    To Basic High School: The girl in this video is a student with ADHD. How dare you deny her the right to graduate with her friends. Either you let her graduate with her friends or face serious jail time for discrimination against people with disabilities.

    It’s not fair to her. She seams like such a smart and sweet person and she should get to walk with her friends.

    What a lame excuse not let her graduate with her friend

  • @pegacorn856
    @pegacorn856 Před 5 lety +24

    Should have let her attend graduation with her friends but not get a diploma then have her do the tutoring and summer school to get the diploma. Parents have final responsibility but the school, teachers/principal/couselars/doctors had equal responsibility for helping her. She fell through the cracks.

    I feel so bad for her I was in special ed and passed 2 of my test and came 5 points Away in each of the others my school just passed us on through but I did study really hard anyway so I would at least have some basic idea of normal. I really feel bad for this young lady she seems like a bright sweet young lady I hope she goes far in life. I didn't know I had A.D.H.D or S.A.D until I was 25 they knew I had something but since I was born in the 90s all the testing resources they have today were not available yet. Anyway I'm a 2012 gadurate and planning to go to college next year to become an Art Teacher. Best of luck to this girl and all the others like us were not dumb just have harder time catching up to our peers but we try same as everyone else if you ask me in America were to obssed with testing that might not even be an actual placing as for where A child is in there learning process ask me we should get rid of all state standerdized test and just look at school work and home work only. Anyway good luck for you future girl your amazing don't let that dumb school tell you otherwise 🥰💕🥰💕🥳🐈🤩

    I even received an award to best determination in my class so this is a bit of an over reaction because I can understand her.

  • @cryjohn7257

    At that time she would have gotten a certificate of attendance but not a diploma. Also, she would not have been able to walk. Until she passed all the “Proficiency Exams”. They do not require these tests any longer to get your diploma. Clark County School District still needs a lot of help accommodating children with special needs and high risk students.

    Basic High School needs to be shut down and all of the administrators in that school need to be retrained on helping people with disabilities graduate with an IEP diploma.

  • @MissTrixie29
    @MissTrixie29 Před 6 lety +11

    Seriously? She was diagnosed in elementary school and not once did she have anyone tell her she could have any kind of IEP? Not a pediatrician, a teacher, not the person who diagnosed her? Not even in elementary school? Although I feel bad for her, the mother is at fault and the girl is going to need to learn to control her ADHD in about 3 weeks when she graduates.
    I wonder what happened.

    • @alecedgeworth2814
      @alecedgeworth2814 Před 5 lety +2

      How do you figure that it is the mother's fault in any way?

    • @belac48621
      @belac48621 Před 5 lety +4

      I went too an elementary school that had told my mother I was "lazy". The school had me in some special ed class to "encourage me" to work harder. We moved to another school and when we got there I was immediately tested cause they had my previous school records and discovered I have dyslexia. If it hadent been for that new schoo and informing my mother that there are options, if they hadn't took the initiative I would have been in the same boat. Schools drop the ball all the time.

    • @ShannBrianna
      @ShannBrianna Před 3 lety

      The schools are primarily at fault, they know what to do. Went to private school that told my parents I was lazy only to find out in college my disease was recognized as disability and I should’ve been 504. Schools will do the bare minimum.

    Where was the help that the girl needed when she obviously asked numerous times for it in the first place? Oh, that's right. They refused to help her because she has ADHD. That is a poor excuse.

    This parent wants to put the blame on the school - how about the parent should have done her job to make sure her child received the resources for children with disabilities. Her daughter has been diagnosed since elementary school - mom had to have known!!! OWN IT MOTHER!

    That's great she gets to walk in the summertime when she's able to get a credit but she wants to walk with her friends that's what I liked about our high school if you didn't have all your credits you were still allowed to walk regardless you just didn't get the final diploma you would walk your name was mentioned they would give you a rolled-up sheet of paper that's what they gave everybody they didn't give us our actual diplomas until the end of the ceremony we could go collect it at the booster stand on the athletic field of course if you owe school fees or something like that you might not have got it that day either

    ADHD doesn't exist. I was diagnosed, too, and took handfuls of drugs in 2nd grade. That's why I had it in the first place!

    • @torgiebride8558
      @torgiebride8558 Před 5 lety +8

      It exists. I beg to differ, and my husband, who DOES have it, begs to differ. I DO believe that it's being radically misdiagnosed in children. I'm sorry for your experience, friend. But it is a real thing.

      The Interesting Nobody are you that ignorant? It certainly does exist. I have ADHD. When I was in school I was so hyper that it was impossible for me to stay in my seat. Once I was put on a med for this condition I did just fine
