    As a user of both the cameras i would strongly recommend a229 pro. A139pro rear camera quality was pathetic. Also front cam HDR implementation had some issues. I tried two different units of A139 pro and returned them. Bought A229 pro and so far it looks good. Rear camera quality is way better than a139 pro. I wish they had updated cables to the thin ones but rest assured A229pro is far superior to a139pro

    Love your video. Very informative. QQ - Have you had any issues hardwiring any of these cameras on a BMW. I read in forums where BMWs are very sensitive to battery discharge when it's in parking mode. Eventually, it will throw an error message and even switch off electrical devices temporarily. Just wondering have you ran into this issue before and are there any workarounds? Please advise. Thanks.

    • @SafeDriveSolutions
      @SafeDriveSolutions  Před 6 měsíci

      BMW, and Mini Cooper in general have these low battery notifications that appear on their dash. That is why we typically sell dash cameras with a 3 hour timer on them. A few people are starting to use battery packs now or not even use parking mode. On a side note just found out Toyota and Lexus changed their battery manufacturer to a cheaper one due to supply chain challenges.

    I am glad you posted the current draw, because I am wanting to try out the Dongar Dashcam Power adapter that takes power from your Auto Dimming rear view mirror, and I wanted to make sure I didn't overload that circuit. That would be one less wire I will have to route. Does or has anyone tried these adapters out on this unit? I am wanting to use this on a 2018 F150.

    I just installed mine 2 days ago and I found 1 thing to gripe about. I can't leave this camera on collision mode ONLY, which is weird because some of the dashcams I owned would give you the option to choose either motion detection or collision detection. While it's good that this dashcam will allow you to use both in parking mode, it should allow you to use just one of them too.

    • @SafeDriveSolutions
      @SafeDriveSolutions  Před 4 měsíci +1

      That is correct no impact only mode. Keep in mind that is why some people want a low current draw mode dash camera that has this feature. I told VIOFO a long time ago to focus on offering this. but if they do it needs to be 1-3 seconds after impact to wake up. A lot of other brands are 6-13 seconds after collision.

    Nice, I got the A139 before the A229 was available. Going to install it this spring. I have the 3ch, but I will probably not use the interior cabin one, so really two ch, but who knows I could change my mind. In terms of using, what is the advantage of 2K 60fps vs 4k 30fps. Better reading of license plate? What do I lose by not having HDR selected??
    Frustrated to learn that I cannot use an A229 rear camera with my 3CH A139 pro.

      Lotsof diuscussion over 2K 60fps. I still choose 4k for bigger resolution and 30 fps and hdr over 2k 60fps. But that is my preference. But i recommend testingnit and seeing what works for you

    Thank you for your detailed review! You explained in your replies that the “N4 Pro does well, just lacks a 2K Starvis 2 rear camera, N4 Pro is still a good option” and you “think the N4 Pro has a good video quality” but how would compare the front camera of the N4 Pro to the A229 Pro when it comes to capturing license plates? I watched another video in which the Reviewer stated, “During the day, N4 Pro was the king, had excellent clarity at night and is by far the most advanced at capturing license plates.” However, the Reviewer’s test included the A139 Pro, not the A229 Pro. What do you think? Do you envision Viofo or Vantrue coming out with a model that includes a telephoto lens any time soon?

    • @SafeDriveSolutions
      @SafeDriveSolutions  Před 6 měsíci +2

      I personally think people need to look at the video presented and make a decision on what they are looking for out of a dash cam. My personal opinion as stated in the video is the Viofo A229 Pro works awesome during the day. Best I have seen in 3 channel mode. At night HDR needs some modifications. Not sure what reviewer you are watching. But, I have seen a lot of dash cameras mounted in very bad spots where you can easily make a dash camera look superior to another. Without knowing all the details it is hard to state. I know what I have seen and night time driving needs a coreection on A229 Pro. I dont think Vantrue is a bad option. Just would prefer not to have interior camera built into unit, also do not likie their parking mode options. I have heard Viofo may have a telephoto lens add on for the Viofo A139 Pro

    • @StephSAS
      @StephSAS Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@SafeDriveSolutions Thanks, Ben! I was involved in a hit and run accident Wednesday night in which the other driver was at fault and he/she fled the scene. I can only remember the first three letters of the license plate, which I provided to the Police along with a description of the vehicle, but they haven't found it yet. So, I've been doing nothing but taking a crash course on dash cams since then (Happy Thanksgiving, huh?) focused on finding the absolute best camera for capturing license plates, which is more important to me than an interior camera, parking mode, etc. In your "Top 5 Best Dash Cam in 2023" video, you talked about the A139 Pro and said, "What really amazed me when the product first came out was how it actually picked up license plates even at night and a lot of low light conditions." You also talked about the fact that the A229 Pro recently came out and that with firmware updates, you have the feeling the A229 Pro will surpass the A139 Pro. Given that in your video titled "Viofo A139 Pro vs Vantrue Nexus N4 Pro Dash Cam," the A139 Pro did a better job at capturing license plates, I going to go with Viofo and I'm leaning towards the A229 Pro 2-Channel with the anticipation of future firmware updates. Knowing that license plate capture is the most important feature for me, do you agree that the A229 Pro is the best option? Thank you so so so much!!

    @SafeDriveSolutions I have the A229 Pro. I've recently got round to trying out the parking mode. I'm finding that it records nearly all the time. I will take a look at the firmware updates to see if that improves things. I've also noticed that the video resolution keeps dropping down to 2k and from this video realised it's because I've switched on parking mode. When we have tested sd cards we found the Viofo tested best. So if a customer wants to use something else that is their decision. @@JJBlade16 when using a 512gb micro sd card it will take longer to load video files when using smartphone app. But it does make sense that it would take longer to load as it is double the size. It would also be almost 24 hours of footage to go through on a 512gb micro sd card. That is a lot to sort through to try and find a video file. Pros is you have tons of video so if something happens great chance you will not record over it. Cons is it is a lot of video files to go through. The main point is if you want a 512gb I would stick with the viofo in my opinion. It is definitely easier to get a 128 for around $30 canadian that will typically work well.

      We use windshield as it will not damage my paint. Windshield allows for the test to happen. You would be surprised how many dash cams dont work properly on this test

    Just got done watching a video where a guy had a new vantrue s1 pro and a viofo a229 pro side by side( no review...just raw video in silence) and time and time again when pausing(especially at night) the vantrue showed the license plate while the viofo over exposes the plate and it is just a white blob. The Amazon deal today with black friday/cyber monday brought the S1 pro all the way down to 207.00 with a 45.00 discount on top of that so after tax it was 181.00.....so I bought one. It was down to these two units....both came out about the same time with similar tech. In the end it was about the s1 being 100.00 less. Any thoughts?
    At first glance the viofo looked a bit sharper but then I realized the vantrue camera filter or whatever you call it was just a bit "warmer" which resulted in those better license plate reads with less over exposure...less glare from lights. I will edit with the link to the video...would appreciate your thoughts.
    Here it is...just a raw vid side by side comparison: czcams.com/video/l0WMpgBwu-I/video.htmlsi=Uico0VVBqIJThFZZ
    Appreciate you man!
    Another edit: When watching that video I posted pause it at 1:00 and zoom in on the lit row of signs on the right. Viofo shows a bunch of white block signs on top of each other with no words. The Vantrue camera not only shows readable signs but they are actually different colors....white, black, yellow and a purple one. Huge difference there. Vantrue doing something there being able to see colors and read the signs that viofo isn't.
    Thoughts on that?

      I do not hide it in this review. Viofo has to do some firmware adjustments to HDR (High Dynamic Range) The Viofo Mini2 which is less than half the price of a A229 Pro does a better job at night. So nothing surprises me. But I also have never used an S1 Pro.

      I can't find that video. All I see it the S1 pro vs the A229 DUO or Plus. Can you post it, please.

      @@SafeDriveSolutionsyou are the best. Thanks for replying. I watched a VIOFO video and they are talking about a kit. Type C HK4 with 8pcs full set circuit fuse tap. For $25. Is that the same or is this something else. Thanks in advance.

      @@SafeDriveSolutions Thank You Sir. I think I will get the VIOFO A229 PRO...and also get the Dongar adapter to wire. I am on the fence about getting the front camera only and get a separate one just for the rear....Any thoughts on that ??
