@@garveyneal1672 This is my point, exactly. These were all great villains. And yet, neither Disney or Pixar wants to go back to their roots and create films with antagonists and villains you love to hate.
I think they don't want to go back to straight up villains because their audience nowadays is more for younger people so they don't want to have bad bad people because they want it's an example for your kids is when they grow up so they have a bad person but is not actually a bad person cuz it shows even if you're a bad person then you can turn into a good person I can see your point that Disney and Pixar should have more her pure villains but you got to understand that people will want to see a better character arc by that I mean if you have a bad person turn into a good person it can make for a better story or have a good person turn evil so in the end it just depends on the movie theme so if the movie has a family theme then it won't have a pure villain now if it's theme has more action than it may have a pure villain so it just really depends on the theme of the movie you're going for and Pixar's mainly has been going for more family themes instead of more action themes this goes the same with Disney and if you want to see more pure villains I believe Disney's newest movie that's going to come out wish will have a pure villain but anyway this is just my opinion I hope it helps bye

Like I said they still do make villains but they won't be as good as the ones they made in the past because nothing beats the originals and I'm 15 so I wasn't alive during the time of Disney's best villains and heroes but I did see Pixar's best villains and heroes and I will agree they need to have a true villain at least once in awhile so it's not entirely a bad thing if they can make a good movie without a villain then they don't need one but still I will say Disney and Pixar need some villains in their upcoming movies Elio and Wish but just so you no I do agree with but also disagree I'm a neutral kind of person who likes both things instead of one so while I like there are no villains I also hate it okay but I hope you have a great day or night

I honestly agree with the whole "no actual villain in the movie", I saw the movie and honestly I Doo agree with the whole conflict and character growth thing, it did make me a bit sad to see this movie wasn't received too well but it got me thinking, if the movie had done better and had the resources for it, would they make a sequel for it? I know it is highly unlikely but it would be nice to see the characters return

Just a note that the plot and core message of Elemental was "make connections" not just on the global community level, but locally, with similar minded people, with family, and your inner-self. Learn to treat everyone with integrity and compassion, even if they are your polar opposite personality, or you will never become whole. That's why the 4 Elements are used, because they represent the 4 Core Elements of Spirituality... not a racial allegory. Certainly race is a huge implication of applying those principles, but not a direct allegory. If you had a pair of glasses that replaced the Element-people with actual people, you would see every race, religion and ethnicity present within each group of Elements, because the spirit they embody, applies to humanity as a whole. Air is the Free-spirited, Earth is its opposite, steady, stable, grounded, structured. That's why Gail is so surprised to see Fern is a Windbreaker fan, because that goes completely against his core Earth personslity. Water is the element of adaptability and change, but also wishy-washy. Fire is of course the opposite... the element of power, in terms of self-reliance, dedication, selflessness, fueled by a burning passion.
Wade was raised with unconditional love and support, no matter what he did, the career he pursued, or whether he met success or failure... or even ran away, his family supported him. Much like buying your kid everything they ask for, as soon as they ask for it... no matter how positive the experience is, Wade is left hollow and empty... searching for something genuine... something he could be truly passionate about... cue Ember.
Her parents loved and supported her too... but by virtue of her upbringing and their past, they inadvertently cast a massive shadow over her. They left everything, built a house and a store... then literally founded a community. Everyone knew them, which means no matter what Ember did, she was always in their shadow, trying her absolute best to do nothing more than make her parents proud, and live up to their legacy... but despite her skills and successes... she considered her life, and herself to be a failure... going as far to say "the only way to repay a sacrifice that great, is to sacrifice your life too" and that’s heartwrenching to hear... and then when you realize her parents never told her that... never imposed that onto her... that she arrived at that conclusion entirely on her own... goodness that's awful. The worst part about it though, is it's all because her parents never communicated their expectations of Ember to her, despite them being phenomenal communicators with the residents of Firetown... and they don't realize the grave error, until they nearly lose her.
Ember showed Wade a genuine connection... Wade showed Ember how to connect to others, herself, and how to live... but her burning passion and drive to uphold her family's legacy was an incredible hurdle to clear... that's why Ember was so volatile... remember the scene where Wade gets her to cry? He's crying because he loves her... she's crying because she believes they can't be together... ultimately, it took her parents realizing their mistake, for her to finally have that heart-to-heart conversation... which was just so beautiful.
That was the final interaction with Wade that you guys missed. It was Ember's parents realizing he saved her... someone he barely knew, for something he didn't fully understand... but it was genuine, and selfless... water embodying fire. That was Wade's big moment... culminating in Ember and her family saving him.
They fixed eachothers metaphorical leaky-pipes... became Spirituality whole... and that last scene where Ember affirmed to herself that she was worthy of her parents legacy, and her father returning that affirmation... my goodness... I'd never been brought so close to tears, so many times in a film... I've still never cried in a theater... but I never thought a film about talking Elements would get to me.
This is by far one of my favorite films Pixar has ever made. Yes, it's predictable and familiar... but it's just so wholesome and genuine. I absolutely love it!!!
I can't recommend it though, for kids under 8, because even though it's a rom-com, there really isn't much comedic relief after the first act, and it gets pretty deep. I'm really happy though, to see a more mature film geared towards teens and adults out of Pixar, though... and I'm ecstatic to see them back in theaters again!!!
I really hope this thing becomes a sleeper hit... Pixar doesn't deserve to go down like this.

I'm certainly in the minority, but after seeing this once in the theatre, I can't stop watching it (I work at a cinema. Cheap tix!) I'm not a movie buff whatsoever, so I'm unsure of the validity when I say that this is in my top 3 Pixar films. The romance, the themes, and the pacing don't drag, but it can feel like there's room to grow. With that in mind, I'd still give it a 5/5

While we're at it, I'll say three things I personally like and dislike about Wicked Binge.
1st Like: A fairly object podcast channel that leaves a lot of room for others to agree and disagree.
2nd Like: A wide variety of list topics, including morality, companionship, intelligence, gruesomeness and power rankings.
3rd Like: Brad's cool voice over.
1st Dislike: The videos just end without any title card that reminds to stay wicked.
2nd Dislike: The background music changes too frequently.
3rd Dislike: Too many worst characters and why they suck rankings. How about some of the best characters?

I loved this movie. It's important to see it for what it is and not get hung up on details. It is also important not to compare with previous Pixar films, but to watch it with a twinkle in your eye. It's simple but still brings up good points, then it's meant to be a romantic comedy about the four elements. And that's what makes it unique, even if the story itself doesn't feel new, it's good and more romantic than other films on the same theme. This is a perfect movie in many ways. The main characters Ember and Wade are without a doubt the cutest couple I've ever seen on film.
Yah, I love how they were able to touch in that scene, just the relief and love shown in their face ❤
