. Unfortunately I got super busy and couldn’t submit anything but I really hope you decide to host another jam like this in the future :)
these are seriosuly impressive. props to all!
Most fun to play: your game! Great fucking job and the last level is genius!
I have never seen something like Symmetry before. Amazing.
5:41 You laughing at the end barely got through ;)
That's ridiculous but so funny!
Hot damn that's a lot of entries!
How did I miss that :(. Great initiative
7:16 It's me! Pog
Wow, those are incredibly good! Sadly I couldn't join the jam because I didn't know it was happening
Id love it if you played my group's game Dance Dance EXECUTION! It has a bunch of original music and everyone seemed to really enjoy it :) Thanks for the jam!
I managed to make my first game so i'm happy with coming 235th.
A lot learned, a lot to improve on but ultimately a great experience
This was such a fun event, thanks so much for setting it up! I decided to try making a devlog for the first time, that's up on my channel if you or anyone is interested in checking it out!
Think my choice of miz jam as my first jam didn't disappoint me, there are so many genius ideas and games around
never been this early, just want to say I love your content and I hope you continue getting the recognition you deserve.
great inspiring Video , Tnx !
I would love to participate in your next jam.
I loathe game jams but this one got me interested. Next time I'll have to participate.
I submitted OBAKE and had a great time with the jam. A lot of cool people on the Discord! :)
You made a alternate account to not gain a unfair advantage
CHAD 👏
Every game looks so unique that i forgot they were all using the same art kit
"You live in hell and Satan just raised the rent." describes the year 2020 perfectly
Miz should probs go play some cards to enjoy the next jam
Townfolks is literally exactly like a game I was planning...
He made a 2D version of 7 days to die.
Just perfect
Geeez these games are amazing! Far out when can i make something at that level within that amount of time??
No problem! I'm glad I joined. Shame you didn't end up playing mine, but oh well! :)
yo i was there for that live stream bruh
That one where you rotate the level seems so cool and I'm really curious how you'd program that
Achievement unlock : make your first game jam game
Exp+
For my first jam this was a very good experience ! I would love to make true devblogs about the tech behind my game but since I'm not english, for the moment I only have gameplay.
I guess I'll do it for Mizjam2 !
Yesterday I found out that one of the mobile games i've played alot was a simplification of slay the spire. Today I found out it used this art pack!
Damn, I expected to see a bunch of buggy games with boring ordinary mechanics, but damn how wrong I was. I actually want to play some of these, which is rarely happening to me even with worldwide-popular projects.
If you wouldn't tell that these games was made in 48 hours, they would look like solid projects on Steam to me.
Also the secret participation and reveal was funny, lol.
wow, amazing
Aw I thought you were ganna play and would have an episode since you ended thing 4 game developers with the same art kit
The mobile game Dungeon reels uses this art pack...
If you wandered what's this pack, its the 1 bit pack from Kenney www.kenney.nl/assets/bit-pack
Next video: the entire world population jam off of the same art kit
Holy shit I'm impressed
Yay spreadsheets got me a shoutout!
Wow, it turned out bigger than the others. Now I have to at least do something for a next one ! Not as stressing to fail when you are just one bad game between 700 other games haha.
Miz, you can't make top 10 list, and start from number 1
2:53 some MINER nitpicks
Nice pun
very cool
i imagine he dabbed on the viewers when he revealed he made a game on stream
I thought this was going to be a video essay on why all indie devs make pixel art games
I wanted to see last place
Will you be hosting a second game jam on itch this year?
*Neat :)*
Cool concept... I wonder if there's a way to do this with shared game audio assets too? 🎧💙👍
Nice.
I unfortunately ended up having a major bug i my game, and also didn’t upload all the files I needed for the game to work :(
Ahh, lol I'm currently working on a project called Minigame Madness. Idk how to feel abt other people using the name. Lol I'm not mad since it's a pretty simple name and plus it's impossible to be totally original and its not like he knew I was making a game with the same name.
Is there a link to this art kit? And will there be another one of these, hate i missed it and sounds like fun
When does the next jam start?
making my game was fun even though i didn't really polish it haha
anyone know what art kit is used in the game jam?
pog
Try my game from game jam its call "Hook Around"
HOLY $H1T
Where can i download the sprite sheet
What’s the outro song?
how often do you do jams?
So, I kind of want to try using this tileset. How do I get it?
