drinking in Glasgow's dodgiest pubs! - czcams.com/video/EjzPC1byhEg/video.htmlsi=owuAxklzI0gFpMLA
I reguarly get leggless drunk on fine Scotch and beers in Dumfries. I am Irish and on a years work contract here. The Scotish people are great to get falling in the gutter drunk with as I do every Friday and Sat Night. Love the fish suppers when I crawl on hands and knees to the fish en chipper near the pubs... speaking drunkin gibberish that somehow Scots understand. I was rolled a few times. Some Scots Git robbed my wallet with about 300 quid of my wages still in it, when I was on my knees mouldy drunk.
The Scotish bastard hit me over the skull with a glass coke bottle. I was bleeding. Someone called an Ambulance. I was never right in the head after that
Easterhouse dodgy Glasgow part & PUB's
@@user-ir3qv3uv7sI think I know who you are 😂😂😂🙃
How did Robert Burns live in that place in 1971 (He died in 1796)?
Yeh i mis-read it, realised after 🤣
Nah he didn’t , read the credits on the classic Rolling Stones album 💿 Sticky Fingers . Rab Burns played the saxophone 🎷 on Cant you hear me knocking
😂
@@Smog104 I heard Rabbie played with the sax , cough
As rough as toast 🤗🫢
I play in pubs around Scotland (I lived down south for a while too), and the only hassle I've ever had has been in the big chain pubs. All the wee ones that are meant to be dodgy or are full of locals are usually the best places. As long as your not an eejit the folk are great and there are some real gems.
Yeh that is true. The dingy run down ones always have the best folk
100% small locals are the best,, I’ve met some great people over the years and still friends with a good few of them 👌
Nay, Dumfries is not that rough, lovely place to live. Its the same as anywhere else. There are some rough people but there are even more very nice friendly people. The countryside is stunning and the air so clear.
Yeh it just needs cleaning up abit, outskirts are ace though, plenty of hills and walks!
@@honestplaces Oh yeah, i love walking in Galloway. Truly beautiful, enjoy.
I agree and also you get rough people everywhere in the world but most people are good.
Newton Stewart is rough full of farmers
@@davekerr86 Wtf? No it isn't. Newton is a quiet little town similar to Castle Douglas or Kirkcudbright. Dumfries on the other hand - well just a couple weeks ago there was a samurai sword attack lol. Also "full of farmers"? Outside of town maybe, very rural. Majority in town are tradesmen.
Been watching all your videos over the pasts few months. I love this view into the UK from an Irish man. The poorer areas interest me the most, always the most character.
Cheers!
Found your channel two weeks ago, watched every video now and check daily for new content, its good to see places but your character is what makes the content good, hope you continue to do more stuff.
Sitting on the couch in my house in Australia watching you have beers 🍻👌
Bits n Pieces still getting played in Scotland? Classic tune 😂
Always 😂
our 'other' national anthem! 😉
I'm going to a wedding on Saturday and expecting it to be played, no Scottish wedding is complete without Bits n Pieces 😂
@@Silver_Staramg Run Rig it the end pissed with a kilt on and slippy shoes always a laugh
Hooj Choons 🤘
I’m honestly loving this content! I hope you keep the vids coming !
Cheers pal, really appreciate it 👍
What a channel man. Loving the content! Although Dumfries ain’t too bad! Come to Bathgate next time you’re up in Scotland and I’ll show you some right shitholes!
Cheers pal. Just abit ropey init. But yeh it aint nowt compared to alot of Scotland! 😬
@@honestplaces
Hero! Looking forward to more videos :)
Go to Ladywell and sit in pub and say it’s rough on Saturday night 😂
@@alicewonderland585
What pub? 😂
The Bathgate holes are long gone....
Excellent content mate love your channel love all the difference pubs looking to go to Scotland this year pubs look great love from Dublin
Brutal! Love all of those pubs! Most of them are my kind of place!
All bangin
Another great video mate hopefully your subs will grow and grow so you can do this as a full time thing with more videos exploring more places keep it up bro
Cheers pal. That would be the dream! See how things go 👍
My favourite part by far was you acknowledging that Dumfries had a 'decent river' - cracking vid fella!
Was a decent river 🤣 cheers pal
Maybe see you when you're back in the North West lad
@@honestplacesyou're a prick mate...don't come to Stirling or we'll kick fuck out of you
Your phraseology cracks me up man, love these vids.
You handle yourself in the appropriate manner! Great uploads btw! I subbed from America 🇺🇸!
We'd visited a Tibetan Buddhist Monastery in Eskdalemuir and decided we would stop over in Dumfries before making our return journey South , had a cracking night 👍
Dumfries certainty hasn't changed since the last time I was there....about 20 yr ago great 👍video bud cheers 🍺
@1:38, if Robert Burns lived in that house in 1971 that must make Rab C Nesbitt a poet laureate. 😉
Well done mate - your channel is growing nicely 👍
Cheers pal 👍
Cheers lad great channel 🎉 class seeing you in GTA 😂 they are quality been put together very well 👌 cheers 🍻
Cheers pal, really appreciate it! Hoping for a red dead one next 🤣
Another top video mate......keep them coming..
Nice one mate, I reckon that river was close to bursting its banks !
Good to see you came to my town !
Went for a nice walk the next day. Very scenic if your drive out abit
Favourite you tube channel.
More more please.
Do some shots haha
Rabby Burns definitely didn’t live in that house with his family in 1971 🤣
Yeh i've no idea where that date came from 🤣
Ooof Prague will be tricky. Some good ones are spread amongst a plethora of tourist trap pubs. The back streets around Staromestske square are worth a visit. If you want dingey, take a look around Smichov, you’ll probably need to go to the outskirts though to find “proper rough”.
Looks an alright town Dumfries if Im honest. Those boozers looked ok to.
Always mint content bro! ❤
Cheers pal
I've always loved Scotland especially the islands 😊
Prague is class mate enjoy. I recommend the Prague beer museum pub....great beers 👍👍
prague's class - looking forward to that!
excellent - thanks for the uploads
Used to play in a cabaret type club band , and we'd play in social clubs, working mens clubs etc...back in the late 70's before punk...Played in Dumfries a few times...Great little place!...we had more hassle playing in the English town of Edinburgh than we did in the Scottish town of Dumfries!...😂
Emjoy your videos mate, wish we had more of your pub-culture here in sweden
Reminds me of Chester a bit mainly the shots of the river
Good video
The hole in the wall is a great pub.
Sad to see that the town isn’t looking so good. Maybe on a better day it would look better?
I used to think Dumfries was quite posh; compared to Carlisle.
Really like these vids
Yeh abit of sun maybe, but it is Scotland! Most of the pubs were ok to be fair, just the building in the immediate center need touching up
Dumfries is a lovely wee town in rural southern Scotland!
"Devorgilla, Lady of Galloway, lived from 1210 to 28 January 1290. One of the most powerful women of the age, she was hugely influential in her own right, and was the mother of one Scottish King, John Balliol."
Well that's some info for the viewers. Nice one 👍
Hoots Mon, it all looks pretty decent.
Another awesome vid i aint been to Scotland having seen your coverage think i might go 👍
Cheers pal. Proper scenic on the west coast pal 👍
@@honestplaces nice 😎
Glasgow and the Loch Lomond area are a good combo to get started.
@MartyMcK cheers thanks for the heads up 😎
Hole in the Wall was the local of John Laurie(Private Fraser from dads army). Loads of photos of him on the walls yet no mention.
Was pretty cut by then 🤣
Sad. I was there 20 odd years ago and it looked a nice place.
Great stuff, be nice if you could give the price of a pint when you go in the pubs mate. Just to compare.
Cheers. I always have good intention to but forget after afew 😭
i have had a few holidays at barend in Dumfries beautiful locals were nice polite loads of amazing places to go i tend to find not all but a lot of the best places are the run down places
The Queen of the South. It's lovely before you even see it!
It looks Scottish enough to me. But then so does Berwick, which I keep forgetting is in England. Carlisle and Penrith look a bit Scottish as well
Historically those towns and cities moved back and forth
Try Carlisle's botchergate .There's a few pubs on there you could try .
And here's another 😂. How did I miss this. Dumfries... The deep south to me. 😂✌️🏴... Should do Inverness. Great pubs in town there. And loads of history. I think you'll enjoy selection of bars.
I've only ever driven through as it's so far. But will do in the summer pal 👍
Come to Carlisle lad! Just over the border and loads of pubs. Maybe get yourself up to Cairnryan and pop over to Belfast. You could maybe do pubs in the outlying areas (New Lodge, Shankill, Falls).
Everyone keeps saying Belfast and Carlise! Bet there are some right boozerz
nice channel, you missed my local ,the friars vaults near whitesands, thank you Imperial is great
Missed afew init 😭 cheers pal
The Globe looks very cosy. Would enjoy a few pints by that fire.
Yeh was bangin that one
My step dad used to own the Globe Inn before it was taken over by the new owner. It’s nick name is Jurassic pal. It’s heaving at weekends 👌🏼
Started kicking off in the globe inn, 1 old guy in 😂
That's kicking off for a scottish town pub 🤣
Belhaven Best is a decent pint.
Locally brewed 15 minutes up the road from me
Decent init
Try teeside mate southbank or haven’t hill. Rough as. Even taxis don’t go near some parts
Another interesting video 👍
12:30 > thats that X factor winner on the Mic
Hi pal, can I ask what camera your using to make these banging films ? 😊
Try Greenock! It will win hands down.
Looks a dive 🤣
Dumfries is not a rough town, been there many times.
Yeah the town isn't rough.
Try the schemes😂
Come to Budapest, we've got literal "ruin pubs" called "romkocsma". They are mostly for tourists now but there are some absolute hovels around if you know where to look.
All the best!
Sounds mega that!
@honestplaces Beer's a lot cheaper here too! Except Guiness, that's about £5-6 a pint.
Even the hovels in Budapest are amazing.
You nearly sounded Scottish at the end.. Tennents Lager effect 😂
🤣🤣 creep up on ya those tennants
Live in Scotland never been to Dumfries and its pubs. Its on the to do list now though. 🎉
Good for a pubs sesh, that seems about it though
love your vids . im from dumbarton scotland. i would love it if you would try the pubs in the vale of leven dumbarton. pubs are the "pawn", the "old vale bar", the "station bar," "mckenzies" , fountainwell bar and the "fox", it's a quietish village a couple of miles past dumbarton high street and just before you get to balloch loch lomond. thank you and looking forward if you do this one cheers and safe journeys all the time.
Then into Dumbarton for The Burgh, Bar, The Lennox and The Waverley, hopefully Stags reopens again soon😁
Cheers pal. I will head back north of Glasgow to check out the towns, there are so many and it takes forever to get to them 😭
Danny Dyer-esque... lookin' for a spot of bovva... it's all gonna kick off... Dumfries looks ok to me in all fairness... however being a beardy old man in an arran sweater I am somewhat alarmed by the lack of cask ale options... obviously dodgy boozers don't tend to sell cask ale... in which case I revert to plan B... Guinness... more often than not though this is not a great idea... it seems a shame that ales native to these islands are poorly kept... and I'm not going down the Foster's, Carling, Coors road. Why do Brits drink terrible beer ?
Cask ales are dying. Is a shame to be fair, they are very weak now aswell!
He liked a swally oor rabbie burns fair done the touring and the pumping 😂
My pals and I did a shite pub crawl there and honestly, you’ve just scratched the surface mate 😂. You’d be totally bladdered trying to do them all! There must be 25 pubs in the town centre.
Mate i know, can do 3 nights and never hit the same pub!
I work part time in a bar up in Thurso, its mostly a quiet town but there are a handful of bars. Its a shame though that through the nears a good number of them have closed down.
Yeh i did NC500 last year and those small towns have suffered. Shame
@@honestplaces Hope you enjoyed it, it is a nice part of Scotland that if you are ever able to stay for 2-3 days at a place you learn SOO much if you ask a few locals.
When I used to work in hotels, during breakfast talking to guests I would tell them about the village and small local legends and myths.
Alot of folk appreciated it because otherwise they would missed it all.
And a lot of bigger companies have been getting in to the NC500 route over last couple years. Victim of its own success and alot of roads cant handle the trafic.
Ayr has some rough pubs and plenty of them
Where Robert the Bruce started his ascendancy….better known for Burns……rains hard….that river floods the whole area….been flooding since Moses was a boy…..no money gets spent South of Glasgow…..
Think you should give Carlisle a try mate few proper ropey pubs here to try
the amount of times you said "arms" instead of the right name 😂
Mate i know, noticed it when editing 🤣
Prague yesssssss, the most beautiful birds in the world
You know it
@@honestplaces cheers mate your vids are class, good on you.
You missed maryhill in Glasgow 😉
Keep up the good work 👏
Cheers pal, really appreciate it 👍
My old man is actually Robert Burns (Well, shares the same name haha) The hole in the wall looks like a nice little boozer!
6:19 already hammered lol
🤫🤣
Ky favorite channel on the Tube
Props to the world's end pub playing HailMary 2pac lol
Bangin
Loved that pub when it was called the joker. Must be 40 yrs since I was in it.
Love watching your channel. New subscriber
Cheers pal
Compare to almost all Scottish Central belt towns Dumfries is NOT rough, a bit run down nowadays yes but a £20 million revamp is on the cards. Very nice range houses on outskirts and housing developments underway.
Huge demand for private houses
Most towns in Northern England are also far more neglected than Dumfries, it was voted best place in UK to stay in 1990s.
0:54 That looks like Neil from the Young Ones TV comedy show.
Fucking shite lookalike.
I did not expect to hear 2pac Ambitionz of Ridah blaring out in a Scottish pub 🤣👌
I could point you in the direction of much more dodgy areas than Dumfries mate. As one bloke says below try Bathgate, West Lothian. Also there's Drumchapel, Blackhill, Possil, Easterhouse, or Castlemilk which are all in Glasgow. Just outside Glasgow, try Cumbernauld.
Down south try Luton, Basildon, Hounslow, Peterborough, or Chelmsley Wood- which is West Midlands.
#GlazersOutNow
Too many pubs to get into init! 😭🍺 down south ones looks a shout!
#IAGREE
lol Bathgate dodgy? Its a commuter town with links to Edinburgh and Glasgow (a lot of professional people), has a community theatre and a bit too many posh venues to be dodgy. All the old mens pubs which could have been classed as dodgy are shut or have been revamped. Apart from Linlithgow its probably the safest place in West Lothian.
@@harryhill8543 Last time I was there it was an absolute Sh***hole. It was renowned for battles between them and Livingston. Whitburn which is just down the road is an absolute Cowp also! A good pal of mine from Bathgate couldn't wait to leave the place. Now granted that was 25 years ago. Are you telling me that Bathgate has gone through a massive improvement programme since then? It would have to have tens or maybe hundreds of millions spent on the place, huge housing developments, masses of brand new sports and arts facilities opened up along with many coffee shops and top restaurants. Under the SNP I'd be amazed especially as they have been cooking the books and helping themselves to tax payers money and buying themselves top of the range motorhomes 🤣
Cumbernauld?? You're at it! 😂😂😂
@@leannecampbell4551 No seriously. Last time I went for a pint in Cumbernauld the boozer had bars across the windows 😱
i had a local BURNS TAVERN IN ROCHDALE . its flats now
It's all kicking off.
Hey Dan top name only saying that as its mine to. Great content love it, where you from brother? Seen you on Wendels vid as his northern muscle 😂 I'm in Salford
What's the splitting game, whoever stops sip closest???
Good luck with your next adventure
Yeah, boii ,
Cheers pal
Shout out to Belhaven Best. Love the stuff. They used to do Belhaven Black which was a great stout but I don't know if its still going
Yeah, Belhaven Black is still being brewed. I've come across it in a couple of pubs in Northumberland recently. I found it quite nice, and I'm not usually a massive fan of Belhaven beers.
Dumfries is a nice place been there a few times
Robert's burns sounds like a firework.
@honestplaces try the Black Country specifically Tipton
Go for a pint in Kelty in Fife if ye want rough!
No lack of watering holes.
Deffo!
The crumpets not bad either, chavvy easy birds that love the English, ask any squaddie!
What happened to the Salutation Arms?
Sacked it off for the globe opposite init
I get the point in the video is to visit dodgy pubs and that will usually mean fairly basic selection of beers. Still theres a whole lot of better scottish beers and lagers than the ones you are drinking but tends to be found in more upmarket pubs. If you like the heavy try finding a place that does 70 shilling. Thats classic.
The second pub you went in (Globe Inn ) is booming on a matchday if Queen of the South are playing at home (ground is a 5 minute walk away)
That was probs my fav!
Galashiels is canny, the glue pot was rough as a badgers backside,
I travel to the town every week, but honestly, Dumfries is a dead zone.
I honestly think it won’t be long until the town ends up the same way as Ayr.
Boarded up and marked as a place where old people come to die.
It’s no place for the Youth.
The only remotely “intense” or noteworthy thing that happens is whenever the banks burst and the Whitesands and streets are flooded.
Today, I was walking a long a small park by the river only to hear a bike coming up to me with a couple of wee Neds saying “Merry Christmas ya bawbag!” before attempting to throw a small stone(?) at me and filming it.
