With the great power of hype and modern technology, comes the great responsibility of pleasing fans world-wide. For my Marvel Spider-Man review we will take a look at all the elements that bring this story together and see if this iteration is Spiderman is more Marvel's Spiderman or The Amazing Spiderman.

The first thing to mention is that the movement is great. There are fast travel points but I never find myself using them. Swinging around the city to get to it (even if its half way across the entire map) is so much fun and packed with little details. You get sounds from all over the city that brings it to life. Shouts for help, phone calls about your life as Peter Parker, and best of all is the subtle differences in voice acting. When you're standing still Peter talks normal, but when swinging or fighting his line delivery is strained. There's so much to unpack here from the environment, combat, talent tree, and the characters that you'll just have to find out by watching my Spider Man review!

The only game I’ve ever 100% & Platinumed, just could not get enough of the game, wanted to squeeze every penny out of it. Currently trying to 100% the dlcs. Everyone who owns a PS4 needs to play this masterpiece.

Today, I got every single suit, mod, gadget upgrade and trophy. Including the trophy’s from the DLC, New Game + and Remastered trophies.

Well, it was the best selling. Last I heard, Spidey was the fastest selling PS4 game in the UK, which speaks well of it's sales elsewhere. Both games are awesome and great additions to the console. And honestly, you could argue that Spiderman benefitted from GoW's sales which is what potentially allows it to outsell the previous best selling game. At the end of the day, Sony has two potential GotY contenders just between the two of them. Sony is in a great position.

i love how spidey's webs don't just hook onto the sky when there really isn't anything to swing from. really annoys me in the moment when i'm trying to chase something down and i lose all my momentum, but truly i love that insomniac added that. makes everything feel more realistic.

as someone new to the franchise should 0 be played first since prequel or like between some other title for story reveal reasons?
Great to see the series continue, been here since Episode 13.
The pacing of this episode was really bad, still not as bad as episode 8 though.
Zezlemet I am fairly new to the Yakuza series as well. I played Kiwami first, and I think it really helped me get into zero. Zero is awesome on it's own, but I don't know if I would have gotten as into it if I didn't already know the main characters.
Zezlemet You can most definitely jump in at any point in the series. Y6 is a really good example of reinvigorating the series’s fanbase. But the way I see it, since they are remastering all of the games in order, I would start with 0, then 1 kiwami, and then 2 kiwami (which just came out). The yakuza series has a pretty committed fanbase, so I’ll bet that all the other sequels will be remastered at some point too.
I wasn't expecting to like this game as much as I did and I'm so happy that there are well-made single player games still being made.
Hell yeah. I personally have never turned to a game for multiplayer or online competition . Personally I go to games to play at my own pace and get lost in a good story with fun gameplay

No. Arkham games and this game are glorified one button attack mashers. Spider man 3 actually had combos with different attack buttons plus webbing.

The thing about the Batman games is that they weren't the first game to have that counter system. While the Arkham games refined the system, it was Spider-Man 2 that introduced it
Phoenix Warrior so comparing spidey to bats is basically comparing to spidey
Mr Azza Spider-Man 2 used a dodge system rather than a counter system, though. Arkham introduced the counter system as well as free flow combos where the controls were simplified from the “memorize 50 different combos, only 3 of which you’ll regularly use” problem of older games to focusing more on maintaining combos and keep track of enemies and what you could do.
I love the way they spread stuff out over the entire game. It really helps keep the map clean and allows you to 100% things with less risk of burnout. It’s the main reason so many people have 100%’ted the game imo. Well, being Spider-Man af helps.
This is the first game I ever 100 percented and I enjoyed every hour of it

I love how the first time when i put the punk suit on, some hours afther using it, Jameson started talking on the radio about this new Spiderman-punk, it was so funny, like he thought it was a imposter, not the real spiderman and so on, i wonder if he wil comment on any suit that you use, proberly not but it would be cool.
this game is sooo detailed i love it!!! there is also a detail in this game where jews will not appear in places in Saturday because of sabbath.

I know I'm a year late here, but your vids inspired me, and maybe half a year ago, before I knew this vid existed, I got the platinum trophy for this game, with two playthroughs. Thanks for the inspiration you gave me, man.

Look, I'm just pointing out that he's not a recent character. It's not an attack against Jirard, as it's an easy mistake to make, and even then, 10 years is stretching the term "New".

Spiderverse teaches us that in some universe, you're Spider-Man.
This game is a solid 9.5/10. The only thing missing, IMO, would be a system where the supervillains could escape The Raft and attack you randomly or cause problems in the city. You'd have a timer to get to them before they escape. If you get there, you battle. If you don't get there in time, or they beat you they disappear and reappear later. Maybe even crime waves, etc. Loved 100%ing the game. Highly recommend picking it up.
Your idea sounds pretty cool, not sure how they'd make electro work, but I'd love to fight vulture amidst the tallest sky scrapers instead of at a dock yard.
I hate that kind of stuff in games, stresses me out too much.

You know those people who say the fighting of this game is just a ripoff to the Arkham games are stupid because in those games the fighting is suppose he heavy and supposed to feel like a rock is punching those goons. But in Spider-Man the fighting is supposed to feel fast and energetic.

You never see anyone compare the fighting mechanics of spider man ps4 to spider man 2 on the ps2 where the combat seems to really have taken some inspiration from tbh.
tbh arkhams fighting mechanic was pretty much made for spiderman anyways since he has the spider sence thing, and better yet it improves upon it by not having the easy win counter button and instead have you dodge and chain that into your own counters

Spider-Man 2 did the ‘Arkham’ gameplay before Batman did it.
Imho Spiderman did took some elements from arkham but it is not a clone. Batman has cape stunt but spiderman doesn’t also batman has counter while spiderman has web strike.

It took until my 4th playthrough to notice the calm voice vs. distressed voice based on what you're doing while talking. This game has depth and I love it.
I just finished the main campaign today, and goddamn, the story (especially the ending) are some of the best Spiderman moments I have ever seen. This game is the best Spiderman story, easily.

Just to re-iterate. I got every single trophy for this game. I love every Spider-Man game I own.
I played this game during the pandemic and it was crazy how life imitated art.
And I’m proud to say I got 100% on the core game and DLC
Maybe this game is like God of War or Knack where there are tons of special moves and combos, but none are better than square, square, triangle.

I’m watching this 2 months after 100 percenting the pc remaster and I must say those 6 days were pure bliss!! It made me giddy as both a Spider-Man fanboy and a veteran gamer to see a game that was perfect for me in both regards!!

Oh, thank goodness. Jirard, I am so happy that this game turned out so good! Always have loved Spider-Man since childhood and especially love good Spidy Based Games. Another good, informative review Completionist, well done. Oh and the Homemade Suit is my favorite along with 2099 Spider-Man Suit and Spider-Man Noir Suit.

But in this case, the third panel is ACTUALLY AUNT MAE. Like, I've watched the original movies, seen game-play of this game and the comic versions. But that bottom image seems SO out of place.

Jirard you should play A Hat in Time DLC, Seal the Deal! I know you loved that game and even said you wish there was more too it and now there is! Co-op, a new chapter, and the snatcher quests you can do as well. Just thought this would be a good idea for A Hat in Time DLC - Completionist Game Plus.

Honestly, as much as I love Batman, the Arkham games took the combat from Spider-man 2 in 2004. Granted it was waaay better in Arkham
@bigevilworldwide1 I know that's how it went. I guess I shouldn't have worded it like that. Yeah, the flying thing was stupid. But it did add upon it in a lot of ways and made it it's own, including the use of gadgets and different things to do to your enemy, like stunning and counter attacks. Yeah, I know countering isn't considered that great since you can spam the button, but they added different enemy types to make sure that's not all you were doing all of the time. But with Spider-man, as you said, they tweaked it as they went. But in Ultimate Spider-man it was more of the same and (as far as I can remember considering I haven't played it in a decent amount of years) it took out the upgrading system that allowed you to do more with combat. I only played Web of Shadows once so I don't remember much of that one. But this is the first Spider-man game to actually build upon it and now that the Arkham games have come and gone everyone says that it's copying that series. If anything it took note on how to improve a formula that was already its own. (And don't get me wrong here, I am not saying those games were bad or anything like that. Spider-man 2 and Ultimate Spider-man were two of the few games I had from 2004 to 2013, those being my favorites)
& later Assassins Creed games too.. like being able to counter twice & then instantly knockout a thug with a special & how you can quick fire gadgets mid combat.
& Detective Vision which is literally just Eagle Vision.
i kinda think they were trying to evolve spider-man 2 systems as well i mean a lot of things you do are from that game with three major examples being the uppercut launch the tricks and the charge jump all debuting and being implimented from that 2004 game being put in this one. i myself kinda hate the generalizing sentences, but overall it feels more like a refined spider-man 2 and not a batman game combat wise. if only though i could hang the thugs over light posts and dangle them there then it would truly special

Mike Jack you said it yourself bro, it’s a dodge. Batman’s combat is a counter sometimes he dodges over the enemies or sometimes he damages the enemies. They’re their own mechanics. All insomniac really did was make different dodges, likes dodge from bouncing off walls, web zip dodge, jumping off enemies dodges. I do agree tho that spider-man may have taken the Focus Bar idea from the Arkham games.

You bet they did. They wouldn't waste time and effort putting stuff into the video that they don't like. They can just have really cringey humor a lot of the time, I've been trying to get them to rethink the way they handle their vids' humor with as much constructive criticism as I can give, explaining why certain jokes work and why others don't. Hopefully if more people start to do the same they'll actually start to listen.

You're right; the benchmark tab is a pain, but it's really nice to know you could still play the game with a purpose after 100% it.

The thing is single player games usually requires more content (aka cost more money to make), since multiplayer games has the benefit of player-driven experiences.
