The answer begins with the landlords who no longer live in these areas They buy the properties & only care about maximizing profit even if it means they & the tenants running down the property .The more tenants crammed into one property the more rent to fatten the landlords pockets for the next purchasing of another property to rent ,the cycle continues .They will cut corners to make as much money as possible .When the tenants leave especially due to falling behind with rent the landlords simply dump the old & trashed fridges & mattresses etc & replace with pretty much old & cheap second hand furniture Instead of taking the old trashed furniture to recycling centres the landlords drive around early hours of morning and dump it on street corners If they renovate the property they often won't pay for a skip to place the rubbish & old furniture in They dump things anywhere during the night The owners of shops also drive around and dump there rubbish - because they don't want to pay the extra fees to have there own rubbish collected .They also rent part of the shops to tenants .Go figure if landlords put cleanliness over profit they would not rent to mucky tenants Both tenants ,landlords & shop owners are chiefly behind the dumping & fly tipping .It only takes a small amount of tenants ,landlords & local shop owners to make a road or area look unkempt.

You wouldn’t believe what that part of Handsworth used to look like it was a really up market shopping area on the Soho Road. And those little town houses used to be immaculate. In fact when I got married in 1971, we used to drive down Ninivah road and I’d say I would love one of these houses… Thank God, we didn’t get one . This pub was amazing, if you look in to its history it used to win Best Pub in Birmingham awards all the time. It also had the best food and the punters that used to drink there would travel from places like Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, Harbone, Coventry etc. It was very renowned and much loved. I still go in when I can as I had generations of family and friends that’s used to drink in there, so a lot of memories in that place. It was a great place to be and you would always meet great people in there. However the whole area has really gone downhill in the last 10 years as evident in your video. Certainly makes you think, these people who live happily trashing thier local community, what does the inside of their own home look like?

That's one of my local shitholes 😅 live in Rugeley Staffs so it's less than an hour on the train. In the summertime I like taking my pushbike on the train and cycling the Birmingham canal networks

@@honestplaces yeah, loads of old infrastructure to see and they're all nicely paved as well. Up here in Staffs the towpaths are normally mudbaths and the spiky shit almost guarantees punctures

That area is beyond grim, got the train from Brum and it was diverted along the line that runs through Winson Green, you could see the state of the place even from there. Benefits Street was filmed just around the corner.

PLEASE go to Liverpool, Bootle, Beatrice Street, Bedford Road, Hawthorne Road by kirkdale train station. It has rats, flytipping, the ally ways and rammed with stuff. It’s horrendous. There are all aslyum seekers there Labour shud be ashamed. It’s probably worse than this. Binbags, mattresses and beer cans. Flooding.

I was born in the midlands (Walsall) but escaped to Anglesey at the age of 13 when my father got a transfer from Birmingham to Holyhead
    Enjoy Bangor, some good pubs
    Student city.
Not much goes on in the high street as most shops have moved out of the centre.
