Doug's impression of both Pennywise's are spot on. And the Tommy impression was great too. He is actually a really good actor.
I think Rob did the original Pennywise
Coolkid Are you serious?
Doug did both. Not only does it look exactly like Doug, but you can view the behind the scenes on the channel. Also ask yourself whyneither of the clowns are on screen at the same time as critic. It’s because Doug is playing all 3.
Great director to
Actually not that great a Tommy impersonator
He's not wearing a tux or tossing the ball :D
Ambience is key. Prime example: the success of Five Nights at Freddy's. The amount of 'ambience' THAT has can speak for itself.
Isn't that the truth
14:38 "He's been possessed by the comment section!" NICE!!! LMAO
Nick Craig X’D
That actually sounds like a scary story idea!
That "The Room" reference at the end had me dying of the floor laughing
35:45-35:53 For those who are looking for it.
The NC cracks me up! I don't care what anyone says!
I do too! That man had always done QUALITY stuff since 10 years ago!!
Giovanni Orellana He puts quality into his content. I always enjoy his vids.
You’re right
Same
Here here!!!
36:27 Let's see what the book says.
Nate: NO!
Apparently you know what it says too. 🤢
In my opinion, Metroid Fusion has the best soundtrack at times, especially when you only hear Samus's armor walking near you, its terrifying and amazing
The music also works there; It's letting you know that your immediate vicinity is NOT SAFE.
Fusion's sound design in general was impeccable. From the music to the effects to how crunchy missiles were, it was just fantastic.
I think the point of the dancing scene was that Beverly has overcome her fear of Pennywise and It is desperately trying anything It can think of to scare her, so it's probably supposed to be kind of ridiculous.
39:39 The biggest fanboy moment Nate and Ben will ever have
That jaw drop! He's so happy XD!!
Wences Acosta I don’t get why they are excited can someone explain
@@landodoesreviews3300 Watch "Who's on First". The classic for any comedian
And 36:27 has one of Nate's best freak out moments
@@GayLatinoBear It’s performed by Abbott and Costello.
I can understand Ben's oppinion about soundtracks in movies, but it's not always like that. the Guardians of The Galaxy movies are a great exception.
Nameless Or literally any movie scored by John Williams.
And American Grafitti, and Amadeus, and a good chunk of silent movies, or movies scored by John Williams, or Lord of the Rings...hmmm I guess it's bullshit.
No music works best in long dramatic scenes, horror and certain spots where you don't need music to push or control emotional involvement.
for example the music of lord of the rings is supposed to be epic to match the grand and greatness of the fantasy adventure that is the material
Jaws uses the music well to build up the suspense and fear as the shark is under the water and we don't see it that much,
While there are several moments in Alien and Aliens where there is no music, which adds to the horror and danger of the atmosphere in the scene.
IT 2: The Killing Joke ;3
The ANIME MUSIC VIDEO GEEK GOD, Pennywise meets the Joker?
I disagree with the idea that the soundtrack isn’t supposed to be thought about. Sometimes subtle works, like in Dunkirk. Other times the soundtrack makes the moment more intense like in Halloween or more awesome like in The Avengers or Jurassic Park.
Thomas Grindol Spielberg said that half of the reason Jaws was such a hit was because of William’s score. If you watch Jaws scenes without music, it’s extremely underwhelming...
@@Gojirawars03 same with SW... imagine ESB without the likes of The Imperial March
Who else loves replaying 35:42
Me. XXDDDD
@@ResurrectTheChainsmoker hows that
You forget Renegades. We're always watching you. Always watching. Always.
is this a monsters inc reference?
please say yes!
Finally! IT's here! and yes micah, he would've been an amazing Joker. Just like Robin williams would've been a good riddler/two face or even Joker.
I mean you’re not wrong, but if he got the role and Mark Hamil never got to be the Joker, that would be awful.
true but come on man...at least release the eps mr. curry did.
NC's joker is actually pretty eccentric and fucking insane, I LOVE IT!!!!!!!
It wasn't Doug doing that Joker voice. It was Rob Walker his brother
36:25 Truthfully, The Best Reaction Ever
Why did he have that reaction
Hassan Rao You REALLY do not wanna know
I haven't read the book. Could you just tell me
Basically, after the defeat Pennywise, Beverly (or whatever her name was) has sex with all the boys so they can focus and find their way out of the sewers. Keep in mind, they are all children, barely, if at all, teenagers.
Stephen King apparently wanted this to symbolise the kids become adults. But virtually everyone agrees it was weird.
wow that is weird
Nostalgia critic beat that new kids on the block gag with a dead horse
The film showed it for 10 seconds and everyone laughed....and then it was done
Pretty sure how thats how jokes were done. Take something and blow it way out of proportion, New Kids on the block sucks though
Black Rosè yeah
But the way he made it out was it tries too be an 80s movie when there was only 1 80s joke
Doug stated himself that "new kids on the block" was the only 80's that the movie did cram down your throat early on in the review and left it at that, technically you're taking what he said out of proportion as well
"It's the only 80's they try to cram down you throat" ---NC
not too mention the original one with tim curry was n 80's film and he's comparing the two.
While I agree while having your soundtrack be subtle, just listening to the IT (2017) soundtrack on its own, it’s actually quite good.
It 2: The Shining of Carrie's Miserable Dark Tower.
Weird Guy 149. Featuring Cujo in the Dead Zone with the Firestarter on 11/22/63
Chad Riggs Brought to you by the Prometheus School of Running Away From Things.
Weird Guy 149, the combination of five fucking Stephen King movies, three from which are ACTUAL movies, and ONE from which is ACTUALLY better than the other! I will give you guess on what I am talking about.
Funny thing is in the dark tower they actually call the kids psychic abilities "their shine"
Weird Guy 149 With a cameo by Christine.
0:44 The face of a true demon
THANK GOD THE COMMENTS CAN NOW SHUT UP ABOUT THIS
Wences Acosta there will always be more
I thought they were talking about It? What’s This? Is This a Thing? ;)
IT 2: it takes manhatten
I like how the overall theme of the review is based off the Batman the animated series episode “Almost got em”
IT was a decent movie I normally wouldn't touch horror films but with doug's reviews and I watched the original as a kid and was scared as hell seeing the review made me less scared and I wanted to see the remake
"It's Definitely Not A Spider We Swear" coming to a theater near you.
"It 2: It Ends"
*Two years later*
Me: I think you just foreshadowed the sequel title... kind of. 😐
This is one of Doug’s best reviews you gotta admire how he took the time to put on all that that makeup and dress for TWO different pennywise version and take time to edit to look like all three are having a real conversation👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
That alone is why this is one of my favorite reviews he's ever done. I myself LOVE the book, but neither film is perfect. There's pros and cons to both. Though objectively, one could argue that the new one is better, I'm including Chapter 2 with it as well, I will always remember the original with Tim Curry. Like Doug said, it had personality. The new one tried to do a lot of different things.
14:25 Chico’s 😡
When he started transforming into their fears I started yelling riddikulus #potterhead
Prisoner Of Azkaban? Professor Lupin? Closet Monster?
@@JesusGonzalez-qv9ih Boggart.
Moony will be proud
Tim Curry IT: "You sound like possessed Olaf from Frozen."
Bill Skarsgard IT: "Go back to haunting Ferngully!"
I didn't catch that before, but it's pretty obvious the second time.
One of Doug’s best episodes.
"Oh hi kids, hahaha!"
14:24 you invaded his safe space
Oooh Finally! I love watching your reaction ^^ I've been waiting for this one since it came out!
That was a good intro though. I liked the randomness of it.
So sick of people shitting on Doug Walker, nice to see there are still people who care about him.
I gotta say, I really respect that fact that in this video, you pause the video to talk, thus defeating any chance of missing anything! Kudos!
Jeremiah Jackson About giving Nostalgia Critic reviews a month out before actually reacting to it
Video starts at 5:26
Ed Where’s Edd n Eddy
MusicGirl881 I Killed them
Thanks again Ed
Thanks, Cal-ed
Thanks Ed *tosses some buttered toast at you*
It 2: Because you know we want to stretch this into a trilogy
DextersLab13 hah
To be fair this one should be at least 2 movies. The original crammed down the events from when they were kids and when they were adults and it didn't flow very well. Especially when they repeated the same beats over and over. A character is introduced, flashback to when they were kids, then show their first Pennywise encounter, he scares them and leaves, back to the present, rinse and repeat.
Have they done the terrible Avatar movie?
Yes critic made one
No they didn't react to it yet
Avatar's not that horrible, I thought James Cameron did a good job on it.
joyunicycle i mean the
Avatar the last airbender movie made by fuck up lord shamalan.
Kalle Ekström shhhh we do not speak of the evil that belongs to the Shyamalan.
joyunicycle after seeing it i had to watch the entire show as therapy.

IT 2: IT Returns, IT's IN 3-D!!! God I love how much fun you guys have with these videos.
1:54 I'm watching! Who else doesn't usually skip their monologues ;)
Played Fallout 3 and New Vegas to be honest THOSE!!!! was a fun,but annoying quest if you do it before Operation Anchorage if you want to do the optional part. Like fighting a deathclaw Queen in a quarry.
You know what floats? Dead bodies in the water
Ben sounded little more of Krusty the clown. I need meme me! Ring tone. Bill fit the well so well.
Ooh I love your commentary on how a soundtrack is supposed to be. Bravo.
I'm glad you guys have started pausing the video when you talk. It's a lot easier to follow you without the video running as well.
I was not expecting that Mark Hamill Joker appearance. Definitely appreciated
Been waiting for this!
You guys do awesome reactions. Could you guys do a reaction of HISHE’s villain pub? Doesn’t matter which, your choice.
React to all episodes of Villain Pub
After watching the Nostalgia Critic I asked my husband why they seemed shocked.
He warned me, but I wanted to know.
So when you had that reaction to them looking at the book I knew why and agree with you.
I’m surprised that the critic didn’t talk about the weapon the kids used to try and kill penny wise. Instead of just a slingshot, they bring a device used to kill sheep, they even use it in killing pennywise’s illusion of Billy’s brother.
Knowing Doug, he prolly didn't even know what that was, especially considering he *sucks* at paying attention to what's happening on screen.
Sountrack is not supposed to be noticed? Tel Doom that. Or star wars. Those soundtracks were very noticeable, and also did not take away from the movie/game.
Soundtracks can be noticed, but it has to be well impletemented.
FINALLY A video where Ben’s jaw drops! Hope to see more of that in the future!
Avengers: Infinity War-We promise no one will die.
18:55-19:02 Hahahaha! That WAS a good jab at FernGully.
Honestly this movie with the dance ridiculous bad cgi, and pennywise's permanent wall eyes, this thing is somewhere between funny and scary
I think this might be one of his best reviews. While I not nescessarilt agree to everything, he makes his points clear and shows how to fix the things wrong instead of just saying they are bad. He didn't even ruin the scenes he didn't like for me by picking them appart because he makes so much sense. Fuck, he seems like he even really liked the movie despite its flaws. Also, the sketches weren't that over the top compared to other reviews, which is weird since this review is just sketches. Those lame jokes really started to draw me away from Nostalgia Critic at some point, and of course he made the lame ass gang bang joke. By the way, his portrayal of 2017 pennywise was amazing! He got so many mannerisms right
Just one thing that I've been seein since the very first pictures of pennywise started showing up that the critic mentioned at the very beginning and never made sense, and that is that as a clown, it's supposed to be friendly at first and when you get your guard down it kills you. That's so wrong! The only part of the books where he does that is when it kills Georgie, and then it just shows up as werewolves, leeches, mummies or whatever, and when it confronts the kids as pennywise the dancing clown the kids already know it's after them to kill them, so he doesn't play nice anymore. Hell, in the movie even when he tries to make Georgie laugh with the Pop! pop! pop! line he goes back to being intimidating again because Georgie is starting to feel comfortable again and it wants Georgie scared, which I thought was really well done. I mean, even if you made a clown on the sewers friendly it's still going to be creepy as fuck, so I'm glad the 2017 movie didn't play too much with that.
Second, the cliches he mentioned. Beverly wasn't a damsel in distress. Had it been any other character no one would have mentioned it, but just because she's the girl the movie is sexist. Fuck, she was the only one who wanted to fight it and stick with Bill, if anything she has more balls than the rest of the club combined. Damsel in distress goes beyond "captured girl". As red from overlysarcasticproductions pointed out, it's all about the mind set. She didn't give up and said fuck it I'm going to wait to be rescued, but she had no means of fighting back. She had conquered her fears when she stood up to her father and face him herself. If Bill or Ben had rescued her from her father's abuse, then I'd agree with her being a damzel in distress, but It capturing her is completely different. As for the "kiss of true love" thing, the kiss works because Ben thought it'd work because it's a cliche in movies, but here it works "in real life". That is a theme throughout the final comfrontation in the novel, and I'm surprised Doug mentioned that considering he's read the novel. The silver rocks or the battery acid on Eddie's inhaler is the book's way of showing that, and the kiss and the gun are the movie's. In fact, I think the kiss works much better than the gun, because why the fuck would Bill think the gun would work if it isn't loaded? Especially since Mike tells him that it's not loaded seconds before he shoots it. I think the movie didn't do the theme justice in that regard.
As for his last point, he calls Tim Curry's pennywise funny, and Bill Skarsgard's scary, as if Bill's portrayal was just that. He pulled a lot of laughs in the movie, such as teasing Eddie about eating him, or waving the half eaten arm to Mike. That's funny in the creepiest way possible, and wasn't that what he meant by being both funny and scary? In fact, he calls Pennywise on that saying he's too goofy... That didn't make much sense. I agree on Tim Curry's portrayal though. Maybe because I saw it 20 years too late, or maybe because I had seen all the memes before, but he never struck me as scary, at any point of the mini series, I don't know. This point in particular seems like one of those "let's agree to disagree" arguements.
He also called anthrax "silly music", what the fuck!
Thank you for explaining that. I think it's a great respectful gesture to do that for him. ^_^
Can you guys react to “Nostalgia Critic Does PG Mean anything Anymore.”
“IT” takes Manhattan!
When I saw this in my feed I thought "YESSSSS!!!"

The boat transition says the S.S.DEADMEAT on it.
IT chapter 2: We need a Grammy award
What about John Carpenter's _Halloween_ soundtrack? That's always noticed. And the scores by Bernard Hermann ( _Psycho_ especially).
Ryan Hartwell Most famous horror movies had an iconic theme associated with them. Psycho, Jaws, Halloween, Saw, 28 Days Later, The Excorcist, etc.
23:15 What about Jaws? The music created half of the tension in that film and more than made up for every time it was off-screen.
Can't wait to see you guys react to Chapter 2.
What you said about soundtracks forgets one thing: John Williams. His music is noticeable yet goes with the scene perfectly because he is the man.
Love that Brutal Legend reference
I would love to see you watch the behind the scenes
Your dog probably watched a compilation video of Ben's Nappa voice

This is Doug's best clipless review .
11:26 when someone dares me into going into a haunted building or use a quiji board.
You're right Ben that was the longshot.
24:12 I both agree and disagree.
A movie can work with a powerful soundtrack, and others cant.
The soundtrack can be part of the action and not distracting. You can here only it watching something and it can still work beautifully. Best example I can think of it the How To Train Your Dragon movies, as the music is what drew me into that franchise.
Yes, certain scenes and movie don't work with a loud soundtrack, but some do.
I've heard u guyd said in the video that u'll b reacting 2 more Nostalgia Critic within a month. So that means no reacting 2 any of his Christmas movie or special reviews next month of the entire December? Dang it. I was looking forward 2 u guys reacting to his reviews of Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer, How The Grinch Stole Christmas the Jim Carrey movie (I still like the movie), We Wish You A Turtle Christmas and all of his Top 12 Christmas Lists.
Rob: Here’s the thing…
Malcolm: Let’s not bring John Carpenter into this.
Nate: Nope!
Me: Let’s not bring Jordan Peele into it either.
Guys your Thoughts on the soundtrack are not only right on the money, they are lessons that the crew on the Soundtrack didn't understand.
Plus. Dumb-ass movie critics praised the soundtrack
I presume as the movie ended with the title card and "Chapter One" the second part would be called "It: Chapter Two".
Well, Tim Curry may have never gotten to play the Joker, but he did voice Palpatine in The Clone Wars Animated Series.
You guys should do Mad Max Fury Road next
14:39, may God help them.
Before they started beating him up, was his last transformation supposed to be that weird guy from the Room or someone else. I honestly am not sure
