Excellent job go as far as the paint allows
Thanks 👍
The sound track is spot on too. I’m in a doctor’s waiting room and it’s chill time.
Thanks 👍
Dramatic transformation on an extremely needly exterior😬😥. A professional's touch, well done 💯💯!!!
Thank you 🙏
Wow nice job man. I know when you have a detailer’s type of OCD that it’s easy to just keep taking risks like on that spot of infinite funk you showcased there. Finding that balance of when to risk and when to call it good has been a skill that requires quite a bit of experience and honesty. Thanks for sharing that Kovax kit too, just what I was looking for! 👍
Thanks. That sanding kit is definitely handy.
Looks good tell the owner the transmission pump goes on these cars cost around $3k to fix. Besides that the car is extremely reliable, probably the most reliable AMG ever
Will do, I might be seeing the car again as he’s had some body work done
Nice job! Just did my 2008 CLK350 First time ever doing anything more than washing my car. Used a combo of DA & Rotary. LC LL Wool and Blue Course to cut with KC H902 and Sonax Ultimate Cut. Then refined with KC M302 mainly. Also tried some sonax perfect finish and angelwax perfect polish. Then did some jeweling with LC Black HDO and angelwax redemption. Don't know if that did much. Then I sealed with KCS002. It came out amazing. So proud of myself. Did not remove much clear. That is some hard clear coat let me tell you. I plan to do again in the fall but first got to touch up some very small rock chips. Next time I am going to do entire thing rotary.
First time with a rotary?
@@nc.detail First time with any polisher. I did about 25% of the cutting with the rotary. I didn't have any rotary pads at the time so switched to DA and was getting better results. I got the rotary pads now for this fall when I go all out restore. First time I didn't go to hard and remove a lot of clear. So I have plenty to work with. Had to do a little wet sanding too to fix some clear and heavy oxidation.
When I se a rotary with the Rupes coarse woolpad, I know someone means business. I usually use the cut&finish wool/rotary on my boat/gelcoat.😯
That cut/finish pad is nice and smooth. Its a good one too 👍
Incredible work and results! Congratz! ❤
Thank you
Nice transformation
Thank you for the videos.
Thank you
Nice work
Thanks
Excellent job, I have done two o three jobs same like this I really saving a lot of time use DA sander it really help you can use next time at list you can save your time greetings from 🇧🇪🙏
I really wanted to use a sander on those areas but the thickness readings were too inconsistent. It definitely took longer with my approach. I used a Mirka file on a couple test spots and exposed primer quickly.
@@nc.detail I m technician detailed from 3M and when I did this kind of job I have finished in 12 hours especially clear coat pants take care 👍
Thx for adding your total time spent on it..
No problem
I’m really digging Sonax PF with the yellow Rupes
Good finishing combo
Thats my one step on my soft black paint and is the perfect combo after like 12 test sections and combinations. Perfect finish is glorious to work with and every polisher is gonna be its smoothest on a foam pad..hard work but very enjoyable combo.
Yikes man!!
Awesome stuff!!
Appreciate it
Do you have a list of products you use for each video? Would be super interested in seeing that if avail. Ty!
I put a few links in a few videos but I can update this one.
Wow did they wash this car with sand or a Brillo pad? Turned out great with some TLC 😊 Turned out great.
It wasn’t pretty
@@nc.detail yea but you did a awesome job on it. I hope your customertook care of the bubbling in the paint . The car still turned out great. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge and work on these videos.
howdy from Canada !! so i have done the same process on a number of cars like this beauty . That weird bubbling situation would (from what i have encountered in the past ) is a bondo or fiberglass repair that when finished the body shop who did the work did not let the filler properly set and the resultant shrinkage inwards leaves a bubble or air gap between primer and body filler . This gap slowly expands outwards as the rust they tried to repair grows underneath. SIngle stage paint does the same thing except the paint just flakes off in a pitiful shower of sadness. Clear coat being flexible for longer than one expects grows but does not flake until the "bubble "bursts. I had one let go on a mid 80's Jag door just under the handle and it took a 5x5" square of paint off with it revealing a shoddy bondo at home special..
Thanks for the explanation 👍
Did you paint the gladiator cabinets white? Noticed you had black ones before.
If you painted, can you share the paint you used and your experience?
I replaced everything with the white/gray a couple years ago and gave my parents the old ones.
Hello so I I just understand that the Kovax system you’re using is a dry sanding with the pre cuts. Would it be ineffective if I were to implement wet sanding with the Sam Kovax kit? Thank you in advance.
Dry sanding is better to track progress where there is less residue as compared to headlights. Wet sanding would be fine, it’s a preference aspect.
@@nc.detail I appreciate your response and the demonstration you gave us👌. I subscribed 2 days ago ago🫡
Hi from the UK, what did you use on the rubber seals around the doors?
M100 but any cutting compound will work fine. Thanks
Im 25, have a 21 Supra that is black, and i wanna learn how to do this. Where should i work?
Why not just work on your car? A DA and soft pads/compounds are a easy starting point
Do you think this could have all been done without the rotary and only the DA? If so, how much more time do you think it would have taken you?
It’s not just the cutting efficiency as the rotary can do edge work and curved panels easier than a DA. Plus the reduced vibrations make it more pleasant to use for longer.
@@nc.detail How thick does the paint have to be for you to consider using the Rotary vs DA?
Thickness isn’t important unless there has been work done which is pretty infrequent for the cars I see. Mostly paint condition and which vehicle determines if I use rotary or not.
have you used the Milwaukee m18 da yet?
I haven’t. I got the mil rotary around Xmas and more recently the rupes.
Also who painted the car ? Stevie Wonder ? More runs than 50c taco night in Tijuana..
Thanks for the explanation 👍
Stevie?… 😂 naw man, he read braille, got great hands, ain’t no way he would let this out of backyard tent. That paint job is a rattle can job to cover bullet holes.
Window trim rubber: what did you use on that? I have a 2004 F-150 with lots of that trim.
I used megs m100 but any compound will work to remove the top damaged layer of rubber
