I don't know how you don't have hundreds of thousands of subscribers. You're very detailed and you do the job right, keep it interesting, and reply to all the comments! Quality content and your channel should be up there with CarPassionChannel. Keep up the good work and good luck on growing this great channel 😄
Also damn those seats look nice. What are they?
Thanks for the big compliment man, I really appreciate that! Yeah hopefully some day I will hit the CarPassionChannel subscriber numbers, that would be awesome! Ow and the seats are just the stock NA ones but with new leather covers!
Miata MX-5
I really like how meticulous you're with every aspect of the install!
Thanks man!
Just used this video to assist. I would have been lost without it. Simple, concise and accurate. Many thanks for Australia!
No problem Michael, nice to hear my video was helpful!
@@MiataMods it was awesome Mate. I have not had the time In the last 20 years to work on my own cars so lacking a little confidence. You got me over the line…..
2024 and this was the best video... subbed
Thanks man, this video was a lot of work but it helped a lot of people!
Great detailed video! I love how you save us from making the same mistakes! Thank you!
I make the mistakes so you don't have to haha
I've been watching your videos for while now. I love how descriptive you are. Makes everything so much easier to understand. To also have a go If we are attempting these particular mods ourselves!
That's exactly what I'm trying to do! ☺️ When I started working on the car there were already a lot of how-to video's available but a lot of the video's were missing some vital information so I want to give as much info as possible in my vids so that others can do the mod as well!
it's cool that you own up to the mistake to help the audience with their installs. that alone makes this video worth watching for anyone interesting in doing this job
Thanks man! I just want to help out the Miata community you know? I hope that people can learn from my mistakes 👌
One of the best videos of all the mx-5 ones! I totally like youre video editing and how you do what you do! Go on with it :)
Thanks Markus, that's really nice of you!
Loving the videos man, keep up the solid work!
Thanks man, I will!
Bro this is a perfect video! You explain every aspect even the reverse build in. I like the troll faces. And the review omg you are a very good miata man😂
Thanks!
Great video. This helped me install the same frame rails and avoid the mistakes as well!
Good to hear that my video was helpful Mark!
This is the most complete tutorial ever seen, you earned a sub!
Thanks man, that means a lot to me! More how-to video's coming soon 👌
Another great video! Love the way you are doing this! ... and I'm praying every time at the end that it fixes your shaking problem! Thank you for all your videos, and thank you to do that in English :) See you on the next one!
Thanks man! I got my wheels balanced and I got an alignment and that didn’t fix it either.. the next step is replacing the wheel hubs as they might be bent.. we will see!
Got mine delivered today because of this video!hopefully will install in the next two weeks I have a mountain of other stuff to finish off but your video has made this task so much easier!cheers Miata Mods keep em coming!!
That’s great to hear man, good luck with the project!
MiataMods it looks great!
You do the best job making sure your subject is well lit. The viewer can actually see what you are doing. I have seen too many miatas with dented chassis rails. Too many speed bumps, and people jacking the car here who don't know any better. Great job!
Thank you! Yes it takes a lot of effort getting the lighting right, the camera angle right etc etc.. that is one of the reasons why I don't make a lot of video's per month.. I just takes up a lot of time.. but I can't upload something if I'm not proud of it!
Love the puck usage. Nicely done.
Thanks Dave!
Awesome Video! You did a pretty good job at explaining every little step and of course the Memes :)
And now i know what will come in the near future for my mx-5.
Cool man, glad my video was helpful!
That hockey puck was just so handy!! Nice video man! I'll be installing Butterfly chassis brace rails soon.
Thanks! Good luck with the install!
Really great video once again. Your car is coming along nicely, it's so clean!! 👊
Thank you!
I gave this a like for your penguin ice tray.
I can't help myself, I just like penguins 🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧
Just finished installing mine! Thanks for the video. This is the first mod I've done to my mint NA 1.8~
No problem man, nice job!
Hi, is there a vendor in the US? Thanks!
@@diverhose Jass is shipping at reasonable cost to USA tbh.
shake at 65mph? check tires for slight bumps. check inner and outer tie rods. check rear CV axle for wear. check tire weights or have them balanced. that's all I got for now
Thank you for the tips! I will do that!
Thanks for the video mate, I used it as a guide to install those same Jass frame rails. Cheers
No problem mate, glad my video was helpful! 💪
Ill probably never install one of those
Im just watching because of the effort and perfectionism put into those videos, soo easy to follow, edit is like 10/10 well everything is, thank you so much!
Well thanks man, that means a lot to me!
Awesome video bro! This helped so much! I really can feel a difference.
No problem man, glad I could help!
Well my time to buy these has came. Installed my tecna coilovers and guess what, i’m scraping 🙁 Looks easy enough to do and Jass is almost half the price of FM so i’m happy to hear these are solid. Time to get to it!
Good luck with the project!
Very detailed well explained guide!! Awesome!
Thank you sir :)
My door sills are from Jass, so I'm familiar with their quality. This mod has been on my to do list for a while, but I've been trying to figure out which ones I want. Thanks for showing the differences. I still don't want to rule out the FM rails yet. They have the additional butterfly brace available for those. Ahhh decisions decisions....
Yeah the butterfly brace really helps stiffen up the chassis but because the brace has to clear the exhaust you will have a lot less ground clearance.. we got a lot of big bumps here in my country and I also want to lower the car a bit so a butterfly brace was out of the question 😛
good video! have been thinking about JP frame rails for a while.
Yesterday you said tomorrow.. JUST.. DO IT 😉
Nice job Neil love the detail, I have a 1999 Mx 5 conv & for the mostpart do my own repairs / replacements as for the Slave master. I had a shop replce that & it kept failing 7 times till I & the repair shop & there parts suplier were at whits end why they kept failing. Till i told the shop only go w OE slave so anyone else haveing the same isue go w Oe. Its hard to find & cost lil more but worth it. My repair shop warranty them everytime just a headake not knowing when it was going to fail. & after my car passes the 10 yr old age AAA is a life saver. I bought my miata as a 2 nd vehicle cause. I live in Ftl its the perfect beach car & keep getting offers from many people everywhere. I go. I love how it hugs the roundabouts like its on rails. Keep doing videos neil. Im going to do the cold air intake like u did thats for ur ideas. It gets pretty hot here in SFLA. too. I just get hot with it lol. My top is open every chance. I get
Thanks for sharing your story Russell, but who is Neil? 😬
HOWdy M-M,
Thanks for the TIPS & Instruction - I too have a 1993 "NA" MIATA
& have owned a set of Stainless Steel Frame Rail covers for over a year ( from MOSS-MIATA )
but have procrastinated on INSTALLATION - your VIDEO will make the PROCESS
a lot
No worries Coop! How did the install go of your frame rails? Was it a successful installation?
Great video! I need to install my frame rails asap
Gonna be using this vid when I get frame rails for my car.
Also, with the 65mpm shimmy, a decent roll bar should help a lot as it stiffens the car a fair amount.
This channel is the best because of the Memes
Hahaha thanks man, glad you like it 😏
Cheers, really enjoying the detail in your videos, been thinking about adding these to my Eunos but I am in the UK and worry about them trapping moisture, struggle with corrosion here as it is!
If you follow all my steps you will have no problems with that! As a additional step you could add some silicone under the big washer and bolt on top so there is a watertight seal on both sides. In combination with the stainless steel frame rails and mounting hardware from Jass Performance you will have no problems! I think it's even better because now when you hit your chassis rails on something it will take the paint right off and start rusting.. and you are from the UK, you should totally represent Jass Performance dude 😌
It's sounds really silly but when I was looking to buy my first Miata, a few cars I drove had that 60-70mph-ish shimmy that you are talking about and after speaking to a local Miata specific shop I was told that it came down to a few possible causes. 1. Most common was over inflated front tires, if you are running stock wheel and tire sizes they don't seem to like anything above 26-28psi 2. Worn tie rod ends and/or ball joints. Just inspect those components as you normally would and look for sloppiness, replace if needed. 3. Also a possibility of worn control arm bushings, inspect and replace if defective (Good excuse to upgrade to quality poly bushings.) Lastly and most dreadful 4.wheel bearing. Again, inspect properly and replace if necessary
Hope this helps.
Thank you so much for the tips! The car will first get an alignment to see if that will help. The wheels will also be rebalanced.. if that doesn't help, I will certainly check out the things you mentioned! 👍
Yep. Mine does exactly the same. Starts at around 100km/h and then stops shaking at 110. Will check those points. Thanks!
thank you for making this Video! my Ultra Racing frame rail was destroyed by a rock and I'm looking for a framerail replacement to protect the chassis, looked at Flyin Miata one but quite concered the fuel lines being moved towards the ground. this looks like a better design overall. I need to look more closely at Jass Performance then!
Yeah you do! The Jass Performance frame rails are a really good product!
Yes another miatamods video :)
At your service! 😇
great video, very helpful and detailed without wasting any time.... I'm going to look and see if you have a video on your removable steering wheel?!
Yes I have a video on that as well!
Not having carpet makes for a much faster install!! It still makes me sad a prior owner ruined all the lovely tan carpet :(
I had the same 65 mph shake. It was mostly cured by doing a proper PPF alignment.
Awesome video sir
Thank you kind sir 😌
Try the Green Frog Bars for the 65 MPH shake. They fit under the front fenders and the door, They work very well
Thanks for the tip! Did you have the 65 MPH shake and did the frog bars help?
Mooie video en goede uitleg! Ik had zelf persoonlijk ook wat kit onder de grote ringen gedaan om zeker te weten dat je een waterdichte verbinding zou krijgen.
Haha goeie CZcams naam! Goed punt trouwens, dat was nog beter geweest!
Nice tutorial :D I have plan to install those frame rails on my miata. And I like your accent in english. Like lucascarmod :D Duchtman speaking english. It's really better than us, belgian french speaker :D or French :p
Thanks!
Great video, I just subscribed. How is that miata so clean, it’s like you called up Mazda and found out they forgot to sell one so you picked it up!
Haha thanks for the compliment! I paid a bit more then what you usually pay for a Miata/MX5 but because of that I got one that was pretty well preserved. I try my best to keep it in good shape so I guess that's why it looks like new.
1- My last experience with a speed related shimmy (1970 Barracuda) was a bent rim.
2- My concern with this would be: have you now created a moisture trap between the new SS rail and the old Chasis (non-SS) any crack or break in the coating could lead to rust?
I don't think that is the case but I do understand what you mean.. I only will know for sure when I would to remove the frame rails.. I think it will be fine tho. The frame rails have a few holes in the bottom so moisture can get out.. I hope :-)
weer fantastisch
The shake could be wheel hubs, front is if the steering wheel vibrates past a certain speed, rears if it doesnt. I would check the hubs by jacking the car and shaking each wheel to see if it knocks or wiggles while the wheel is being held in place.
Hey Joe, thanks for your comment! I've checked the wheel hubs/bearings for any play or noise but there seem to be no issues.. but I'm thinking of replacing the front wheel hubs anyway because it could still be the problem.. we will see
How do you make sure that your axle stands don't crush the pinch weld? Do you have some kind of rubber protector?
Best regards from Switzerland, Rob (2009 NC Facelift 2.0l Sport in True Red).
Yes, I’ve got some rubber covers
Weer een interessante video, ga zo door! Wat is je volgende project? :)
Een paar kleine dingetjes maar de eerst volgende grote mod wordt een DIY Cold Air Intake! Bedankt voor het kijken!
MiataMods you talk about a shimmy in your car at speed. do you have aftermarket or oem wheels? if they are aftermarket you need to check into hubcentric rings to make the wheels fit the hubs better and not rely on the studs for support. you can get them from amaxon.
2 years late, oh well. My 1993 had terrible shimmying too, fixed it by replacing the upper and lower ball joints.
Thanks for sharing!
any idea if the jass performance frame rails support the mid section butterfly style brace like the the ones from FM?
Haha nice profile picture! Jass Performance does not support or supplies a butterfly brace but maybe you can drill the necessary holes and use a butterfly brace from a different brand? I personally did not want to use a butterfly brace because of the ground clearance.. the brace sits closer to the ground in comparison to the frame-rails because the brace needs to clear the exhaust.. that's something to take into consideration
Hey! Nice video. Does it improve really something on the road ?
This is not a commercial, it’s my honest opinion. Yeah it does really help!
Nice Video ! Could you indicate me where your door sills come from ?
I got them second hand but they are aftermarket, not Mazda OEM.. honestly I would go for OEM ones, they look a lot better
MiataMods, what seats are you using in this video? Are they OEM or another brand? I really like the look, very fresh and oem looking.
Thanks! They are the OEM seats with full new leather upholstery
@miatamods im telling you man, check the steering rack bushings
Thanks big boiii 😌
Sooo... Whats the additional side wall used for? It looks like it has bolt holes or are they just weight reduction holes?
It makes the structure stronger without adding a lot of weight so it provides even more stiffness!
@@MiataMods but did it actually work?
these are great for guys that just aren't stiff enough.
Exactly 😆😝😂
MiataMods sorry for this being posted to an old video, but are those new seats, or seat covers? They look good!
New covers and I think these are the ones I have:
www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00HZ7CA4K
Note that you need to take the seat apart to install these. They’re not pull-over covers
Can you make a video on how to bleed the slave cylinder?
Good idea! I have some other projects going on right now but I will eventually cover that topic. Thanks for watching!
Just watched this video without sound and at 1.75 speed as i'm supposed to be revising and I know exactly what i need to do - just goes to show how high quality this video is. This'll be the first mod i do once i take delivery of my lowered 5 from Scotland. You might have mentioned it in the video but is hammerite pretty good for rubbing down any rusty parts underneath and sealing them to prevent further rust?
Thanks for the compliment :-) Yeah it's pretty good but there are some other products that are specifically designed to treat and prevent rust. I've used Hammerite mainly because it's easy (no primer or clear coat needed).
What seat covers/ seats are those!?
I've just bought a Miata and I love it! Mines a red 2007 NC with an electric hardtop. I have no experience in car maintenance or mechanics (or tools) but I want to learn over time and get better, your videos will certainly be useful. I love your style, very organised and doing things properly (are you sure you're not German?!). Today I fixed my boot opening mechanism by buying a secondhand relay on eBay for £5.99 and fitting it. Now my boot button under the steering wheel and key fob can 'pop the trunk', a small thing but very satisfying. Next to paint my wiper arms (I watched your video) and then to tackle the rust underneath...I'm just about to search for a video on this - I hope you have one! Thanks! :)
Welcome to the family Robert!
what made you decide to get these rather than the lightweight version?
Lightweight version is only a few pounds lighter and the 'normal' version gives you more rigidity which the car really needs so I went for the stronger version
thx👌
Thanks for watching 👍
goede video, duidelijke uitleg. enkel in UK te bestellen ?
Ja, maar de verzendkosten vallen mee en je hebt geen import en btw kosten
Did you fix the 65mph shake?
I eventually did, but I took a new set of rims to get rid of it. I switched wheels with a friend of mine who had the same setup (15x8 et25) and after that I had no more fibrations.. all this time it was just my stupid ass rims who were causing the problem. I eventually switched tires but kept the same rims and it made somewhat of a difference but I know for sure my rims are the problems but I just don't want to buy a new set of rims... maybe later, but not now haha
Are those skidnation framerails? if so, their design has improved a lot.
You mean the other frame rails? Those frame rails are from LowMotion, a Dutch company
Yes, the other frame rails. They looked similar to skidnation rails apart from the quality. Anyway, I'll be fitting mine soon and installation between brands is more or less the same so thanks for the tips.
No problem, glad my video was helpful!
is it work if we just welding on ?
I guess but why would you want to do that? Seems like a lot more work
I’m curious how does it look underneath and under the carpet after some time. Any rust appearing in places you drilled to fit frame rails?
Haven't seen any rust yet. It helps a lot that I covered the holes in a thick amount of paint, top and bottom.
Regarding the bags of fittings (0.49) I guarantee that the bag to the right are plated steel, definitely not stainless.....trust me.
Yeah, i just have this sweet after market sreering wheel I'll just pop off...
You can have that as well if you want ;-) I even have a how-to video on that topic!
Fender Braces will fix the 65mph shaking. but im sure you've figured that out by now. Amazing video!
I have not lol.. I think I've pinpointed the problem tho; did a wheel swap with a friend of mine who has the same type of wheels (15 inch rims with 195/50 tires) and after I swapped it I had zero shaking issues.. it has to be my wheels or tires.
"she who must be obeyed" is not going to be happy with that fork.
Hahaha "she who must be obeyed", good one and so true!
This seems like the biggest pain in the ass and I will eventually have to do it mine haha! Not looking forward to it.
I get what you mean but it’s really worth the effort!
Drive shaft or tires need balanced
Wheels have been balanced a couple of times but I think my rims are the problem. Switched wheel setup with a friend of mine and the shaking was gone..
Great vid man detailed everything even Product review very important check out the carpassion channel to get more ideas for content keep up the good work🤙🏾
Thanks man! I've already watched every video of TheCarPassionChannel haha.. Greg is like the new Miata King! 👑
Yeah that polished finished that u cant see because its under the car is great until u go to check the underside and blind urself with ur torch
It gets dull over time so don’t worry, that problem will fix itself 😆
I like the carpet trick lol
Zipties brah 😏
Get a hardtop and the shake will basically not be there or fender braces and rollbar.
I have a hardtop and with the hardtop the car vibrates a lot less but it's summertime right now and I want to ride with the top down ☺️ I have a couple of things I want to try first but fender braces and a rollbar are definitely things I want to add to the car at some point. Thanks for your help! 👍
Ice cube tray? I use a muffin tin! Much larger to hold the screws! But its one of my favorite tricks, you can put your bolts into each compartment in order of removal, then as you assemble, go in reverse order and you know which bolts go where
That’s an even better idea! Thanks for the tip
Krautastic best tip i heard all day. I use a metal soup can. Reinstallation is always memory test
the meme pics are kinda unnecessary and can get a bit cringy sometimes but the pointing arrows and red circles are a nice addition
Thanks for the feedback. I know that not everybody likes the meme pics but that's just my editing style and I like them :) Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed the video!
I did enjoy, and i'll probably come back to watch some more cause i'm planning to buy a NA Miata soon and these are quite helpful and fun to watch. Keep up the good work!
Haha thanks, that's good to hear!
The = D 🤣
YEEAAH BOII
Reply to your reply "thanks man" if you actually look my name is Belinda a women and i try to fix my Eunos myself through great clips about these cars!!!!..........
haha dat nederlands haha
Was het zo duidelijk? 🤪
@@MiataMods ja!🤣
Do you play hockey? Trolololololo
