This was so freaking HELPFUL!!! I’m such a meathead & I found this video to be the best guide out there. From the acronyms, parts & functions, location to install cabled conns, detailed overview of components, etc.
Attempted my 1st PC build following this guide & it was a total success. This is truly a helpful guide & series for complete newcomers with NO PC background/no-how.
    So ecstatic right now.

One thing to remember that everyone forgets to mention. Get a new, quality surge protector power bar. It's a $20 insurance policy against power spikes or lightning strikes, black outs or brown outs and in conjunction with a quality power supply will protect that nice new computer from that bastard Murphy and his law.

This can differ in practice. I bought custom cables from CableMod but I had to go with a set marked for previous models from EVGA instead of the one I'm using because the ones marked for my model were 12vhpwr cables while my PSU does not have 12vhpwr.
To be sure I did ask advice on the matter from both CableMod and the store I had previously bought my PSU from. Both agreed that the cables marked for the previous models should be compatible in my case.

My first build case did not have stand-offs pre-installed. None of the manuals explained to me that I needed them. My PC didn't turn on and I didn't know why. I was young and I didn't have CZcams. AOL was not a good source for me at the time. I didn't know where to look for the info. I took my build to CompUSA, where I purchased the components.
The team at CompUSA was awesome and replaced my motherboard and cpu and re-installed them with the standoffs for $100. They showed the computer posting to BIOS after they were done. They also walked me through what they found and how to avoid it in my next build. This store I'm referring to closed many years ago. The staff that worked there at the time were awesome.
Even though I've built quite a few PCs over the years, I find these updated guides very useful in filling in any gaps, updating best practices and finding resources to share.
I've only ever installed one AIO. RGB and Fan controllers are things I only recently dealt with in the past year. Maybe I will learn something new in the upcoming advanced build video(s). I look forward to finding out.

Great vid! Learned and built a pc from the knowledge from last vid (and Jay) a few years ago with my daughter. Now my son is building one. Watching this is his homework

Another trap for new builders is recently I have noticed that some Cooler Master cases have standoffs that are two different thread sizes. Problem when you get a screw stuck and can't remove the motherboard. Thanks Paul, I learnt something new today.

Thank you for actually building a “budget”/beginner pc for a decent price. Most other big pc you tubers seem to think that price range is closer to 1500

Thank you Paul, your chopstick method of unlatching a graphics card from the PCIe slot saved us ❤; We had a fried card to remove and clearance was tight because of a Dark Rock 4 Pro CPU cooler was installed.

Hi Paul.. I am Subscriber from India. I am following you from your new egg days. My first show I watched where you, Kyle & jenny answers the questions sent by Newegg subs. Till date I never got bored of content and I always like watching. I did build two computers one in 2015 (I4770K+970) and In 2020(Ryzen3700X+2070 super). I only referred to your Build and review videos. I also like your Vlog type videos like garage work, office setup.
This How to build guide videos of yours is a soothing video and I love watching again and again.
Your Tech news videos are very crisp and short. Keep up the good work and best wishes to your continued effort..
and Joe I love you, Subbed your channel too.

Outstanding Step-by-Step Guide for a Beginner to No How to build a computer. I had to learn how to build a computer from CZcams back in 2016 when my computer was bought at Best Buy and died days after my purchase and had to return to IBuyPower and they took 4 months of playing around just to replace the motherboard and video card that shorted. Unfortunately I still have to use it today with a B85 board, a 4460 cpu and a 750ti as I was forced to retire early do to health on a fixed income but I did build a High end gaming computer with my grandson 3 years ago learning from Paul and others years ago. This build does it all step by step.
