- This is the 2nd video in Matriarch bass patch deep dive series.
In this video i try to replicate a worn out tape delay with the Matriarch's onboard (awesome) delay.

Love your WORN OUT TAPE DELAY simulation with all those little details that went into it!
This is the first video of the Matriarch that I see someone use the global settings so casually. That’s a musician truly knowing their instrument's ins and outs, next level
Thank you!
Can’t thank you enough for this patch demo!
Thanks for your videos
Well done, as always! :D
Thank you very much for all your video tutorials, much appreciated! Have learnt a lot with these vids.
Great to hear! thank you very much
seconded!
Great video, thank you very much!
Glad you liked it!
Excellent!
Many thanks!
Love this! Thanks
So glad!
Great sound and knowledge, your videos are very helpful to me, thanks for sharing. I’ll try and approximate on my Grandmother, even though it only has two oscillators :)
It’s heavily lowpassed so of course you can achieve this on just about any Moog or “Moog-like”
However that tape warble is pretty different. You could use the LFO to warble slightly, but I like using it as a 3rd OSC (usually lowest octave). So I find I use the Behringer Model D as cheap and simple modular compliment for things like that. So use the LFO or OSC to route slight pitch warble to each pitch input. Using the two in tandem is awesome.
that’s an excellent idea!
🔥🔥🔥
thanks Josh!

How did you get to this level of understanding with the Moog and all of its global settings? I’ve had mine for 8 months and have read the instruction manual but am having a hard time understanding certain concepts like CV and what you can actually patch into those ports to get sounds that work. Id love to be able to play something and then know exactly what to do next to achieve a certain sound. I have a solid understanding of mixing concepts and different plugins but it hasn’t translated much.
I’ve spent years with synths…so experience, willingness to explore and study/research. There’s a lot of great books out there about synthesis. If you understand the general concepts it’s not too hard to figure out how they’d work on the matriarch.
@@RobeMusic books like? give some name pls, i got the make: analog synths one
🤗👍🤗
Is this patch in your patch book ?
hello, no that patch is not in vol 1 of my patch book. All the patches posted before July 30 2023 are in there. but, I always post patch diagrams for each patch on my website. you can get the patch diagram for this one here: robemusic.com/synthwavetapedelaybass/
There's not much of a difference between the patch book diagrams and the web diagrams, so if you want that patch, just download it from the link above (and i think it's in the video description as well). The patch book is mainly for convenience...so you don't have to download 60+ individual patches...and a way for viewers to show their support for all the time that i've put into these posts.
I will be doing another volume of the patch book once i've posted more patches...but think I've only done about 10 or 12 Matriarch patches in the last year, so it might be a while yet.
Mine always sound darker than yours? Like the filter is slightly closed, it’s not though
hmm..maybe try more filter envelope modulation so attack is brighter…or lower delay mix (the delay is lovely..but can really add a lot of mud) could also be too long of a release in amp envelope…last resort raise the cutoff…matriarchs filter cutoff is a lot more sensitive than other moog synths. I don’t use any processing in videos (unless I mention it specifically in the video of course) so you should be able to get very close. each analog synth is slightly different…but still should be pretty close.
@@RobeMusic Thanks, yeah it’s just duller by default with everything off/default. Might do a factory restore
@@MusicZeroOne that might do it. I noticed with the latest firmware release that after resetting global settings the matriarch does not go to panel settings…(for instance after doing a global settings restore the voice mode is set to 4 regardless of position of switch) so I’ve been turning each knob after resetting globals…a bit of a pain…but that’s what I always have to do with my sub phatty. So maybe something is just “stuck” hope that fixes it. Let me know…I’m curious now.
