Such a great content, I love the fact that you show us every step and what you use. Seems to be a typical light German paint, rock hard 🙂

Awesome job indeed. What pad/compound / sanding combination do you recommend to slightly knock down the orange peel on a repainted hood?
    Love your content!!

Thanks. Carpro makes denim pads that are meant to level texture but I’ve never tried them. I’ve only dry sanded to flatten orange peel.

@@nc.detail would sanding with 1500 / 2500 grit, then compounding / polishing sound like a good plan?

Depends on the damage. I’d start with 2500 or 2000. I have an older vid sanding our X5 for a bit of context

Out of curiosity, what speed were you running while cutting with the RUPES and how much pressure were you using? You're the first person I've heard mention that it is losing power towards the end of the battery, and it was advertised to be full power until battery cutoff rather than running down like the Milwaukee and Flex machines do.
Did you ever run into a situation where the battery discharged before the next battery was ready on the charger?

I was cutting at 4.5 and refining at 4. There is definite power drop the final few minutes of use. It’s not a long period but noticeable. I didn’t have any issues with the second battery as I was using two machines. A better test will be doing a single step polish with just the rupes.

@@nc.detail I usually stick to 3-4 when cutting and polishing and I don't really use any pressure (keeping the paint cool to increase cut). I'll be curious to see if I notice any power loss under those conditions. I have a 15mm and 21mm on order, so I'll have no shortage of batteries.

I hear you. I was using it same as the mk3 with moderate pressure, same downforce as with the rotary. It’s a good machine, much quieter, and slightly less vibrations.

What are your thoughts on the Milwaukee rotary?

Apart from being long and heavy, no complaints.
