TBH, I could listen to Jay and Donald discuss automotive history and design for hours, even if they were doing so inside a rental Elantra. The Canepa Porsche was just icing on the cake.
Thank you for watching!
This was the era of aircooled engine and a light weight chassis. A pure 911 ‼️
The McLaren F1 styling is so timeless that Gordon Murray sold it again in the T.50 and it still looks completely fresh. Ferdinand Porsche got something right with the 356 and every successor to that design is just as timeless.
Donald, completely agree with your insight and commentary about preserving the original spirit of the car 👍🏼
Thank you so much for mentioning the 928…. And for not trashing it! Gorgeous and iconic car indeed. Love cars of this era.
Check out our video about the 928 here: czcams.com/video/NX63H8I0l34/video.html
You might not agree with Jay, but perhaps you'll find some common ground with Donald!
Had the pleasure of seeing this Canepa car recently and it's absolutely stunning both inside and out. Looking forward to part 2!
How would they get 400hp out of the 3.0l?
I appreciate the content. Very underrated! Please don’t stop
Thank you for your support!
When Donald accelerated the 911 at the end of the video, the grin on his face made me smile. Now, that’s a true “car guy”
We couldn't agree more!
You guys have the best jobs in the world!
We certainly agree!
I enjoy Donald’s attitude toward design, and how it is influenced by its time.
Thank you Mr Leno thank you Mr Osborne it's always a pleasure. I have a fondness for a 1976 or so petroleum blue 930 twin turbo. Destroyed one in one of the five boroughs of New York City street racing and would love to have one.
I was laughing out loud at the string to a carburator. I actually drove from Cincinnati to almost Dayton Ohio with weed eater string through the vent window of a 70's truck.
Donald is smiling and passing everything on the highway.
Nice to see Jay out of the denim
I love watching them drive through Portsmouth and Tiverton 👍🏻❤️
More to come!
My dad’s friend had one of these with around 600hp. I thought it was hyperspace when it took off.
The string throttle made me remember making a c clip out of a washer for a 1970 VW bus throttle pedal linkage that disintegrated on a mountain pass in Washington state.
I don't feel Leno gave the 928 the creds it deserves. It was a brilliant project, and a very handsome, innovative car. Yes, I also dislike automatics, even though they are faster these days... different argument.
"It pulls strongly." Donald, it's got 400 hp!
So different seeing Jay in the passenger seat these two r the best so much knowledge still waiting for a new episode of mansions n motor cars plzzzz 😜✌️ thnx Migwech from Toronto 🇨🇦🙂
Trust us John, it is on the horizon!
Thank you for watching!
A nice ride along video.
Glad you enjoyed it
You got to fix the Targa top!
Carb vs fuel injection. I read that ole Smokey Yunick said that at wide open throttle there is no difference, given the carbs are properly tuned. Where modern electronic fuel injection beats a carb is providing a controlled air/fuel ratio at all throttle openings. The carb has to rely on circuits that are like steps up to WOT. Mechanical fuel injection probably wasn't much better than carbs except maybe having more throttle bores to give better distribution to the cylinders. I remember the early 60's F1 cars that the crew had to squirt fuel into the injectors to start it.
Suzuki Samurai had a carburetor in 1989.
Turbo vs Supercharger debate.
I understand Jay...sitting as a passenger belted to not move , fingers crossed isn't the best moment. It would have been mor fun to see both drive the car one after the other and give different comment approaches to how they perceive it.In fact the car was just mentioned marginally. And driving Donald's new Ferrari would have made more sense
Don't worry!! Jay drives the car in part 2 next week! Stay tuned
Dear Donald Osborne you missed your calling, singing. I will see myself out.
Jay is letting Donald Drive?
Tune in soon to see Jay drive in part 2!
A canepa is a little green fruit that Puerto Ricans eat in the bronx. Weird that Porsche would name a car that.
This 911 was rebuilt by Bruce Canepa and his team at @CanepaMotorsport
canepa is not the model name..lol lambon
Mechanical versus electronic.
Jay's explanation of carbs vs. fuel injection, especially earlier non direct injection, doesn't make sense. I can spray starter fluid or fuel in the throttle body and if it runs for a minute and quits. It's not getting fuel. Same as a carb.
Porsche has been gradually moving the engine on the 911 towards the middle for years.
Have never been a fan of hot-rodded Porsche cars. And for goodness sakes I would be embarrassed about that targa top, fix it.
With all due respect Mr Osborne you should have bought a lamborghini.
Also carbed performance cars sound better!
