The reason Tywin made that comment about a literate stone mason, is that the ability to ready and write was not needed for common people to do their work so a lot of them could not. It was his way of saying that Arya's backstory was already shaky.

Bro they not only not needed reading skill that's not the main reason. Do you have any idea how much 1 book costed back there ? How few people who were ready to teach others there were ? It's not cause they didn't need reading much they had no ability to learn or afford learning.

The reason Tywin said 'be careful' to Arya's question if he knew many stone masons is because it was meant as a dig, and it was obvious to Tywin. Arya was implying as a wealthy lord he didn't have any connection with common folk, so how would he know what they were capable of?

The "simple question" by Arya to Tywin was nearly a big slip as it was a quick witted response and insulting to Tywin as he was to high up the food chain to even know/talk to a stonemason putting him in verbal check. Tywin immediately recognises the simple question for what it really was and warns her before ending their verbal spar.

This is such a great Cersei episode, it really gives her such depth as a character, how basically everything she does at this point is for her children, flawed or not. Sheds more light on how upset she was that her daughter was sent away for marriage. She clings to power because she knows well what will happen to her children if their rule gets overthrown, they’ll be butchered. I do think overall Cersei is the best character of the series (except maybe her dad).

A few thoughts on the episode:
I'm fairly certain, even though Tywin really likes Arya, that he didn't give her his food out of good nature. He was too suspicious because of the attempted murder on "him" that someone might try to poison him.
The moment between Tyrion and Cersei, which you found weird, I think was meant to show that even when they feel connected on something for once, they can't express it. With "normal" siblings, you would probably expect a comforting hand on the shoulder or a hug in such a situation, but the two are too emotionally distant from each other for that.
The woman talking to Jorah Mormont, who doesn't reveal herself, has already mentioned who she is. Last episode, or the episode before that. I'm not sure. You guys probably just don't know what to do with her answer. I'm excited to see when you guys figure it out. :)

I know this is old, but I'm just catching up with your old GoT vids...
When you eat a cow, the meat is called "beef."
When you eat a pig, the meat is called "pork."
When you eat a deer, the meat is called "venison."
And when you eat a sheep (or a goat, in some places), the meat is called "mutton."

Only 2 people that ever managed to make Tywin Lannister smile was his beloved Lannister wife that died the day Tyrion was born (they were first cousins, and yeah that shit is gross, but they're Lannisters), and Arya Stark.

The show doesn’t really get into Tywin’s backstory much but per the books the reason Tywin is such a hard ass is because his father was a softie. In the book Tywin says his father’s banner men mocked him openly and his father was taken advantage by Tywin’s stepmother. When Tywins father died Tywin kicked his stepmom out of town naked.
