In fairness to Baumann, he did not allow a hit (or run) when he came in for Means. He got out of the inning, then pitched two more scoreless. Key to that game, as you said.

@@vaughnjb Yes, but it was stated that Baumann gave up a hit to allow the 4th run to score. But Means gave up that 4th run. Baumann's hit was the next inning, right before the double play. So, he was even better than was stated.

Time to get rid of Urias. Call up Mayo.
I dont know why Kjerstad is up. I have told people this, why isnt Mayo up right now. Mateo has been good, and he can still be used in my scenario, but Urias has not, and Kjerstad hasnt given much. We need infield help right now and if Holiday isnt ready, Mayo will work. Mayo has had more time and success in AAA and he fits this team perfectly. If he is up, against righties, the infield would be Mayo at third, Gunnar at SS, and Westburg at 2nd where he is best. Mountcastle can be at first and Ohearn at DH. In the outfield you can have Cowser in LF, Santander in RF, and Mullins (if he can get out of the struggle in CF). If Mullins Continues to Struggle, when Hays comes back, Hays can be LF, Cowser in CF, and Santander in RF and Mullins can be used as defensive help and fill in some. And in against lefties the infield could look like this Westburg at 3rd, Gunnar at SS, and Mateo at 2nd. Mountcastle at 1st and Mayo could go to the DH spot with that power. OHearn wont play because he is a lefty and in the outfield when Hays comes back it can be Hays LF, Mullins/Cowser CF, and Santander in RF. This stops McCann from being the DH against lefties so we have our backup catcher. If adley needs a DH day, Mayo could be moved to Third and Westburg to 2nd or Mateo can stay in and Mayo can be a bench bat. Urias would be almost a full time utility player and can play anywhere in teh infield and I still dont get why Mayo isnt up. You could also call up Norby who can play some outfield and that would still be better than Kjerstad right now in my opinion. When Hays comes back, if Mullins and Santander wasnt struggling, I think they would send down Kjerstad and during this time Mateo has done well but that is mostly against lefites and urias hasnt done well at all and he is known for his fielding and that has been spotty. Urias can still have a role on this team definitely if Holiday isnt ready but to me it is gm misjustice not to give another infielder a shot. I think Elias is scared of 2 things, one that ig tehy do call up Mayo or Norby that they will struggle like Holiday did which is possible but will it be that bad or will they be better than urias. 2 which is wierd what happens if they do extremely well and they block out Holiday. That qould be a problem. It wouldnt be as bad for norby who can play LF and our outfield has been spotty lately but Mayo only can fit in at 1st, 3rd, and DH. And Mountcastle and Ohearn still have to still play most days, definitely against Righites. And Westburg and Gunnar have to play everday. All of this to say, Elias does have to make a decision soon and most likely it will be when Hays comes back. He will have a big role definitely against lefties and Mckenna will probably be DFAed unless they keep mckenna and Hays and send down Kjerstad but Hays is just a better mckenna so that doesnt make sense. So when he comes back, Elias will need to make a decison. My guess he will keep Kjerstad up until Holiday is ready to come back. He wont bring up Mayo before Holiday comes back even though Mayo has more sucess in AAA and is older. Even though Kjerstad is older, he had myocarditis and has been injuried so Baseball age level is lower and I still think he needs more time. Mayo can hit hard balls which translates to the Majors well. Also he has improved his fielding to average at worst and at worse the Orioles can put urias in the 9th inning as a defensive replacement but if Mayo hits, the Orioles will take that. When Holiday is ready to come back up, if Mayo has struggled, you can send him back down but iuf he has hit well, than the Orioles will have to make a decision. If Mullins struggles later in the season, they could release urias and have a lineup like this against Righties: Westburg Third, Gunnar SS, Holiday 2nd, Mountcastle 1st, Adley Catcher, Mayo DH, Hays/Ohearn LF, Mullins/Cowser CF, Santander RF. Mayo might not play against Righties and Santander or Ohearn can play DH and teh outfield could have Santander, Mullins, Hays, or Cowser. Against Lefties the orioles could have: Mayo third, Gunnar SS, Westburg 2nd, Mountcastle 1st, Ruschman C, Santander DH, Hays LF, Mullins CF, Cowser RF or if Holiday gets better he can play 2nd and westburg at third and gunnar at short, and Mayo can DH and Santander can replace Cowser or Cowser can move to CF and Mullins can sit. Or if Mateo is still hitting lefties Mateo can play 2nd and Westburg at third and Mayo DH. IF Ruschman DHs and McCann plays C against lefties, Mayo can play third and Westburg 2nd and teh outfield can be Hays, Mullins, and Santander. Urias would be off the team in this scenerio. This wont happen this yr but I show how against righties and lefties how this could work. Having Ohearn in LF would be easier definitly when we are not at home but at home Hays or Cowser should be in LF but Ohearn didnt look terrible and he could play out there if Mullins continues to struggle and Mayo and Holiay are up. This is only a problem if both Mayo and Holdiay are up which proably wont happen until later on. Even when we add a player in Septemeber, if Mayo or Holiday are already up, unless tehy call up norby or release urias or there is an injury to an infielder, their extra postion player call up will be probably an outfielder

I'm not reading all that, but he's up because they trust him to play well when he doesn't get every day AB. He'll get his time, not everyone is Gunnar. Westy had to share time last year. We have too many MLB ready/quality players. It's a great problem to have. Stop being spoiled

I've said it all year. Undisciplined at the plate. That's why it seems we are really hitting the ball someday and then someday, nothing. We will make it to the playoffs for sure but when we face good pitching we will start chasing and golfing at balls in the dirt. That's the product of Undisciplined hitting. Look good against mediocre pitching and look bad against good pitching
