Sorry, I'm an idiot. On the Thinkware website, for the U3000. You mentioned this, but....???1.Personal Mobile Hotspot Device, connected via smartphone. 2. Portable Hotspot Device, connected via portable hotspot device. 3. Vehicle WiFi, connected via vehicle wifi. I didn't know vehicles had their own wifi...? And for 1 and 2, you have to purchase a separate device? And then pay for cell service, to said device?? Thanks.

Yes, Yes and Yes. All 3 are viable options. All 3 options require some sort of cellular plan.

Thanks Ben. I will try this again, resetting everything before starting - both apps and the device. I have done this numerous times and it always fails to register but one more time before I send it back as faulty won't hurt. Me too. Most of them unsuccessful. So here is the solution. 1. Do not try this on home wifi. 2. Do not try this if you have poor mobile/cell reception. 3. Park under a mobile/cell tower and proceed. It will likely work just fine. To say that this has been 5 days spent in frustration understates things. The error of "Check the certification number and try again" is incorrect. It is a networking error and is caused by a) using home wifi or b) poor mobile/cell phone data connection - could be connectivity or speed. I've gone from rating the device as a 1 star experience to perhaps a 3 star. Incorrect error messages and the essential information of you must use mobile data to complete the registration being some of the reasons why. Also, tech support seem focused on all the issues being with the user and literally having no clue as how to progress this issue further. At least here in Australia. Land of crap mobile/cell phone reception. @@SafeDriveSolutions
