    I used to watch him years ago when he was playing for PSV Eindhoven. This was when he was at his peak. To this day I have never seen a player on his level. Ronaldinho was some serious talent but Ronaldo could win you the match all by himself. Many times I watched while he took the ball from the halfway line, dribbled past half a dozen players and score some spectacular goal. His dribbling skills were remarkable and on top of that he had blistering pace - nobody could stop him.
    Maradona, Pele, Ronaldinho, Best, Cruyff, Christiano Ronaldo, Messi - all Legends. But, Ronaldo LuĂs NazĂĄrio de Lima is the greatest of them all.

  • @Katkayz
    @Katkayz Pƙed 5 lety +204

    Ronaldo was the last great pure striker , he could do it all . Unlike most strikers now who heavily wait for service from midfielders and simply "camp"in the 18 yard box and tap into the net . Ronaldo could do it all. if the midfield is having problems giving him the ball because the other had good midfield, he could get into the battle and dribble past players and create his own chances and score . At times when he was far from goal and in an awkward angle where most strikers wouldn't shoot, he would hit the ball and score .
    His was fast , strong, great killer instinct, great football iq, he had great football placement . he just knew how to strike the ball enough to evade goalkeepers. he usually didn't hit the ball with great force like roberto carlos or cristiano would he just knew how to place the ball and angle where the goalkeeper would not get it . messi as well does that to many goalkeepers.
    With Ronaldo even he got older and out of shape , his eye for goal was 2nd to none. eg wc 2006, where he still scored 3 goals at the world cup. And one of his last seasons with milain in 2007 ( in his twilight years ) he scored 10 goals in 20 a games. those are great stats even for a striker in his prime, at 19 years old he scored 48 goals in 51 matches at barcelona and at that time they didn't have a great midfield to support him , he had to most of the donkey work , he was instrumental for taking brazil to 2 world cup finals and winning one .
    He probably would have won both world cups had he not fallen ill in 1998. at the time he retired from brazil national team. he was the all time top scorer at the world cup, despite technically only playing in 3 world cups and only being fully fit in two . if he was fully fit and injury free would have been the played in more . at least his still the 2nd all time top scorer at the world cup ( behind by one goal) behind klose who played in more world cups. His top 10 of players all time and i will say probably top 3 greatest strikers of all time. He was truly a defenders and goalkeeper's worst nightmare .

    Few reasons why he is the best striker ever. 1)When he was 18 years old, he scored 54 goals in 57 games for PSV. Then he scored 47 goals in 49 games for Barcelona next season (Lionel who?). Then he scored 34 goals in 37 games for Inter a year later. After that he got injury (his knee was completely broken) and after 2 years of therapy he came back in 2002 right before the World Cup. And at that World Cup he became not just the best striker of the competition, he scored 8 goals and became (and still is) the best striker in the World Cup's history! After injury, that makes all other football players finish their career. That's why he is the Phenomenon!

Players like Zidane,Bergkamp,berbatov,Iniesta,pirlo, etc on the other hand seems to always be associated with the word elegant when Ronaldinho that i also find elegant in his own way is more associated with creativity, spectacular skills,agility,etc. Maybe, and just throwing that out there, it has to do with sobriety,efficiency and speed i mean slow moves seem to be perceived as more elegant but once again it may differ depending on the perspective. oh and certain form of breakdance are considered elegant when others are not because leaning more towards sport and performance than artistic and the same could be said about ballet maybe but my knowledge in dance is very limited. She hit the nail on the head when she said "there's something different about him" .....you'll never see anyone like that again, scary to think he didn't even reach his full potential. Both feet like lasers, strong, powerful, electric pace, redefined the CF position before his injuries, used to drop deep in to his own half and play 40 yard passes to the flanks and was scoring 30+ goals a season as a teenager. Didn't have the longevity of Messi and Ronaldo but 18-21 was definitely on the same level as Ronaldo and Messi in their peak. Played in weaker teams also at Barca and Inter in that era, those real and Barca teams that Ronaldo and messi played in are up there with the best club teams of all time. To come back after those injuries and win the world cup in 2002 is a testament to his will and determination to leave his mark on the game. I was lucky enough to see him live and to see him very close for all the games in San Siro of the 97/98 season. It was impressive. Crazy ball control and all at exaggerated speed. Always 3, 4 or 5 defenders on him, and one thing that is not seen but that always happened is that the defenders of the Italian teams often beat him with tackle at the limit of regularity.

    I will not argue with anyone, let no one cheat you about Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi or Mbappe, this is the greatest footballer of all times and the father of modern football. He won ballon D'Or at 19 and 20 years, the only one to have won it below 23 years. Defenders did not know what to do with him and so they broke both of his knees. He is the only player in the world to have partially recovered from such a surgery, and imagine what, he still won Ballon d'Or after staying off the pitch for more than 3 years. This is guy is the Michael Jordan of football!

    Hello Allure Vision, Great Video!!! Makes me very happy to see that you enjoy seeing Ronaldo play and that you appreciate the sport. Ronaldo is without a doubt one of the greatest players of all time. He is Brazil's 2nd top scorer behind The KING PELE. He was a member of three World Cup's finals from 94 to 2002 (winning two and one runner-up). He was for some years the World Cup ALL-TIME Leading Top Goal Scorer with 15 goals in 4 tournaments, won multiple Copa Americas, & Ballon D'Or awards. Unfortunately he suffered most or maybe half of his career with injuries to he's knees and ankles. Believe me when I say that I sure miss seeing him play all those years ago.

Only one can challenge him is Diego! Love CR7 and no hate for Leo, it was a time of legendary defenders and only two full-backs used to charge forward, they were his teammates; Cafu & Carlos! He had to break walls after walls to score and boy he did that with style. His Inter days were best tho.

I've seen him live many times at the Camp Nou, Santiago Bernabéu, and he was the only player who was scary, he took the ball in the center of the field and arrived in 6 seconds dribbling defenses against the goalkeeper. There was no way to tear it down.
