Just bought this case not 12 hours ago and he releases this video. I love it!
hey nickseekers, im gear
Good to see a sort of sanity check on air cooling a meshlicious case, love the B roll as always
Been waiting for this one before I start my parts list. Appreciate the content bro!
thanks gear seeker! this video answered my question, i have a big shuriken 3 lying around and thinking of giving this casing a try.
I use the HDMI 2.1 cable that comes with the PS5 in my Meshlicious. I had a right angled 2.1 cable from Amazon fail out of the package so I made the PS5 work by setting the GPU up a bit higher as per the instructions. It works perfectly though the cable does look a bit jacked up.
Also rocking the Wraith Stealth cooler with additional 20mm standoffs for the motherboard for cleaner cable management (cables tuck in nicely behind the motherboard).
Awesome video fams and a great video "FOR SCIENCE"
i just thought of doing this configuration for a HTPC, thank you for this video !! definitely got a lot of answers and saved me bunch of time !!
Im one of the 5 lucky ones that won a Meshlicious on Reddit!
I just need to figure out what to build in it. Thanks for the video
Bill Nye would be proud haha. Excellent video fams, very interesting results.
Nice build...
I don't remember which other CZcamsr tested fan configurations with this case and they found that a negative pressure setup with 2 140mm fans provides the best balance of cpu and gpu temps. cpu temp is slightly higher and gpu temp is helped a lot especially if the mesh panel is on the gpu side. Negative pressure pulling fresh air in from the sides, top, and rear.
This doesn't work with air cooling. As mentioned in the video with our original review we had a negative pressure 280MM AIO Setup. That had the best overall thermals. You might want to check that video out mate.
The thing is SSUPD could easily resolve the GPU port issue by actually supplying case feet to raise the height of the case for better compatibility with big DisplayPort cables but they don't. You can 3D print feet from their website but not everyone has a 3D printer... How hard could it be to supply case feet with the case, We're talking about 4 plastic pieces and 4 screws?
Just feel like i need to say this...im from the caribbean, and i sometimes marvel at how you lads can tolerate in 18 degree ambient temps. That is frosty mate.
It's me controlling the temperature
@@GearSeekers well yeah i know but man just to exist in a room that temperature
@@qT_p13 don't ever go to Iceland then. 18 is a hot summer day there.
Just put mine inside the white version yesterday. I don't want to take it apart ever again.
How was the build and did you use an AIO?
@@swizzler8053 I did use an all-in-one. Deep cool 280ex. While I'm on the desktop doing things, like transferring files and surfing the web it remains at a constant 62-70°c. I'm slightly concerned, and I need to going into the bios to make sure the fans are ramping up as they need to. Also, I could not fit the radiator right side up. It was impossible with how the outlets are placed. That's something to be aware of if you get the larger 280 all-in-one.
I learned that with a DTX motherboard one of the screws in the back of the case has to come out or else the motherboard will rub up against it. Even with the minimal amount of cables it's still packed tight. However I did manage to fit every single thing in there without a bulge. I can't say that about all my cable management situations in the past.
I might post some pictures on my Instagram (@jGRite) though I haven't used it in a while for anything. I have been thinking about just posting things on Reddit instead.
I don't think someone should buy the glass panel version, because it restricts the air flow too much. I wonder what are the results with closed panels but the grill version of those. I guess they should be similar to the open case thermals
Due to the laws of thermodynamics it will actually heat up your room the exact same amount for both setups (assuming the electricity draw is the same).
The total heat output of the system won’t change, what does change is how that heat is transferred.
This is the same reason why a cheap electric heater is exactly as efficient as an expensive one if they have the same power draw.
Yes, the law of thermodynamics applies to a space of controlled volume with no variables other than the input and out of power and thermal transfer over a finite amount of time. However over time (which is the factor you're not considering) the ambient temperature will be different. The total heat output and power consumption is the same yes but If you game for 20 mins and game for 2 hours the ambient temperature in the volume of space will be different. There are also other factors. You're assuming that every single room is a closed space with no window etc. That's not what I said. I wasn't talking about efficiency. I was talking about if you wanted to heat your room up quickly.
@@GearSeekers Ah ok, then the one with the lower CPU temps is likely transferring the heat to the room air faster, as less heat is concentrated in the case.
So the worse (higher CPU temps) cooler will raise the room air temp slower. And the better one (lower CPU temps) will raise the room air temp faster.
As a cpu cooler is basically a heat pump, taking heat from the cpu and putting it in the air.
I thought you were saying the opposite.
That all being said, I would deff opt for the lower cpu temps and noise any day.
Edit 2: Ps. Love your videos always great.
@@GearSeekers That is simply not true. If anything, it is the other way around. If the CPU consumes 200W in both experiments, and with the Noctua it runs cooler - it is in fact transferring heat to your room FASTER, and in fact will heat up your room faster than the worse fan.
EDIT: great video except for that
@@blackfalcon53 That's exactly what he said, I quote "it probably won't heat up your room as much" (09:44). It will in fact heat up your room the exact same amount, the question is how fast it will do that.
The video is great, and this guy makes some great videos in general. I just hate it when people are corrected, and instead of admitting a mistake they prefer to try bullshiting their way out of it.
Do you think you can investigate further how there's such a dramatic drop in temps by replacing the stock BS 3 cooler with a A12x25? Most reviews I've seen the difference was maybe 4-5C at most, but 20 C is really something..........
Meshliscious is just to sexy in cinematic mode :')
the right angle cable issue is more than a little bit annoying... in many cases it will be a showstopper, because it is virtually impossible to find right angle connectors for displayport cables in particular.
I have this case running a ryzen 5 3500x and a kraken x53 cooler with both fans as exhaust, I know cpu temps will be higher with that setup but my idle temps are at 45 degrees. No overclock, reapplied thermal paste and the works, any ideas?
do you think this Scythe Big Shuriken 3 is the highest possible cooler in this case? i have a setup with a Shadow Rock LP that needs to move to a bigger case because GPU and it looks like the Rock is 2mm too high according to the Meshlicious manual. what's your take?
I just built my Meshlicious yesterday, using a big shuriken 3 and a Cooler Master MasterFan Halo on the CPU. I had to modify the fan slightly, so the screws sink about 1mm deeper, then it fits perfectly. Couldn't be happier
Is it the same for all 25mm thick fans? Nick didn't mention anything about having to mod it when he tested NF-A12x25.
@@ailluinthethyra6139 I don't think Nick showed the Noctua setup. Maybe it can vary from one model to another, but with a MasterFan halo the screw heads were proud and prevented the mesh panel from closing. I used a drill press to make then flush. Flat head screws could work too.
They worked without modification
Could I leave one panel off and have a Scythe Fuma 2 sticking out the side?
would it beneficial to use noctua's p12 fan for the cpu instead of an a12?
Tech CZcams is tough rn. Hope you guys are hanging there :)
Looks like a large version of the InWin Chopin black version.
Watching some old videos, and looking for some ideas for a new PC. I don’t know why this has come to me now, as I have heard this song loads before…..though it’s got a Soundgarden “apple bite” feel to it
The aluminum pegs the GPU sits on can be adjusted in height, based on the cinematic shots, its looks like its only on the middle selection. The 3070ti used has enough room to be seated at the highest adjustment, allowing more room for regular non right angle cables. Give it a go, I have a Meshlicious build using the stock feet and I don't have to use right angle cables.
The issue is I usually use GPUs that are much bigger than the 3070 Ti FE where you HAVE to use right angled cables.
@@GearSeekers Very true, It's the biggest oversight on this case imo. The cables I tested and managed to get to fit while using the stock peg configuration as shown in the cinematic shots, are the Maxonar DisplayPort cable 1.4 on Amazon. For anyone that has access in their country to test them, I would give it a go. They are being stressed to the max at their cable tension relief points and are essentially being crushed into a right angle, but they work and I can get 1440p at 144hz with them. Just want to throw that out there in case anyone needs long displayport 1.4 cables. They can be hard to find at a right angle.
The only reason why I didn't switch to this case was mainly for that reason. Right angled DP 1.4 cables are unicorns
With aircooled sandwich layout cases you need the fans to exhaust to help the cpu and GPU fans
Just look at the testing lol. It says otherwise in the Meshlicious ;)
@@GearSeekers well colour me wrong! Haha thanks for the “for science” video, love your content guys! Keep it up!!!
I’ve absolutely no idea how you fit the Noctua 25mm fan in this beast. Mine is sticking out fairly significantly that i can’t close the motherboard side panel
Use the mesh side panel. It does not fit with the glass. I mentioned that
🔥
I really need to learn how to mess around to with fan curve to get the most out them I hate have to switch from silent to balance then extreme when I am doing work or gaming
Keep track of your temperatures when you are idle, when you doing something light on the computer, and when you're gaming. Then when you going into the BIOS, you'll know what your minimum, medium, and maximum temperatures are. Then you can set your fan curves to accommodate those temperatures.
@@jGRite thanks bud
don't you think a noctua l12s will be the best bet if air cooling in this case?
But man those a12 fan thermals were epic af considering the size of the heatsink but then again its an i5.
I can't test something I don't have mate.
@@GearSeekers yeah yeah i wasn't saying you should test was only asking opinion. But considering how cheap arctic 280mm aio is i don't think this case is made for air cooled builds.
@@datdudeinred Arctic 280mm AIO is a pain in the ass in this case and most SFF cases. 65mm total fan + rad thickness, tubes coming out on top of the pump instead of being repositionable on the side and longer stiff tubes is a real bad combo.
They're great for other applications though.
What about noise levels compared to an AIO?
The system is silent. Mentioned that in the video
Can I please get info, ( or, a link ), for the music, starting @ 1:27, and ending @ 3:34, ( playing during the build )? Thanks so much.
@Russell Barbee Nick created the music, you can get it through his Patreon.
@@akmarksman Thank you....

@@GearSeekers Thanks so much.
cool 😺
Why aren't there fans installed at the top for exhaust?
LOL!
Do you sell your builds afterwards?
czcams.com/video/MQLNU4x_up4/video.html
is that a lian li sfx psu?
It sure is
Just bought this case today for £85 new. Time to Google some parts.
The case is really good to build in. You can consider liquid cooling the CPU (fans as exhaust). As for the GPU, There are a couple 3D printed parts that allow you to add-on 2x 60mm fans where the ITX PCIE slot is.
Also, if your GPU isn't that tall, you can sneak in a 92mm fan on the top to be an exhaust too.
@@francois.m thanks for replying but I returned the case and bought a Lian Li O11 Air mini. Came out sweet.
Just replace the feet on the case, no more right angle issue. Most people are doing that
Or maybe they should include them. I don't have time to be changing feet or 3D printing stuff for something that is a design flaw
🌼❤️
Hejj guys!!
Hi
May our framerates be high and temps keep low
the colorful graph is hard to read, need to tabulate result a bit better i guess, but after pausing and carefully reading result i can understand it.
So it's specifically a YOU problem then LOL
The right angle cable problem is a first world problem. They are cheap and lets be real, its a cable nothing else.
Off topic but is it only me or he really looks most innocent guy on the internet at 0:01? haha😉
This will always be an aio build
Except if you want to air cool lol
I air cool and I’ve had zero issues
:)
Nah air cooling in this case is dumb.
A nice 280mm aio and a nice big gaming gpu get some nice crisp temps and acoustics
I think you missed the point a bit here lol
If I were gonna use a CPU cooler that small, I'd get an H1v2 instead.
