I love this movie..I saw it in the theater when it was first made, I bought the VHS when it came out, and then i bought the DVD when that became available...It's a great movie, and this is sorta the big finale song, I Sing The Body Electric..Great Stuff!

I am incapable of watching this without weeping. I am sixty years old now and I was the ages of these kids when this came out. I am instantly transported back to the hopes and joys of my youth when seeing this. Time goes by in a blink. Celebrate your lives💕
Ditto.
I was 5 when this movie came out. I'm now 47
My Class (Carson High School '81) did this Song. We had a Fun Time doing it.
Our lead singer went on to Broadway. "Marc Oka"
So true. I'm 61
I am about to turn 64 and this is a phenomenal work of art. It gets me every time. And seeing Gene Anthony Ray's entrance on the dance part warms my heart. RIP.
I still get goosebumps when I see this performance.
THIS MOVIE CHANGED MY LIFE
One of, if not the, best musical endings ever written and performed in any movie!!!
Howard Rubin It was my favorite until Purple Rain, but it’s #2 after all these years.
I love this but I think the musical ending to Mr. Holland’s Opus may be as good, if not better.
I love this scene, the two "non-stars" that sang are schoolmates of mine - Class of '80 (the high school the movie is based on) the orchestra players and the chorus? Many were classmates who were members of the gospel choir. Great times❤️
Yes. A very nice ending.
I agree I love it
I remember feeling so happy for Lisa in this glorious finale. She found her real talent. It was a surprise to see her on stage singing.
Gennady Filimonov, the last student seen in close-up in this finale (the handsome young violinist) was with the Seattle Symphony last I heard and co-founder of a string quartet. He has also become an expert on antique string instrument and their makers. Filimonov was featured on one of the original posters for "Fame".
i loved this movie when I was 14 I remember watching it about 15 times in the theater
One of those movies, that if you're lucky, entertains you, but moreover, contributes just a little something to who you become. This for me was one such movie 33 years ago.
This made me dance in a puddle after watching it in the theater ..x .the best movie ever ...the soundtrack is unbelievable!!! So amazing the talent in that Movie nothing replaces it since then..
I found this after the Grammys did this song today. My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE PART OF THE MOVIE FAME! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
deede58 Best part of the show!!
With Lee back on keyboards again!
Went to see this every weekend for 2 months in June of 1980....
I love it! It takes me back to a bitter sweet time in my life. The music and performances were great! RIP Irene! You left us to soon!
Wow! Took a notion to look this song up. Glad I did. Chills all over again!!
Thank you for posting this. I saw it in 1980 when it first came out. I had just had cancer surgery and this movie raised my spirits tremendously. The talent and the promise of all the performers was wonderful and gave me hope for my future.
Awwww that's cool
I hope you’re ok now
The hairs on the back of my neck stand up at the 3:45 mark... when the choir switches from "traditional" to gospel-style...and remain standing through the grand finale!
Goosebumps every time.. Still after all these years
For me, the single most powerful moment in film is the moment we realize that "Lisa", who was on the brink of suicide has discovered her voice and has a life to live.
"I sing the body electric" is one of the tracks on the 1980 Motion picture soundtrack album "Fame". The vocals were sung by Laura Dean, Irene Cara, Paul McCrane, Traci Parnell and Eric Brockington. "Fame" was released in the United States on May 16, 1980 by RSO Records. Thi is the first time I have heard this song.
If you haven't already, you MUST watch the entire movie because this song is the perfect culmination of all of the trials, struggles, angst, and perseverance of everyone in the movie. And it is a masterpiece of musicianship, visuals, and dance. It is phenomenal!!
One Word. Brilliant..! Wish some network would produce a modern reboot of this series. Hell everybody loves ........'s got talent. no brainer.
i saw the movie in 1980 and i loved it then and i love it now brilliant music as allways love it love it love it
I still remember how awesome this movie sounded when it played in Dolby Stereo at the Neptune theater in Seattle, WA!
I’m speechless! This is a masterpiece!
My absolute 💯 favorite Fame. Thus song makes me cry 😂good tears.. love it
We should all have a father as supportive as Angelo Martelli.
This hits harder now that Irene is gone. It's so haunting to see her younger self, singing about her hopes and joys for the future alongside a group of other young people who are now all grandparent age in their 50's and 60's by now.
It reminds me that time moves fast, and that we should make every minute of it. Don't weep and feel sad, feel happy for your future.
I remember singing this song at a middle school concert when I was like 12 or so. I didn't know that it was from a movie up until a few years ago. So this gives me nostalgia for my middle school years.
Yeah, I just found out about Irene's passing. This video and movie brings back many memories. It's unfortunate that she got bogged down in a bad recording contract and a lawsuit that ended up nowhere. Given her huge talent and notoriety after this movie and Flashdance, she really had what it takes to go on to a long career. It's too bad that her last years were spent mostly as a recluse. RIP Ms.Cara.
@@brentwalker3300 heartbreaking.Irene would integrate with her fans on her Facebook twitter.CZcams.🙏
Don't forget Gene Anthony Ray who sadly died of AIDS. They were the Darlings of The Movie Scene and not one of them could say they found "Fame" even in The US TV Series. Lesley Gore (It's My Party) and her Brother Michael worked on The TV Version.
ONE OF THE GREATEST MOVIES PROFESSIONALLY PRESENTING THE ARTS EVER Starring my former high School before renovations! (Shedding Tears) Smh lol
THANK U SO MUCH FOR POSTING!
Wait! Were you in Performing Arts? I'm from Music and Art! ❤️
Amazing and timeless!
Such a gospel vibe. Amazing 🤩
The Drummer... holy crap... get's me all the time again.
I said it on one of the Evita clips, and I'll say it here: Alan Parker is BRILLIANT!
Right there with you @Suze P. I was 17, and loved it! I ran out and bought the album. When they covered it on the Grammys tonight, I pulled that old album out and played it. Fortunately, I recorded the album to a Maxell tape way back when, and the vinyl album is perfect. Both the physical media, and the music it contains!
I was 10 or so when I saw this it impacted me and I would often sing this song to myself. Brilliant!
HEAR HEAR! and my I add The Commitments is one of the greatest modern musicals of them all!
Seems like only yesterday. Amazing.
The best part is the first girl singing....remember she had such doubt in her talent...she was the one who tried to kill herself by walking in front of the subway???
R.I.P Irene Cara🕊Body Electric in the year 2022🩰🩰🩰🩰🩰🩰🩰🩰

i lovethe first film and thr thr-e first 3 years of the tv series
I sing the body electric
I celebrate the me yet come
I toast to my own reunion
When I become one with the sun
And I'll look back on Venus
I'll look back on Mars
And I'll burn with the fire
Of ten million stars
And in time and in time
We will all be stars
I sing the body electric
I glory in the glow of rebirth
Creating my own tomorrow
When I shall embody the Earth
And I'll serenade Venus
I'll serenade Mars
And I'll burn with the fire
Of ten million stars
And in time and in time
We will all be stars
Yeah (ooh)
Ooh, yeah
Yeah, yeah
We are the emperors now
And we are Czars
And in time and in time
We will all be stars
I sing the body electric
I celebrate the me yet come
I toast to my own reunion
(My own reunion)
When I become one with the sun
And I'll look back on Venus (back on Venus)
I'll look back on Mars (back on Mars)
And I'll burn with the fire (burn with the fire)
Of ten million stars
And in time and in time (and in time)
And in time and in time (and in time)
And in time and in time (and in time)
We will all be stars
Sublime, bravi!
I love this, July 2021
Fora de série esta série. Já não há criatividade como nos anos 80's. Tanto futurismo que se vão perdendo as coisas belas da vida! Que pena.
Good ending

Great ending to a so-so movie
THIS SONG SI FOCKED UP AND ITS ABOUT BURNING TO DEATH AND BEING HAPPY ABOUT.THE CELEBRATION OF BURNING TO IS DOFCKED UP AND THE FACT THAT MY SONG THIS IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IS EVEN MORE FOCKED UP.
Bladed Sinicle I hope you are being sarcastic, or else you are just stupid.
It's called metaphor
You totally misunderstood the metaphor. It's not talking about being set on fire. It's comparing stars in the sky to what each student hopes to become. The biggest stars in the sky are huge and seen by everybody. They shine brighter and with more intensity than the rest. They are the ones who make it. Look up what a metaphor is
Irene Cara totaly ruins this !!!
how did coco get away from the pervey photographer?? "now put your thumb in your mouth, like a little girl, COCO!" hahaha.
