They actually did the thing from the book for this one in IT2017. Pennywise makes his eyes blue, like georgie's mother, to make him feel at ease.
True true
I had always thought the _"they float"_ meant, dead bodies floating in water, not like, floating around in the middle of the air.
i envisioned it as their spirits floating in a place inside 'It' or some kind of alternate dimension.
The book explained better and the mini series didn't make it clear.
This is exactly what I thought too.

“No kid would be drawn to someone that scary looking.”
Jokes on him. The kid who played Georgie was actually upset when he came on set and Pennywise wasn’t there.
Food for thought; the costume designers were actually concidering to go with scarier Pennywise faces but decided it was best to go with a design most people associate with at the circus and party events in the t.v. mini series.

Holy shit. The 1990s IT mini series isn't scary, it's more funny. I mean a clown with the had of a dog and did u notice that other people who have responded to u have pennywise as their profile pic
Director Andy Muschietti kept Bill Skarsgård separate from the child actors up until they had to shoot scenes together. On the day of their first scenes together, the production staff warned the kids about how scary Skarsgård could be while in character. The kids brushed this off, claiming that they knew he was just an actor in a costume and that they were professionals and would be fine. However, when the time came for Skarsgård to be Pennywise for the scene, the kids were genuinely terrified.
I think he even made the kid playing Georgie cry at some point.
I still can't believe people fell for that

Initially (in both the book and the movie) Georgie was wary of Pennywise as he should have been. Then... Pennywise changes his eyes to look like Georgie's mother's to make him feel more comfortable on a subconscious level.
That actually happened in the film. His eyes start out yellow and than go blue.

Doug does a great job at portraying both versions of pennywise and its amazing.
I couldn't even tell he played them, he did such convincing performances! And the makeup was fantastic.
Doug does raise some fair points. I’ve worked at a horror attraction as a clown for many years. Often times I start with the scary and if they aren’t biting I transition into funny. Clowns aren’t strictly scary, and the Pennywise persona is as much about being scary as it is about being funny and inviting. Usually if someone doesn’t find me scary I lull them into a false sense of security so a Co-Worker can scare them. Good horror works well when people either aren’t expecting it or are lulled into the security before the scare happens.
Phillip Cozzi gets it.
👍
It's kind of how I preferred Tim Curry as Pennywise as he was a clown that was scary as opposed to the new one which is the other way round
there was a handed corn maze that I went to a few years back and the clown figured out that I am bad about clowns, and proceeded to offer me a balloon while covered in blood and grinning his ass off. way worse then when he was running and yelling.
@Phillip Cozzi yes, definitely. This is my first year working as a clown (we just finished up the season) and I figured out about half way through the season that it's good to be scary and funny, depending on the situation. It's good to lure them into a sense of security before scaring them with something more frightening.

What's the episode?
Frozen Kebab His review for Hannibal
This whole thing is a reference to a Batman animated series episode called I think "almost got em"
Both open with a poker/card playing game
Both involve villans arguing about one topic
Both have a plot twist at the end. Nostalgia critic being the joker and in the show Batman being killer croc
That episode just so happens to be nostalgia critic's favorite in the whole series
And animated joker made a cameo
I imagine that 90% of you already know this so thanks for reading
Oh I almost forgot when they say "I almost got it" it's a reference to the line in the episode where the villan s say "I almost got him" aka Batman
Also it is hinted that nostalgia critic is the joker during the part where nostalgia critic walks in because it's similar to how the joker makes his entrance in the episode.
Sorry for the wall of text
I don't think it can be helped. Cool that you spotted the reference and pointed it out.
Edward Ender
Don't forget the homage to "Who's on first!"
Edward Ender actually it was Poison Ivy who made an entrance in the episode not Joker
It's also my favorite episode of the series.
Dude your wall is so big donald Trump will be hiring you.
The dancing scene may have been ridiculous, but to be fair unlike the original or even the book, Pennywise the DANCING Clown actually dances in this version.
he danced in the first one too, when the Losers Club encountered the picture book.
When I watched that scene everyone was laughing but me. that was the most scary thing. It was so awkward and unnatural and the head.... god the head... I gonna have nightmares again
Gola245 what does any of that matter? he still danced in the mini series
Does that even matter?
Gola245 I thought we were talking about dancing. seems like you're picking at the other flaws of the mini series because you forgot Tim Curry danced as Pennywise lol
The film projector scene was genuinely the only moment in the movie that consistently freaks me out no matter how many times I watch it. I know it's coming and it somehow still gets to me
Like me and the dogs crashing through the window in the original Resident Evil. I know they're there but the sudden sound of glass breaking gets me to jump every time
The sheer amount of production value and care put into this is incredible

22:48 - the entire definition of this scene in the movie
You know, having re-watched this review multiple times I have an idea as to how they could've possibly made the leper scene a bit more scary. When the blurred focus becomes the reveal of the leper it shows him in a much more severe stage of the disease and even progressively has pieces of him falling off, then his flesh melts off as he chases after Eddie.
Once Eddie thinks he can stop to rest and thinks he has gotten away, he sees a broken off hand latched to his shoulder and progressively gripping onto him as he tries to pull it off. The hand tries to grab Eddie by the throat and he fights to keep it off of him, having it eventually fall as though dead. I feel like that would be at least somewhat more likely to get some scares.
It's like Americans have never seen 80s Italian horror....
@@fkrkf I don't know if he was still working in the 80's or not, but I've heard the name Lucio Fulci and how he often includes damage to the eyes as part of his scares in his movies. I like to call it Ocular Horror. There's probably already a much better official name for it, but I still like how it sounds lol
In the book, the Leper actually tries to rape Eddie. When the Leper sees Eddie he says "I'll suck your dick for a dime." And when Eddie refuses he says "I'll do it for free." and tries to grab him. The movie cut out a lot of sexual assault and violence that was in the book. I don't blame the film makers though, an accurate movie version of the book would be NC-17 if they were lucky and likely would be banned in half of the world. King really likes his horrifically detailed depictions of violence against women and children. They make the book so hard to read but really do create the tone that makes his books stand out.
Personally, I’d take the opposite approach. Have it build up towards a scare but then reveal a harmless if not disheveled homeless person. Eddie declines out of Germophobia and the homeless person begins to heckle Eddie, seemingly offended. As Eddie tries to walk away faster and faster, THAT’S when the homeless person begins slowly deteriorating while still berating Eddie before grabbing his shoulder to reveal the face from the finished film. Eddie screams and runs while the homeless man stands still and laughs before the Pennywise reveal. You ramp up the tension, reinforce themes of stranger danger and make the audience question whether or not this threat is from Pennywise or Derry.
@@RockySamson I have to admit, that would be pretty awesome :D Good thinking! :)
I never would've thought someone could combine Simpsons type credits with a Batman the Animated Series episode and It. I'm deeply impressed.

That's what I said the first time I saw Heath Ledger's Joker and said I found him joyless. My teacher said he wasn't supposed to be funny and I'm just like...but he's a clown...
Fun fact, clowns were never sposed to be funny.
I actually loved how Tim Curry’s Pennywise was portrayed in this review. His line delivery is fucking hilarious.
Personally, I prefer the relationship as portrayed between billy and his brother in the mini series, as not only do I think that's more realistic, but it shows just how guilty Billy feels about his brother's death.
“This guy couldn’t even lure awkward fan art to Tumblr” oh, you spoke too soon....
My favorite scene was at 6:00
NC: "No kid would be drawn to someone that scary looking."
2017: "Yeah, but they were drawn to him, and he's not even scary."
1990: "Exactly, you dumbass."
ShadowDude6488 because it’s so true. Timmy Curry’s “It” doesn’t look very scary unless he’s absolutely trying to be, but Bill Skarsgard’s “It” is always creepy looking even if he’s trying not to be!
True, but he seems far more inhuman than Tim Curry did, allowing for the effect of drawing in people with the desire to stare at him and figure out what he is, whereas Tim Curry was clearly just an ordinary looking clown hanging around in a sewer. Think about. If you saw the Tim version in a sewer you would probably think "fucking weirdo, how did he even get down there, so weird, I'm leaving" but with the new one his strange appearance and unearthly voice grabs your attention and makes you want to stop and talk to him, try to figure out if he is really just a crazy guy in the sewers or if he's actually something else.
Chexpet The problem with that is, you are rationalizing the situation like an adult, no kid would stop to think that.
Interesting idea. Georgie is clearly nervous when he first appears but is completey transfixed. You can see how cautious he is talking to him. Sure he looks eerie but he has a pleasnt enough voice and Georgie is six after all
No?
"This feels Self Defeating"
Well played Malcolm, well played
Personally I think that was best out of nowhere line. Genuinely genius
I love how distinguished he sounds.
what part was that?
This guy is buying likes right? He always has several unfunny comments at the top of every nostalgia critic video.
I literally laughed out loud for that :)
“This feels self defeating”
In 2019 that ending is kind of ironic, because now The Joker became The Clown of the Year. But don't worry, Pennywise, we still love you.
"This seems self-defeating"
He says as he kicks himself into the ground...
Well played
Lol yh
I have actually scared people in my local haunted house doing the silly Pennywise angry face dance. I'm not sure why it worked, but it was fun doing it. That is until I pulled a muscle.
I hope it was worth IT.
Heheh.
The inconsistency mentioned @ 12:56 really isn't one: what pennywise shows the Losers Club is ONLY for them. No one else CAN see, hear or experience them in any way UNLESS PENNYWISE WANTS THEM TO.
18:07 Spirit photography? HERMIT PURPLE!!!
Nostalgia critic arguing with the two ITs gives me life
And the redlettermedia crew and Mr. Plinkett should join.
Person Person
I agree
IT Crowd joke was on point
I love that show, the british version at least
19:18 from what I have heard him contorting his body out of the fridge wasn't a digital effect the actor can actually do that. Eaither that or my dad lied
Nope that is true
Who came back after the chapter 2?
*Raises hand*
I liked this movie, but Doug makes a good Pennywise.
For some reason the IT crowd guy using magic the gathering cards got me.
Most Likely Dead what? What are you referring to?
Oh there's one guy with MTG cards. I missed that.
Sorry, poor grammar. Edited it to make more sense. If you still don't get it, Malchom's character in poker game is a reference to a character from a show call IT crowd(general tech nerd stereotype)
Most Likely Dead yeah it makes sense after you edited it. It was weirdly phrased before.
British version or awful version?
I like how this is basically just an entire parody of batman the animated series almost got em
