And not a black rubbish bag in sight.......im a Brummie and it made me so angry of how certain members of the local communities in our City have so little regard for their surroundings 😢Disgrace
To be honest i didn't see any, was abit dark though but yeh nothing like Birmingham pal 👍
Import third world become third world.
@@tonemc6047 yep
I’m a Brummie and they are savages
Not "multicultural" in Bangor thankfully.
I travel a lot and love going into random (non chain) pubs. I love the way that just about all of the pubs you went in there had the Welsh flag proudly displayed.
I am not Welsh but the Welsh flag is the best design for a flag ever! 😊
@@yellard6785 Union Jack is much more vibrant to look at.
@@petersavage9456 It's better than many but no way as good as
the Wesh one... Ignoring (if it was possible the history) the Nazi flag is more striking than the UJ..
Union Jack doesn't represent the whole union
Representation of NI , England, and Scotland.
Fuck the Union Jack and all those who like it.....politely, of course
All these pubs look decent! Probably one of the most positive episodes of Honest Places!
Bangor is a nice area, compared to where I am down in the South of Wales.
best thing i find about small working class pubs is that you don't need to be with a big crowd to enjoy yourself, can just sit and have a few and talk to locals and it's a great crack
So true mate 👍
I believe you mean 'craic', unless you were actually rocking up in your local
Spot on. no egos
@@rjones2401there’s always 1 🤯🤯
@Reece-Mincher3601 it was crack first. It only became craic in the 20th century
I enjoy watching all these videos of you checking out the local spots. Keep up the awesome content!
Cheers pal, really appreciaye it 👍
I am the owner of the Skerries in Bangor. I'm a subscriber to your channel and watch all of your videos.
I have my back to you behind the bar as you come in, as I was sorting something out for the staff.
I knew that you were popping to Bangor when you mentioned it at the end of the Birmingham episode, and I was hoping to have a pint with you when you came in? Im gutted that I was pre-occupied and didn't notice you.
Maybe another time, all the best 🍺
🤣 no way. Thanks pal 👍 great bar, remember going in a while back and deffo was glad to return. Yeh shame couldn't of had a pint 👍
Interesting. I'm from Bangor and thought the Nelson was still a no go. It looks pretty decent now👍
I was just surprised to see you behind the bar tbf 😂
@@TheScotinwales ya cheeky sod 😂😂😂
@@patrickrevilles723 😂😂
I love the feel of your videos man, so chilled out just going in and out of different pubs for pints, makes me wanna do a pub crawl so bad!
Do it
Love this kind of content. A real review of pubs. No censorship,
I found your channel about a month ago. Your content is entertaining and even though you say you go to the pubs in 'rough areas' the people are genuine and not up themselves. Keep em coming.
They are the best welcoming one. Cheers pal, really appreciate it 👍
The 'rough pubs' are the best pubs... just as long as the local nutter doesn't want to stab you. It's the trade off regarding the soulless big city bars😂
Just found your channel yesterday - subscribed. Love the videos, me and a couple of mates have been doing this for years and so it's cool to find your vids. Keep up the good work!
The Lord Nelson, ugly outside, beautiful inside. What a change from the last video. You went from the ghetto to Beverly Hills.
Beverly Hill billies more like haha
Thank you. We've pit a lot of work in to the pub.
The painting of the outside has begun!!
The bouncer telling you paddy's was rough! Missed a few good pubs too, enjoying the videos, so nice to see Bangor 👌
Got too drunk to get to them all. Cheers pal 👍
Paddy's ain't even rough, had many a night in there during my uni days, great city!
It’s a student city, it’s only ‘busy’ during uni term times, most just stick to weather spoons and head down to the club. Get over to Caernarfon or Conwy decent day drinking spots.
Brilliant videos in Bangor l love going to different pubs when i have a weekend away in wales .its a shame so many have closed
Really good channel m8, raw and honest reviews. Grew up in a lot of places like this and used to go to a lot of run down rough places
They are the best places init! Cheers pal, really appreciate it 👍
Just seen your the article on Nottinghamshire live news, enjoy watching your content and you know how a good head is on a pint , best of luck with your channel 👍
Really? You got a link pal? Cheers mate
Only recently came across your channel. Good work mate, keep them coming! P.s. I grew up in North Wales. If you want rough, try Rhyl
Bangors my birth place good to see around 🏴
Boss place for a night out 👍
Nice one buddy. It was like going on a pub crawl with leaving my sofa 😂. I love visiting different places to check out the local pubs and wildlife etc, some places I’m welcome others I ain’t 😂. Keep up the good work 👍
I'll spend the money for you and you can save money and watch 🤣
Sounds good to me 👌😂
“Pretty dodgy, it’s not dodgy” haha brilliant.
Great video as ever man!
Absolutely love these! As a huge Wigan Warriors fan, I’d love you to do Wigan. 🥧 🍺 🏉❤️🤍🍒
Cheers pal. Yeh i'll get to Wigan at some point
Good video, you brought your mate with you more the merrier as they say , looks okay there in Bangor. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to share 😎
Can only have 2 on my own, anything more you need a hommie! Cheers pal 👍
look forward to seeing Scotland!!!
Me too!
No we don’t.
That Mostyn looking a banging local, be deadly living across the road from there!
Am I the only person to see the humour in this comment after watching the video clip?
I used to live around the corner, and yes it was deadly!
Great upload mate, love the content, everyone loves a happy hour, least ur not wading ur way through trash this time 😉
Cheers pal....yeh it was nice to be litter free 🤣
Top channel this one , thanks , really interesting again !!..🤪
Nice one mate, appreciate it 👍
The happy hour confusion made me crack up xD
Those pints looked delicious ! Your vids make me want a Guinness more than the Guinness ads on TV ?
Love these random trips to rough pubs. Loads of scope for the channel by going around the UK.
Cheers pal, appreciate it!
This pub doesn’t look rough to me
Love your videos. That barman in the Mostyn Arms reminded me of the actor Tim Healy
Cheers pal. He was proper sound him 👍
@@honestplaces Keith Bach (Bach being Welsh for little) he's proper sound
Love this . I was here many years ago.
Get yourself back. Cheers pal
The first Barmaid seemed lovely defo head threre for a pint if ever in the area
Yeh she was....had good info on the area too
Those pubs looked pretty ok mate, so did the Guinness, a refreshing change from horrible handsworth though!
They were half decent pal! Yeh it really was 🤣
They look comfy and clean but "Gastro Pub" they ain't! 😅
Good vid mate, nice SMP too 😎
Loving the content keep them coming 👍
Cheers pal. Appreciate it 👍
Not rough at all in fact looks like paradise compared to your recent walk round that area of brum lol .... keep up the vids like the oldy worldiie pubs so juch more character
Yeh it is paradise compared. Cheers pal 👍
Love the looks you when you walk in off the regulars😂.
Whos these lads
🤣🤣🤣
Nice one mate, recently found your videos and love seeing all these random pubs. Aye get to Glasgow, my hometown, go to the home of my football team Partick Thistle, a place called Maryhill, loads of proper old man proper pubs, dunno if you will come back out some of them though😂 you might a few scars to get in them👍 Take care big man🍺
I'm really excited to pal 👍 appreciate the comment mate
No don’t get to Glasgow.
You and ya mate falling out cos of Guinness lol
At least they know how to pour Guinness unlike the last pub in Brum! Edit: new sub, can't beat old school pubs - becoming rare!
That is true. Cheers pal, appreciate it 👍
I love Bangor. Had you turned right as you were walking back up from Paddy's, there was a great dive bar up that street. Full of locals. Sound as pounds the lot of them but sometimes it maybe a little grim. I can't remember the name of it. I do remember the students were terrified of going in there. It might no longer be there but I hope it still is.
Yeh the people are sound there....proper mint place for a sesh
Im sure the Irish would've been proud of that pint of Guinness. It looked fantastic 😛😛😛
It was bangin
It most certainly is a Cathedral!
Next time in Bangor do upper Bangor. Paddys, the Globe, the Menai. 👍
Would have loved to have seen what was on the “Don’t get barred” sign on the entrance to the Mostyn…
Like a how to guide for trouble makers.😆
Possibly do a price check on the pool tables? Called into rando pub up the valleys other week, 30p a game (decent table too). £1.50 - £2 a game in Cardiff pubs I use 😮
£2 a game! Jeeeez
I used to live in Bangor years ago when I went to university there. I lived in Birmingham too for nearly 10 years (Stockland Green, Erdington and Wylde Green) and they are different worlds. Some parts of Bangor are pretty rough though too but overall it's OK and quite safe. I live on Anglesey now and it's very quiet there. Menai Bridge is a nice town it's well worth a visit👍
Not long found your channel, awsome content mate great to watch 👍. Gives people an insight or ideas where to go 👍 Where are you from.
Cheers pal, really appreciate it 👍
Not far from Huddersfield pal
Ah OK mate I couldn't be sure if you were Yorkshire/manchester. 👍
The Lord Nelson in Urmston is worth a visit. Holt's pub, they brew their own version of stout called, "Trailblazer." I think you'd like it.
Used to frequent there in my 20's, buy a packet of Park Drive and sink a gallon of Holt's bitter, sat happily puffing away in the front room affectionately known as, "The Chapel of Rest." Happy days.
To be fair I'd have no issue drinking in any of these bars , looked far safer than any Mancunian offering 🤣
Scotland next , I remember drinking in the Gorbals back in the 80's....now that was an experience
It's called the Nelson Arms because the Menai Strait is apparently where a young Nelson learnt navigation. He said if you could sail through the Menai Strait, you could sail anywhere.
what camera do you use in the pubs mate, do you make it obvious you are filming etc?
If i get the vibe i just use my hand held....if abit awkward i switch to kinda hidden 2nd one 👍
Enjoyed your videos. I moved from Handsworth Wood ( your last video)to Anglesey where I worked in Bangor many years ago. The bars you visited seemed a bit tame but it was early. The locals told me to avoid certain bars where an English accent was not welcome. Home to Welsh Nationalists. Things could get tasty.
Suggest you call in on Chester when you head North to Scotland Place of my youth and lots of great bars to wander around. You may want to avoid those frequented by the squaddies from the local army camp.
I've lived just outside Bangor for 23 years with a London accent never had 1 bit of bother in bangor, Bethesda, cfon, etc. Mate
Been to Bangor plenty of time's but not drinking, the pubs and bars look pretty good too me
Hey love your content. Can you do Burnley one day. Sound be some good content there pal ! 😃
"Crumpet" 😅, Love that.
Go via Barrow-in-Furness on the way up to Scotland. Loads of dodge pubs around there!
Yeh that place is grim. Need to go back
lads you walked straight past the Globe - best pub in Bangor
I remember in Vaults a bloke tried to fondle my balls
You gonna be doing london / south east any time soon mate?
Great content
Cheers pal, appreciate it 👍
Do Caernarfon, plenty of pubs plus very welcoming
Caernarfon is rough lol
dunno why im strangely addicted to these videos , I dont even go in pubs anymore, you gotta do Rotherham.
I'll get drunk and spend my money for you! 🤣
I miss pub crawling, we drove in the sixties a bit naughty I know, you young people frowning 😂
It was Bangor Cathedral opposite the pub he directed you to - it's just small and has a church-like appearance.
Thought that... thanks for clearing it up 👍
@@honestplacesNo probs.
Bangor pubs look good love all the Welsh flags
Merthyr Tydfil was the nicest place to have a pint in the 90s :)
Been to Merthyr a few times when following non league football. Always found it decent and friendly.
Happy hour and no punters to be happy shame sign of the times in the pub game
Bangor isn't rough. It's run down like a lot of town centres but it isn't rough. It was a much better place in the 90s before all the big out of town shops were built, again like many places. You need to go to South Wales for really rough towns, we're much more civilized in North Wales 😉😅
I don't think he recommended The Castle, he just gave you a direction to the nearest pub, as per your request.
Anymore north wales visits, Prestatyn or Rhyl maybe?
Loads pal but about getting the time 👍
Morecambe, Carlisle and Workington next...??? Maybe Wigton for the win???
The list is soooo long!
Decent pubs them, surprised they kept so many open
Nice selection 👍
Didn't we have a lovely time the day we went to Bangor!!!
Go on a night out in Bradford for the next one!!
Try Cork City ☘️ 👍 cheap flights. Best pubs in the world says Cillian Murphy himself. But try the local stouts which are cheaper than Guinness.
Been before. Need to get back
@@honestplaces Sound advice . Low cost flights , wonderful pints but .... accommodation can be pricey .
Sorry if this is nosy, but are you making much from these videos? I noticed you said you're a bit skint but does these pay towards the trips a bit? Awesome channel and hopefully it'll keep growing because it deserves it.
No worries. It does cover the fuel and beers yes but not full time wage or anything 👍
@@honestplaces Hopefully if all goes well with the channel it'll fund trips to grimey joints in countries all round the world! Keep up the good work lad
@@EminemDisciple1 that's the dream 🤣 cheers pal 👍
WHEEEEYYYY Bangor, great pubs, Yr Glôb, Menai, Rascals, Skerries, Lord Nelson
Great
As a consumer of far too much alcohol I can honestly say never tried Guinness, closest thing I had was a stout once that was like eating a Sunday dinner.
I hate all that "chocolate stout, vanilla stout crap"
You Wana go to high street in Swansea... Some pretty rough places there... Or try the mumbles mile...used to be famous for stag parties as I believe it's a mile of pubs... All next to the Swansea bay :) love ya channel x
Nice pubs. Cheers for sharing. Man, really dig your tattoos. Have a link for the artist/shop? Must have cost a fortune!
Cheers pal. ONE WAY TATTOO, stockport 👍
Go in at 10 o'clock on a Saturday night 😂
If a town has pubs that are still open then it must be okay. But most of them seemed not that full which is strange for a Bank Holiday weekend.
People got too drunk the night beforr
First time I've seen the channel is the guy in the red you're mate or did you really pick him up to spend the night together I don't judge
Didn’t we have a lovely time! The day we went to Bangor. (Old tune)
Are you heading to Glasgow next ?
Cant wait for friday gonna grab myself a Guinness at the local.
The second pub(mostyn arms) and third pub (skerries) looked decent but the town bars were ropey. Never understood why some bar staff look like you've pissed on their chips. I'm in love with the blonde in pink top in skerries in the corner. Like a young Patsy Kensit.
Get yourself to the skerries then!
Skerries is probably the roughest one in video, used to be real problems with crack and heroine users int toilets
Hull City on telly haha
What is your definition of "rough"? The pubs you enter look decidedly smooth!
My home town. Left there in 2000.
To where mate?
@@honestplaces Abingdon, Oxfordshire. Know those Bangor pubs well.
Guiness looked good at all the pubs!
They all did 👍
Would love to see Dundee if you're up in Scotland.
It is on the list pal 👍
Don’t.
alibion arms is a blast from the past with me most likely long gone as im going back 40 years
Albion is still going strong on Bangor High Street!
Should have a drink in Flint next time you're in North Wales. Few pubs there for ya within about 5 mins walk of eachother
Come to Holyhead next!!
Been before. Dunno if i can hack it again!
Welcome to Birmingham Handsworth is one of are more culturally diverse area's as you can see are it's a beautifully presented reserve of natural beauty speaking on behalf of all brumys we avoid it like the plague
Always rains in Bangor .. always!
Is what it is
Hi love your channel, I'm from South wales, would love to see you do Newport, aka Zooport, don't get me wrong some pubs are pretty nice, also friendly, but there is a reson for the nickname.....
That first pub was falling apart the wooden windows was rotten and needs a lick of paint and a new sign windows fixing but smoking ban and prices of the drinks people struggling for money that's why alot get shut down then get abandoned i used to enjoy my cheap holidays in Wales years ago was good of that bloke to tell you the next pub is the cathedral sorry the castle 😂🤣🍺🍻
Go to paisley. Best pubs in Scotland 🏴
Zero litter, you love to see it.
