As a spaniard, I really love how intricate the interior layout of some of those pubs can be. Sometimes you have like two or three cozy rooms with their own style. Its really amazing. I believe thats something very difficult (if not impossible) to find inside spanish pubs/bars. I absolutely enjoy your videos showing us your amazing british pub culture!
Alot of them have a home room feel, where you could be in someone's living room. But in Spain you have great outside area's with sun which we don't have 🤣😭
You need to visit your overseas territories mate. Canary Islands are full of British style pubs, and bars.
Spain is wonderful and completely different to the UK. Wine and tapas being two wonderful aspects of Spanish life.

I just came back from the Canary Islands, it was near impossible to find local cuisine. Too many rubbish English bars, and pubs serving deep fried crap.

What gets you about this is how immaculate the place is , no graffiti , no dumped beds or settees , no boarded up shops by the bucket full , no litter on the streets . [ Crikey , can this really be England !!!] . That Pub Egerton arms , beautifully kept ,decent welcome beautifully poured pint , what more can you ask ? What respectful people that are left in England [ and there's not many of them left ] would like to live there ! Great vid' 5 star stuff , well done .

I live here and it definitely isnt immaculate! Better than some places, sure. But there's plenty of scruffy areas in and around the centre. Fly tipping, graffiti, litter, asbo chavs, homeless people shitting on the street. Same sort of issues as any decent sized town in the UK, sadly.
The Edgy Arms might be one of the roughest pubs I've been in tbh 😂. Some 'characters' in there in the evening. Looks better in the day than the night though!

Hello just found your channel and it's bringing back memories for me. My Dad grew up in stockport and my grandparents lived there pretty well all there lives as well. I remember walking around those streets back in the day and nice to see things are getting better. I live in Canada now but it's nice to see updated videos of the place. Thanks again great work.
Love this channel, I worked all over the country and stayed in digs. We would always look for the most ropey looking pubs. Always served the best beers and always had the most interesting characters!
I love proper old style pubs, northern pubs are quality, I've been up that way stayed in offerton, nice upload 😊

Good on this bloke for drinking a local ale. Our beer is the best in the world and ought to be appreciated. That Egerton Arms looked a right dump with no decent beer.

Stockport is getting better all the time. Plenty of building works going on but I don't know how Merseyway will ever look good unless they put a full new facia on absolutely everything. I like the way this guy uses 'decent' or 'half decent' to describe everything. 😂

Stopfordian here! Love the town! Hillgate is fantastic! At the start you walk past what used to be The Nicklson Arm.. I used to get my weed and speed there in the naughties!

My home town Bury is a good shout for a video.. Cracking pub just as you come into the centre called The Old White Lion.

Hi mate! Just discovered your channel today, awesome! I'm from Stockport and used to go in lots of boozers around the town, some of which are no longer there sadly. Congratulations on finding the Swan with Two necks! That is probably one of the only pubs that has been left in it's original state in the middle of the main shopping streets. It's always been a great meeting point when my step dad or boyfriend was able to enjoy a nice pint or two whilst us girlies did some retail. Two other places you missed was the Robinsons 'Bakers Vaults' on the corner of the market place opposite the indoor Victorian market, which used to be awesome back in the day with a chilled out jazz night on a Wednesday. The for a really dingy pub there is the Nelson Tavern, opposite the college, but probably rough as f*ck these days no doubt! Loving your channel, have you done Northampton yet? We have load of quality boozers round where I live now in New Mills, Whaley Bridge, Buxworth, Capel-en-le-Frith and Whitehough if your into real ales.

The Egey is ground zero on a weekend , you should have tried the Zoo karaoke ( Chestergate ] opposite the iconic Plaza.
Swan with Two Necks - twinned with a fantastic pub of the same name in Bristol......Roasty Spuds on a Sunday Lunchtime and great beer. Quite frankly, use it or bloody lose it.......
your vidoes are great thankyou i have lived overseas for 25 years and helps me decide should i come back or not. Your videos of nothern mill towns are scary including holmewood and dewbury even bolton and blackpool. Wow how things have changed probably go to prague on ryan air flights for a week rather than blackpool and no aggro

Well it looks better than some of the other places you've visited. There are people in the centre, the shops are not shuttered and its looks pretty clean. Also, I personally really like Wetherspoons - a great choice of craft beers at great prices.
Interested to know who runs the council and how the town is getting investment, because it looks like it is doing something right...

Being a Southerner (well West Country), never been to Stockport, but watching this, it looked quite good, seemed to be a fair bit for what I guess is a small town of Greater Manchester?
Went into a pub called the Pineapple on a little high street near edgeley park. Supposedly one of the roughest clubs but beer was cheap and locals were friendly
That used to be my local.. the mixers come out of 2ltr bottles.

Egerton Arms is probably the cr@ppest pub in the centre, always kicking off. Robinsons beer is pretty expensive for what it is but there are many decent boozers in stockport for sure!
Should of gone to the arden arms great little pub only one of 2pubs in the UK you can walk through the bar to another little room

it's impressive how much money is being poured into stockports new apartments, leisure and retail spaces
but the influx of new people is going to put huge pressure on hospitals, schools, doctors etc.

I think the Queen's Head on Underbank near Winters is still open? The Swan With Two Necks is a great pub and also known by some locally as 'The Burnley Duck'. The Egerton used to be a great pub with an aviary but went downhill rapidly in the 90s and was once 'Pork Pig's Pie Factory', shit dirty, head-splitting music, horrendous. It looks decent now but no bitter in a Stockport pub, FFS. Enjoyed the vid, thanks.
That pub in the background under the towers early on used to be a Robbies pub called The Nicholsons Arms I think, long closed.

The first place you walked past used to be a pub…. But Stockport isn’t in Manchester. It’s in Greater Manchester, yes - but not the city - it used to be in Cheshire before 1974

The “two necks” thing, should be Two Nicks - a sign the swan was owned by non royalty. As with this one, one in Leeds changed to necks. I assume they all have, though two necks sounds juat as wierd. .
