Well Dave I beg to differ on what you said about teslas you can add a traditional obd2 to tesla's by going to Amazon and ordering a cam bus or a tesla obd conector wire converter that will use the daisy chian connection that will include a traditional obd2 split conector that's how you can get obd2 power gor a backup battery or dashcam

So I'm new to dash cams and I'm kind of down to these two perhaps, yet I'm curious what happens if someone breaks into your car and steals the unit, is there a way to at least send an image of the thief with the A229 version to a phone or something? Or would I need a cloud version like the U3000 or Blackvue maybe?

If you download dash cam by using sd card to your computer does the gps tracking also go to computer if it does how do you view it on the computer.

Thanks for the tips. When I get in the car to go somewhere I don't have time to fiddle about turning things off and on every time so I found another solution... I use an old phone for the dashcam app & WiFi and my actual phone for carplay. No interference then and I can just get in the car and go 😂

I found this camera’s parking mode is terrible, it will destroy memory cards!! I went through 3 different name brands of high endurance cards in the past year, they’re all became extremely slow reading & writing, It won’t delete the oldest parking clips and it will stop saving any video files without any warning, I have to manually format the card regularly to keep it running, it’s not reliable at all, the picture quality is amazing tho

However, the video suggests that the software isn't suitable for Mac users and that third-party software is necessary for video playback on a Mac. This inconsistency raises concerns for me as a Mac user, as I rely exclusively on Mac computers and would prefer not to use third-party software, which is usually paid or ad-supported. First dash cam buyer here, I am extremely indecisive about my first purchase especially when the difference seems to be so minimal. It comes down to the Blackvue and Thinkware. I’m leaning towards thinkware, now would you recommend the u1000, q1000 or u3000 for daily commuter with long parking hours? Is the u3000 price difference really worth it? That would be deal-breaker for me because I would want to be 'told' what & when I need to review footage. Can you recommend brands that do this, in that only need to be engaged with upon an incident?

So help me, that Vueroid D21 is my next dashcam. I enjoy the color rendering they do with the environment, it is more accurate and lacks that yellow to sepia tone we see in other dashcams. Thanks for the effort you put into the short vids, I know some folks want a long vid, and I do too, but these short vids are great for whetting the appetite in prep for the longer and more fact filled vids. I have had problems getting emails to and from VUEROID, would you ask them if their app works on the Apple iPads, especially the new iPad M2 Air?

But viofo has motion detection. Isn't thats good enough to capture whatever motion there is including when someone knock your car? It records 10-15 secs before the motion was detected and another 10-15 secs after.

Nice work Ben. When it comes to VIOFO parking modes; Low Bitrate is the only parking mode I trust, and recommend. Am I wrong? AED has the greatest number of user malfunction complaints on DashCamTalk Forum. Time Lapse does not record audio. That's why I only trust, and recommend Low Bitrate parking mode with VIOFO dash cams. -Chuck

Check your sources, you’re missing out : yes, upon an event, like an impact while parked BlackVue will push to the cloud at 480 resolution, this is to get the footage quickly, and it’s being placed under Live Event Upload tab within the app, the footage is now in the cloud and isn’t dependent on the dash cam storage. However if you check the Camera tab you will be able to find the same event/footage with an option to download the original file at 4k. You will be downloading directly from the SSD card but through the cloud which means unlike Thinkware you don’t need to be hooked with WiFi to download any file, something that Thinkware Connected App cannot do, so for any other footage than an event you are forced to be in the car ON ignition to pull any other footage. With BlackVue you can do it while in parking mode, from anywhere in the world and with the download options 480 or 4k Nothing comes close to BlackVue cloud services.

I have N4 Pro and just two weeks ago my car got vandalized from shovel in front of my car, it’s hit hard until car hood dented. So as soon as I checked the dash came it was not record anything … What wrong with my camera which I always connected, now I know that I was setting on collision which is taking 12 seconds to start to record! Now what? I have to pay to fix my car and change mode to motion detection and wishing it’s working properly 😢

Im still stuck, I want a good dash a with rear video with the power cell battery. In stuck on which to get for my truck.
