I actually love the idea of a pub that won't let you use your phone. Gets people talking and enjoying the moment ☺hope you can get up to Scotland soon when you've got more spends!
Yeh that pub is my fav one now! I know....it's so far@
@Emmie4497 It's a nice concept, I go to one Rye, Sussex. Conversation is encouraged as the landlord sits you down with other people to chat with. Also, every item in the pub is available to buy. Pretty unique
@@TheLifeOfSteve24 Very unique! I love that. Technology sometimes prevents us from actually mixing so it's brave for these places to try and reclaim the social side of pubs
@@Emmie4497 100% agree, I do enjoy social media (sometimes) but I agree that it's stopping people being social and so many people end up ignoring each other and staring at their screens.
Me and my friends sometimes played a game where all phones had to be on the centre of the table. The first person to grab their phone had to buy a round for the group 😂
@@TheLifeOfSteve24 I'm down south and it stops being even looking at each other here 😛it's such a shame cause the best nights out I've had are ones where I've met new people.
That sounds like an awesome game! It might tempt you even less if the first person to pick up their phone gets it chucked out the window 😇
Top channel mate! Love the vids and keep doing what your doing and aim for the whole of the UK 🍺
enjoying your channel mate, must be fun exploring different pubs around the country! Looks like youre having a good time!
Cheers pal. Yeh not too bad when you find a good few bars in one area 👍🍺
Another gem . Love the Videos . Looking forward to the next One 👍
Love your channel mate great to see the differences between your pubs and ours here in Australia please keep up the good work
I had a very sketchy night in Sheffield many years ago. ended up kipping under a tarpaulin till i could get a train back to stockport the next day. It was like being in an outtake from 28 days later.
Whereas Stockport is twinned with Shangri- La.
😂 Stockport is an absolute shit hole.
Steam boats you got kicked out for being steam boats lol
I love walking around new towns/ cities having afew pints in different spots and every time I watch these vids thats all I want to do.
Gardeners rest looks cracking , Wellington looks great those stouts look great 👍,Samuel Smith fantastic brewery, like their digital detox policy, great 👍 video mate cheers 🍺🍺🍺
Samuel smiths oatmeal stout is a lovely bru another great video mate.
Hey from Wales 🏴 Another great video.
Cheers pal 👍
Every pub you went to looked decent 👍after the 4th pint yet mates looked well charged up lol
Love your videos mate. Keep em up
Class this channel lad, love it.
Cheers pal, really appreciate it
I just came across this channel .I absolutely love the uk. I love the walk abouts and the dingy bars haha. Im hoping to visit this summer, im so excited!
Love Sheffield. Been there many times. Great people.
Nice one. 🫡👍 When you're next back down this way, lads, you should pay a visit to Rotherham. The County Boroughs a great starting point. Ha.
Keep them coming. Spot on. 🍻👌
Liking how Full their clubs pubs are 😮
Love this channel mate keep it up!
Cheers pal 👍
I enjoy watching your videos. Hope you manage to get to Scotland would like to see your videos from there.
really good pubs
I went for a pub crawl around Sheffield last year. Visited the Fat Cat, The Shakespeare, Three Tuns, Dorothy Pax on the canal and few others. All decent traditional pubs with good variety of beers. I also visited the local pubs on the outskirts of the Peak District where I was staying. There it felt more like being in a country village.
Yeh mate, so many pubs to go abouy
Loving these videos mate!
🤣🤣🤣 cheers 👍
They are all mint pubs 😂
Proper dingy city centre crawl would of been farm road social club, penny black, Norfolk arms on Dixon lane, hen and chickens on castlegate, bankers draft 😅
I thought the same, all nice places these 😂
Don’t forget the Bessemer, maggie mays and Yates😂 when I lived in Sheff 5 years ago there’d always be some interesting characters in them/trouble. Need to go back and go to them 😂
Is Barry's still going?
@@diskopartizan0850 ye mate on London road
@@diskopartizan0850 could do a dingy pub crawl on London road alone if he was going out of city centre tbf 😂
New sub here from the PH bro', awesome pub crawl, reminds me of the "Golden Mile" in the movie "Hot Fuzz" - but instead of 12 Pubs in one village, it's an unlimited number of Pubs all over the UK - looking forward to the next one bro'! More power to the channel & God bless!
Don't wanna sound anal but the film was the world's end
I remember drinking in the gardeners arms during the day visiting one of me mates who was at university in Sheffield. I was about 17 and got the national express over there from Leeds. Was a messy weekend.
Loving the vids mate keep it up!
Cheers pal, really appreciate it 👍
Good stuff bud. Cheers from Canada
;0)
Bangin, Look at the dome on that,It is what it is.
You are steaming mate!!!! 😂😂
Brilliant mate...i'm from Sheffield.
Some of them Sheffield pubs look alright. Cheers pals
Yeh mate, half decent
Sheffield looks alright. Thanks for the video!
Cheers pal
It's a great night out. The Washington is a real ale pub that's amazing too.
brill place to live. Third of it in the stunning Peak District. City living in the countryside. No other city like it. Don't tell everybody though. We tend to keep quiet about it
ITS ALWAYS INTERESTING WHEN YOU TELL US THE PRICE YOU PAID FOR YOUR BEER IN EVERY PUB THAT YOU HAVE VISITED.
Sometimes i forget! 🤣
Great vlog. Both the Sam’ Smiths pubs near us are shut because the management are so difficult to work for.
Frog & Parrot in Sheffield used to sell Roger& Out beer in the ‘80’s.. blew yer socks off!
Yeh mate, that owner is a nut job. Shame you lost 2 of them
Not been to Sheffield for years. Some proper looking pubs there fella. Great video again 👍
Deffo get yourself back mate. Cheers pal 👍
Sheffield is pretty well known for having some decent pubs
for all Sheffield shortcomings, a lack of quality boozers certainly isn't one of them
Dove and Rainbow was always my regular in Sheffield. They didn't used to do Guinness on tap, but I think they do now. I'm not in there that often since I quit drinking, but it's always had a good vibe, a very rustic rock bar. Very similar to The Swan in Liverpool.
Shame i missed that! Sounds a right joint
It's a great pub! Was in there the other week, hasn't changed since I moved to Sheffield, super-friendly crowd too
Looks like im on the way to Sheffield. class video as always
So many bars mate, can tailor your night out!
New York Times says best ale pubs are at Sheffield, Kelham Island.
The pub in the Sheffield train station is the best, it's like going back to 1910
Great vid this. Kelham Island where you started has enough for a night out alone without even going into the centre. Definitely a more relaxed vibe around there on a night compared to the centre. Spoilt for choice in Sheffield really.
Cheers pal. Yeh, quality of places to go is ace!
"look at dome on that"yeah it is what it is.
"Is what it is" 😁 Nice one fella. Subbed 😉
Cheers pal, but laying off the beer when checking out estates. 👍
I appreciate your channel buddy ! It's great to see places i may never be able to see in person myself. Have you any plans on going to Ireland ?
Sheffield, my home for more than 8 years, proper place for pubs, the capital of ales!! That pub Gardner's rest is actually pretty nice, down the road, most of the pubs at Kelham Island are worth to have a look, Riverside, Shakeai, Kelham Island Tavern, Fat Cat, all class
Went in the brown bear last month and it's a really nice pub where you can just chill and be cozied up next to the fire
That Samuel Smiths pint looked nice, Like it creamy and wow £2.20!
I used to go to Sheffield when the new romantics scene was all the rage (Human league, Steve Strange etc) all I can remember is that there was a long walk between pubs. Interesting video. 👍
Sheffield city centre is sprawling, it's kind of long and stretched out instead of being a circular city centre if that makes sense. So if you're walking it can take 10-20 minutes to get somewhere
Went to uni in Sheffield year ago, go back a few times a year for the cracking pubs!
The Guinness looked amazing I wanted one
love your videos, Im a Brit living in South Australia and do i miss a proper English PUB!...saying that the COOPERs beers here are nice. hope you go to Lincoln soon , my home city.
Cheers pal! Love one fifty lashes over there!
@honestplaces yep that's a good drop, when your channel gets bigger(it will) and you travel...give me a msg and you can have free accommodation here...but we go on a bender Aussie style.
The most nortorious dingy bars are the hen and chickens and norfolk arms in the city centre 😊
proper video, ur one of the best brits, up there with backpacker ben, cheers lad
Cheers pal, i filmed more but got drunk way too quick and the footage i got was terrible 🤣
I like Ben, but he records more in exotic locations rather than the UK.
That mild looked amazing reminds me of what my old man drank and £2.20 a pint
Wad mate! Alot of those Sam Smith pubs about 👍
You sound hammered at the end 😂😂
Congratulations on 25K
Just seen that! Cheers pal 👍
The next time you go to Sheffield try the Norfolk Arms on Dixon Lane and The Carlton Hotel in Attercliffe, it's a bit of a trip between the two but the cliffe has some really dingy pubs.
Anyone thinking of coming to Sheffield this man started at an area called "Kelham Island" (the hipster place he referred to). It's an old industrial area that's now more a night out destination.
Then the Wellington is near Shalesmore tram stop.
Then he was in the Brown Bear which is at the back of Tudor Square (near the Crucible Theatre)
Don't think I've been in The Forester but it looked like Division Street (?)
The Washington is off West Street. (I've never liked it in there.)
Great video. Hope you enjoyed your visit to Sheffield!
Kelham lsland is real ale territory.
There is also, the fat cat there too.
That dark mild stout looked quality. £2.20 is mad, in a city centre too
Looks decent Sheffield, Add Warrington to the list pal 👍🏼
These will be right up your street for when you come to Newcastle (The Toon).
All in the city centre: Black Garter, The Clock, Butlers, Rose & Crown, The Beehive, 3 Bulls Heads, The Percy, Sgt Peppers, Rafferty’s.
A bit further out in Byker, you’ve got Shields Rd with any amount of suitable establishments! Enjoy!
New York Times says best ale pubs are at Sheffield, Kelham Island.
The pub in the Sheffield train station is the best, it's like going back to 1910
It is what it is
Need get yourself up Hanley in Stoke on a Saturday night that’ll be an experience for you 😂
Loads of great pubs in Sheffield
100%
I usually go to Sheffield once a year to either watch a theatre show or to watch the World Seniors Snooker at the Crucible and I usually have a pint of extra stout in The Bear when I'm to early to check-in to the hotel and I usually have one more there before I watch the show or snooker.
Oreyt pal I like your video
Just discovered your channel, got my sub! keep doin :)
Cheers pal, really appreciate it 👍
I moved around the Sheffield area about 5 years ago, I think it's a decent place. It feels more like a massive town. But I do love the look of the old industrial buildings being repurposed.
I moved here 7 years ago from London I get what you mean, it does feel like a big town, not so much a big city. Very friendly people here.
Three Tuns, Grapes, Dog and Partridge, Fagans, Bath Hotel, Blake Hotel, Blind Monkey, Fat Cat, Kelham Island Tavern. Not dodgy pubs, or dingy, but well worth going to.
So much on offer!
Go gorton manchester lovely pubs there 😂
Just found your vlogs mate loving it some great pubs ever thing of getting over to Dublin for the real Guinness 🛟☘️☘️
These places are actually a vibe! Way better than other certain other places you’ve been to lol👍
Was quite refreshing 🤣
@@honestplaces night and day difference I would say haha
@@matthewwilliams3827 100%
BUT WHAT IDIOT WANTS TO SPEND MORE MONEY THAN THEY ACTUALLY HAVE TO MATTEW.
Love the vids. Your mates seem to be happy joining you for the decent pub tours but can’t make the walks around council estates!!
Yeh he draws the line at that 🤣
Lowenbrau on tap 👍🍻
Used to do a job next to that Wellington . Always wanted to go in but was always closed . Looked like my kind of dingy pub
The Welly isn't dingy , it's very traditional and quiet. Worth a visit.
You need to come back Sheffield has loads of gem pubs like them. Youve only scratched the service . And go to Shrewsbury that has some really old pubs and nice bars and 1hr on the train from your end. Good work.
I know mate. Couldn't get through them all! 🍺🤢
@@honestplaces not on them beers 🍻 I'm nearly 50 I can't drink like that or I would be the size of a house 🏡😭
Brown Bear looks a top pub
I have never drunk a Samuel Smith beer that I did not like - They are a great brewer and I would highly recommend them to those who appreciate a good flavoursome pint. On another matter I liked what I saw of Sheffield.
You passed close by many of the best and dingiest pubs in sunny Sheffield.
That second stout looked interesting.
Had a weird coffee taste. Good though
Init ahaha
some top old industrial pubs Neepsend, Carlisle st, some of best independent brewers n pubs in Sheff.. Washington is clicky
Aye these sam smith bars are interesting, visited one in Gloucester and was surprised when all drink was their own brand.
I'm from Sheffield, but don't really go out that much. If I do it's generally to the Forum Bar of Devonshire Street. On a hot Saturday afternoon in Sheffield, it's not uncommon to see gangs of 20+ people doing the rounds. The big city draws in people from the surrounding towns and villages by train
2.20 a pint , thas more like it 😄.
Init 👍🍺
You need to get into the depths mate! Proper estate pubs where they drink vodkas through their eye socket after removing their glass eye
😮
You finished outside my old flats
Nice video but how come you didn't find a "Dingy/rough" boozer there is plenty of them, you also missed the main strip by about 50 yards
was it midweek or weekend?
Did the Washington still have loads of teapots on the shelves? 😂 Great channel keep up the good work 😂
Dunno, kicked out too soon to see 🤣 cheers pal
The Shakespeare in Sheffield has the best pint of Guinness I've ever had (never been to Ireland)
Watching from co Kildare
Get good Guinness there?
@@honestplaces Ireland get a pint in Dublin city €4.50 drinkers pub
Should've gone the Norfolk Arms. Was in there Sunday for the football and they just played karaoke from 2pm onwards... On a Sunday...
Was too hungover to visit on the Sunday. Sounds boss though that!
If you're ever back in Sheffield, I think you'd quite like The Roebuck
Get yourself down Stoke next!
I enjoyed those pints with you & the lads ! £2.20 for a pint is a great deal ! Have you been to Middlesbrough yet ? The place is dismal !
you need to do Shakey Wakey, Ponte Carlo and Cas Vegas!
what was the stout they had at The Wellington I couldn't hear them
very classy she gave you a glass to top it up the pints. very rare to find sam smith stateside
You should come back to Liverpool mate you didn't do it justice last time it has the best nightlife in the UK
Coming back soon for a night out 👍
The church bar is owned by the front man of bring me the horizon oli sykes I have been there and met the band - love the videos mate
Yeh i know. Just didn't think anyone would care if i mentioned it 🤣
@@honestplaces I care aha
@@michaeljenkinson840 you already knew anyway 🤣
Try Grimsby. The land that time forgot.
Sheffield is alright good beer good people just a bit far south for Yorkshire 😂
That is trur
If you come up to Scotland I could show you around some non touristy pubs in Edinburgh, you'd love it.
It's in the works!
Shandwicks!😊
The Saracen Bar when you get to Glasgow
