these videos on the matriarch are incredible. thank you.
Glad you like them!
Do you use FL studio? Great video .. extremely helpful
No I don’t use FL studio. Mainly Logic or Studio One….actually more and more with Studio one these days
Funny because I have both synths.
Man, the end result sounded really good. Great patch idea
It's my favourite patchbook for the matriarch. I hope Vol 2 happens one day.
Thank you. Yea I’ll put out volume 2 in the fall probably…will have enough new patches by then I think. Thanks again!
Wow. What a patch. ❤
Thank you! Had fun putting this one together.
Amazing patch dude!
Glad you like it!
Love this sound. What plugin are you using to view the waveforms at the top of the video?
thanks. most of the time (and in this video) i just use the oscilloscope plugin that is native to my DAW, studio one. but sometimes i use the scope in VCV rack...it's actually way better....especially for LFOs and slow moving CV...but its not as convenient as the plugins in the DAW.
41:20 radio noise into DFAM. Very cool idea ❤
thanks. yea, thats something i want to mess around with a lot more.
18:00 good to know the output from the patch bay (VCO EG, VCA, VCF all unipolar, positive)
These videos are awesome!
Glad you like them!
Matriarch is like the best first synth ever. 😂 You have brought our house joy brother. thank you.
Glad to have helped you out!
Thanks, your videos are so educational, Much appreciated! <3
Thank you!
Awesome, John - thanks for your inspiring work on this!
Thanks Martin. The next 2 patches (that i'll post over the next few weeks) that are extensions of this patch are really cool (and fun to put together) think you'll like them.
@@RobeMusic Now you really got me sitting on the edge of my chair - so much looking forward! And I def will have a look into your DFAM deep dive part 2 for some background…
Thanks for these matriarch focussed videos 🎉
18:50 if you want a brighter delay, the matriarch delay ‘brightness’ can be chosen in the settings. The manual has the specific key combination. 🙏🏼
Thanks yes. I should have mentioned I was already in bright mode. Good call. Thanks
Thanks for the heads up!
You are a synth wizard good sir
not a wizard...just a guy who spends his day in a robe playing with synthesizers. thank you
The best 👍
Thanks!
I love your videos man!
thank you!
You have a great way of explaining this synth, man. I've learned a ton from these videos. I've owned my Matriarch for about 3 yrs now and I'm always surprised by how deep it can be. Still a ton to learn, so keep 'em comin!
Same for me. Got sound studio 10/21 then matriarch then it got ugly.
Thanks. I'm really happy that these videos help people find new things to explore.
You've really taken the already amazing Matriarch to the next level!
Thanks. I think using oscillators as syncable lfo/clocks is my new favourite matriarch concept. Something I’ll definitely keep coming back to.
Is this patch in your patch book ?
hello, no that patch is not in vol 1 of my patch book. All the patches posted before July 30 2023 are in there. but, I always post patch diagrams for each patch on my website. you can get the patch diagram for this one here: robemusic.com/synthwavetapedelaybass/ There's not much of a difference between the patch book diagrams and the web diagrams, so if you want that patch, just download it from the link above (and i think it's in the video description as well). The patch book is mainly for convenience...so you don't have to download 60+ individual patches...and a way for viewers to show their support for all the time that i've put into these posts. I will be doing another volume of the patch book once i've posted more patches...but think I've only done about 10 or 12 Matriarch patches in the last year, so it might be a while yet.
So deep ... thank you so much!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Enjoying the noise; and the geekery.
Ha! There’s a lot of both in that video
Thank you sir. Just sat down in music room and saw this. DFAM was already going.
Thanks for listening
Thanks a ton for the very thorough demo. Had a Realistic Radio Shack reverb amp a long time ago which had a great silly rockabilly slap back vibe... but it grew legs and walked out of a shared rehearsal space : ( So wonderful to stumble on your video after seeing Sam Evian mention it here ... czcams.com/video/d8vvBlVXJUM/video.htmlsi=O1n8OwFoX5SPJqBY ... and this very cool mod circuit review here czcams.com/video/LaYSQjFpL1I/video.htmlsi=r3uxFXuzx7qY3XmG
Thanks! I’m going to check out both of those links. Appreciate it. I just love “crappy” spring verbs…some of them really sound special.
The Matriarch is an incredibly powerful analog synth for sound design. Please have a look and listen: czcams.com/video/Bkrx_958zT8/video.htmlsi=rR2FRlrKd7IUqF_Y

Great! Hope you enjoy your matriarch

great video , where did you get those 3 way 1/8 connectors

@@RobeMusic thank you. Much appreciated
Thank you
This is awesome. :) thanks for all the effort.
The osc overdrive gives really nice warmth to matriarch`s tone
Great video! Please continue the series. I’ll add that the Mutable Instruments Marbles (& copies) is a great “composer” of generative music of many genres. Add a Befaco VCMC and control MIDI/DAW instruments.
Thanks very much. I won't be continuing or do any more generative videos for a while....but agree Marbles is a great module and pairs well with the Matriarch. I did start a video a while back about DAW control...perhaps I'll finish that one off. I don't have a Befaco VCMC but use Expert Sleepers FH-2 and sometimes for more complicated patches ES-6. I'll check out the Befaco.
Another great Matriarch video! Just want to add that if you want to duplicate the mixer for stereo, get a Manhattan Analog DTM, they sound and drive exactly the same on an oscilloscope. Classic CP3 mixer.
Wow, great video. Best explanation and demo of paraphony I've ever seen.
Thanks very much!
Ah, the “Pathétique” Sonata! Bravo sir, and thanks for another great and educational video 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you, appreciate it.
New love and knowledge for my SubH. Thank you for all your time and efforts. Everyone who has a SubH should be watching these videos !
Thanks. I learned a lot about the Subharmonicon putting those videos together. Glad you found it helpful!
Great stuff. Except now I have to purchase a M32B!
Mmmm... I like this. I have had an Oberheim Xpander for over 30 years...But you can't just grab a knob like that.
Pretty pretty good… Curb reference? 😂
Yea. I’ll miss that show
I'm going to try this
Cool. Let me know if you have any issues.
Great videos on the Matriarch. I hope to get one soon. My question is about polyphony. I know the Matriarch only does Duophony. I am just now moving away from the computer and trying to build a setup with semi-modular and perhaps modular. But the one think I'm missing is the ability to play chords. And I don't want to play those fake chords where you have to program the note intervals ahead of time. I see that the Coral and do real polyphone and that the Nifty keyboard has some trickery that enables it to have polyphony if you have 4 oscillators. Are these the only 2 options? If Nifty can build it into their keyboard, shouldn't there be a way that we can do that as well? Interested to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks!
Matriarch has 3 voice modes. Paraphonic, duophonic and unison. (It is possible with some patching to make it a 2 voice paraphonic synth with 2 osc per voice) difference between paraphonic and polyphonic is paraphonic voices all share the same filter, envelope generators and vca….so if you play block chords (4 notes at same time) you’ll get what you want..if you try do to a broken chord/arpeggio with sustained notes…the vca, filter and envelopes will either trigger or not trigger with each new note depending on if you have multi trigger on/off. This is a question I have been asked a lot: I’m actually working on a few short videos for people new to these concepts which will be posted in the next few weeks. Short answer…it may work for what you want…but sounds like you want a keyboard or polysynth. The matriarch is awesome but not a polysynth.
Thanks for that detailed response! I would really like to build a 4 voice poly in euro rack. I’ve looked at some poly synths like the Roland SH-04. But no they all have too much menu diving. Right now I’m using my Oddity plugin running it in stand alone mode but that still ties me to the computer which I’m also trying to avoid. Then I saw that NiftyKeys has up to 4 voice polyphony built in so I figured true polyphony in eororack must be possible. 😎
I think videos on this topic would be great!
15:26 We are up for Oscillators rights! That's hilarious.
That intro was so cool! Thanks for putting out such great videos.
Thanks! it's been a while since i listened to this one. I'll have to revisit it.
Beautiful. Always looking for more moog videos. Got the sound studio here and recently got back into it.
This is awesome man. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
Oj, what a good video and playing. Boah, the Moog SUB37 (please, this is no Minimoog) sounds clearly better with simple lead sounds. I have both, my SUB37 is at the moment in storage, because only a mono and too short and bad keyboard. Should I take it out of storage? The stepping on the filter on the REV2 is such a bad design choice of Sequential/Dave Smith
I've been talking about you on Instagram as well, because of your Touch OSC matriarch template
Haha. I'm a proud owner of 2 DFAMs, and I just used them this past couple days...
