    There's a town about 40 minutes from me that has an actual church covered in Trump signs, flags and two cardboard Trump cutouts that are like 20ft tall. Theres a huge sign that says Trump town and theres an RV in the church parking lot selling Trump merch. The RV has a sign that says "I'll be back". These people are mentally unhinged and our justice system should be taking this more seriously.

      Consider what that ego will think, when they cook the election for him.
      Lose the popular vote, open oddities in some swing States, maybe a false elector here and there to clinch it. Whatever does it, in this hypothetical Trump becomes President-Elect by the thinnest of pretexts. Yet we both know this very ego will take that as a mandate from heaven itself, and....

      Because this case was simple. Seth needed to make it more clear here - ALL justices overturned this, not just conservative ones. The message is not Trump being above the law here, but that if you want to remove him, this was not the correct procedure.
      The immunity ruling will be complex, because they need to officially clarify that the president does NOT have immunity so they need to be careful and methodical. (they wont rule in trump's favour, be sure of that). The only issue with this is the time it will take, which is unfortunate, but if they don't do this right they could cause even more problems.
      Trump has never been playing to win here (he has basically admitted guilt), he is only trying to run out the clock now in an increasingly desperate hope he can beat Biden and pardon himself.

    I'm not even a US citizen, but your so-called Supreme Court disgusts me to the point of nausea!
    People, is there something you can do besides just waiting and preparing for your opportunity to vote?
    It seems to me that the time has come to let yourselves be seen, felt, and heard, by way of massive peaceful protests.
    What do _you_ think, folks?
    There are some people who need to learn that you citizens, you victims of trump, won't accept to be treated like unimportant scum.

    • @cameldung-on-the-walls446
      @cameldung-on-the-walls446 Před 2 měsíci +37

      I speak with some experience regarding peaceful protests.
      The one which I was lucky enough to witness lasted 21 days.
      And it was successful.
      This happened in Bolivia in 2019 (I'm Norwegian myself, and I've lived here in Bolivia for most of my life).
      It was the people, of all races and from all walks of life, who finally got thoroughly fed up with the then president's various unlawful shenanigans to try to hold on to power.
      The final straw was when he and his party committed the most grotesquely blatant fraud under the election of that year, when it had become clear that he was losing.
      This nationwide peaceful protest, which included blockades/barricades where people took turns "standing on guard", and where someone always was tending to the "olla grande" (big pot) to help feed the people who were out in the streets making their presence felt, ended when the miserable president resigned, and fled the country.
      Days of unrest followed, and the creep (I'm not exaggerating, he is as much of a creep as trump is) directed, from abroad, his followers to stop both food, medical help, and ambulances from entering certain cities.
      This is not to say that there weren't, unfortunately, some ugly action from the side of the opposition as well.
      But with the presence of some international instances and the Catholic church, representatives of both the party of the then ex-president and of the opposition (consisting of several parties) agreed to install as the new president the person who was next in line after all the others (the vice president and a few more) who resigned following the resignation of the fraudster.
      This person, the new president, happened to be of the opposition.
      I could go on and on, as so much (crazy stuff) has happened after this.
      But suffice to say that under the next election, the people were, *VERY* sadly, dumb enough to vote in another immature & inept dolt of the same party as the ex-president, who has ended up being even worse, both in regards of incompetence and in regards of being power-hungry.
      And the following is a thing that I now am _unlucky_ enough to have some experience with: authoritarian people avenging themselves on their opponents.
      Much like trump is dreaming about being able to do.
      The aforementioned legally installed president (a woman), who was visibly shocked when she suddenly found herself in that position following the resignation and escape of the fraudster and the ones next in line, is today one of the numerous people unlawfully and cruelly imprisoned by the current regime.
      Take heed, folks.
      There are definitely better known examples from our World History that today, tragically, are only too relevant and more than worthy of paying attention to, learn from, and refrain from emulating!
      But even the relatively unheard-of Bolivia, and its people, offer lessons in what could be beneficial to imitate as well as lessons in what should be avoided.
      For my family and me it was a privilege to be present during this remarkable point in Bolivia's history (and Bolivia has a very rich history), and to experience, along with most of the Bolivians, the almost tangible feeling of relief which seemed to clean and energize the air all over the country, the day when the power-greedy president finally caved in to the will of the people.
      These days there undoubtedly are loads of Bolivianos who must be sorely regretting having given this particular party a second chance.
      Please, all you good rational US citizens, do all in your might to stop trump, and preferably also the rest of the immensely unwholesome bunch, the GQP.
      May trump and all his co-conspirators & enablers be held accountable and be made an example of!
      And don't let yourselves be fooled by a "less extreme" looking individual of the same party.
      The existence of the Project 2025 should be warning enough.

    • @everythingends555
      @everythingends555 Před 2 měsíci +14

      You would think so but their line of thinking is who enforces it. They made the decision that congress has to enforce it not the state's however they need to be consistent and this supreme court is definitely not consistent. That should mean other ammendments should have to be enforced by congress. For example 4th ammendment violations are enforced by courts if we follow the same line of thinking shouldn't congress have to decide and enforce those claims? That if course isn't logistically reasonable and would be disastrous for our country. I know I'm not a esteemed supreme court judge but in my eyes a federal court should be able to make this decision and arguable the most powerful court, the supreme court. They just punted the ball and removed the responsibility from themselves. I know this is idealist nonsense but the supreme court is supposed to be nonpartisan. Congress is absolutely partisan. When it comes to who should make this decision that will undoubtedly be a partisan one it should be the supposedly nonpartisan entity. The entirety of the supreme court has failed the US

      I may not like the ruling that's been recently made, but I do see where it's coming from. Basically, because the presidential election is not limited within the bounds of just one state, that one state can't choose who's allowed on or not. In the same vein, the federal government can't tell a state that they have to let an insurrectionist run for governor. If we're gonna get DJT off the federal ballot, it has to happen under federal jurisdiction- which is a problem because of the number of insurrectionists and insurrectionist-sympathizers who are already in federal office. IMO, there's not enough of a check/balance in this particular situation.

    • @everythingends555
      @everythingends555 Před 2 měsíci

      @@hauntedshadowslegacy2826 the problem lies in their inconsistencies on when to apply a certain line of thinking. Is it states rights? Do we go with originality on what we belief the forefathers wanted? Follow precedent? it seems to change a lot from ruling to ruling. I get their point of enforcement but again this is not consistent. How come a state court can decide when a 4th ammendment right has been violated but not the 14th ammendment. They gaslight as if this will cause chaos but it was a federal court that deemed Trump committed insurrection. If anything federal courts should be the ones to make this judgement. The supreme court shirked responsibility plain and simple to not have to cross a line they never wanted to come close to knowing full well a partisan body like congress will never pass. Imo I do not see how this falls under the scope of congressional responsibilities instead of the high courts. This legislation was already enacted it needs to be enforced which is the courts responsibility, this isnt like impeachment that clearly lays out the house impeaches and the senate convicts. A complete failure of duty

    The recent decision by the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) stated that an insurrection cannot be deemed illegal or disqualified unless Congress passes legislation specifically relating to insurrection. This decision raises concerns about the implications of such a ruling for democracy, especially in light of the attempted coup by former President Trump to overturn the election results. The protection of democracy is a fundamental principle enshrined in the Constitution, and it is important to consider the potential consequences of this decision in this context.

    • @gracieb.3054
      @gracieb.3054 Před 2 měsíci

      That's what the 14th amendment, pt 3 was for. If you commit insurrection, then you don't get to hold office. It said *nothing* about Congress passing separate legislation. Congress could however re-instate the disqualified person so they could run again. The illegitimate version of the Supreme Court punted the decision to Congress to obviously avoid taking responsibility for saying Trump did in fact attempt an insurrection. Took the case and decided it in a few weeks, whereas they are slow walking Trump's trial over immunity, b/c they *know* he's f*cking guilty and are protecting Trump as long as they can. The longer they can keep from making that decision the more it benefit's the Trump campaign. I have no idea what the liberal justices were smoking. Trump committed insurrection against Democracy and if they let him walk, they will be allowing him to become a *dictator*. This decision is abominable.

    I enjoy thinking about the people who have never watched Corrections experiencing the new reminder about Seth and his brother's podcast and wondering if he's lost his mind. Those of us who watch Corrections, of course, already know.

    Silly me. I always thought the Supreme Court represented us. Wrong!! I'm disgusted. 🤢

    Any federal office? So if someone from Colorado engage in insurrection and then runs for Congress from Colorado, Colorado does not have the right to keep them off the ballot even though the seat is supposed to represent their own state? President I can kind of see, but any other office makes no sense to me.

    That's what you do, leave it up to a Congress who can't get out of their own way. Now that's progress.

    I honestly feel like the “turning point” is going to be a state government just ignoring the supreme court’s authority.

    It’s always funny when Corrections bleeds over into the broadcast show.
    It’s even funnier when it absolutely eats sh*t.

    European here, why are there no big demonstrations, rallies, protests on the streets? In Germany people are on the streets all over the country for weeks now to stand up for democracy, because they see the threat through a right-wing/-extremist party...

      Because there's a group of young armed MAGA who will show up and make trouble, hoping to become famous like Kyle Rittenhouse.
