- Learn how to make the EASY Bobble Scarf or Shawl! You can make this design as small or as large as you wish. I used only one cake of the recommended yarn (see information below), or you can use leftover yarn from your yarn stash! This works up very quickly and makes wonderful gifts for the holidays.
Materials: 1 cake of Lion Brand's Mandala (#3 DK weight, 100% acrylic, 5.3 oz/150 g, 590 yd/540 m)
This is a #3 or DK weight yarn, but you can use #4 or worsted weight yarn. Just be sure to upsize your hook so you create the drape you desire.
The written pattern is available in both Bonnie's LoveCrafts store: www.lovecrafts.com/en-us/p/ea...
And in her ETSY store: www.etsy.com/shop/bonniebaycr...

What a beautiful shawl/scarf. You are a wonderful teacher and thank you for sharing your talent with us.
Hi Bonnie, it is a pleasure to follow your clear advices. Thank you.
This is wonderful! I love making shawls and have been looking for my next one. I love the bobbel stitch you show...so much easier than a popcorn stitch with the same effect.
Such a beautiful shawl! Thank you Bonnie!!! ❤
Thank you for sharing your talent with us..and demonstrating it so clearly...I love the colours.

My pleasure Riena! Thanks for your kind comment!
Thanks Bonnie! I love your patterns and how you teach them; I have this shawl and some of your throws lined up for my next projects ( gotta finish a few of my current WIPs) but I can’t wait! I really appreciate the sophistication of your stitch work and that you often demo on affordable yarns.
Thanks for your sweet encouragement Karen!😊❤️
This is so pretty.

As usual, lovely pattern and an excellent tutorial! Bonnie, you are an awesome teacher.

Hi Bonnie!! This scarf is gorgeous!! I love the Groot colors. I was just thinking how beautiful a poncho would be in these stitches with that color as well ❤️
What is especially nice about this shawl Is the bobbles makes it warmer, that's why we even need shawls. I'm making this one for my daughter for Christmas. Thanks Bonnie you hooked me again 😉 No one explains patterns like you. 💕

Beautiful shawl and you are a great instructor!! I am advanced beginner/intermediate level. With the way you present instructions I am confident I can do this. Thank you!
So glad you are enjoying these! Many confident beginners like yourself are able to make many of the more complicated throws on my site. As long as you take the new stitches slowly and aren't afraid of making mistakes.
Fabulous. Thanks for sharing
thank you for giving us such a beautiful project because to date you are #1 never seen such a beautiful model thank you very much
Thank you! I'll pass your kind comment along to my daughter-in-law who is modeling this one for me!

Thank you Drucilla!
I loved making this. So fun! I used some extra Mandala yarn I had left over from making baby items and it turned out great! I’d love to see this same stitch pattern made into a poncho.
What a great idea!
I just got a hold of some cashmere, I wanted to make a knitted shawl but this is absolutely gorgeous and I’m
A much more confident crocheter than knitter, so I am going to use this pattern for my cashmere scarf.!!! Yay!
That sounds lovely Cruisepaige!
Grazie, spiegato molto bene. 👍👏👏👏😊
Very pretty
Красота! Спасибо🙏💕

My pleasure Catherine!🙂
HI Bonnie, when I lost mu job, I was flipping thru CZcams feeling sorry for myself and came across your channel. I can't tell you how much you have inspired me! I have looked through your books and I can't find a flat cap crochet pattern make for my son and wondered if you would have a pattern?
I don’t think I have one Alexandra. Could you send me a photo of the style you are looking for so I know what you need?
Oh Alexandra, I’m so sorry to hear the bad news. I e berm there and it was truly awful but I can assure you that better days are ahead. ❤❤❤❤
@@BonnieBayCrochet Thank you all for your kindness! I am making my Christmas presents this yea, and my son is 34 years old. The cap is like his Irish flat caps, or some pictures show it as a peaky blinders cap? He has a head size of 23in. I couldn't add a picture and went to your blog, but for some reason my computer won't insert a picture, I am so sorry. Any help you can give is deeply appreciated. I watch all your videos!
@@alexandrac5773 can you email me at bonniebay@me.com? It will be easier for us to talk further about the hat. I do have a braided beret pattern with Cascade yarns, but I think this a lot different.
I'm going to make this shawl for my mentally handicapped cousin for her 57th birthday💞😊
How kind of you Tammy!
I just found you. Very cute pattern. I will make it soon. Have a great day!
Welcome to my channel JoAnn!
🎉🎉🎉🎉 Thank you
Love this shawl. I made my first shawl by watching your videos. I was so proud. Thank you.
How wonderful Lynne!
❤️🥰❤️
Hi Bonnie, this is a beautiful shawl/scarf. I will be making this as a Christmas gift for my sister. I have two questions though. Do you go around the turning chain at the end of each row or do you go into the top stitch of the turning chain because at the beginning of each row you go into the stitch. What row do you end with? Thank you for sharing this pattern. You are an excellent teacher. 😊
Hi Iris! I believe I worked into the turning chain and the video should show this clearly. You can end on any row you wish, but I ended with the row which works a dc & ch-1 across.
I love this and want to buy your pattern, Bonnie. Could you tell me the exact color you used of the Mandala cake? I just love all those colors so much.
I believe the color was called "gnome", but I don't see that offered on the Lion Brand site currently.
👍❤👍
Hi Bonnie! I’m a still a beginner so I wanted to ask which hook size should I used for craft value #4 medium, 5.5mm (recommended hook size on the yarn).
Great question Patty! I would upsize a bit larger to a J (or 10/6.00 mm) for added drape.
@@BonnieBayCrochet thank you so much, I can’t wait to make it!
🙂🙂🙂🙂
I love bubbles but disappointed that the bubbles aren’t very defined. Just a question, isn’t doing a slip st right after the bubble instead of a chain ,make them more defined ?
It could be the yarn you are using, or even the hook with the yarn Denise.
I'm a lefty so my bobbles will poke on the wrong side so I guess I will try an extra row of dc before the bobble row 😉
I do have a left-handed version of this design here: czcams.com/video/uPhyJANled0/video.html. I generally post both versions on my home page. If you can't find it you can do a search on my home page or just send an email to bonniebay@me.com and I can send you the link. We LOVE lefties at Bonnie Bay Crochet!
Beautiful work and pattern! Do you by chance have a written pattern?
I do right here: www.lovecrafts.com/en-us/p/easy-bobble-scarf-shawl-crochet-pattern-by-bonnie-barker
These links are usually in the video descriptions.
Thank you! Didn’t look good enough. Can’t wait to start!!
Pretty!😍What colour is this?
This is called Thunderbird.
@@BonnieBayCrochet thanks!😊
Working the second set of bobbles row 4 in the directions say “ work ing last dc in st before ch 2) dies that mean make a bobble? Then after corner says 1 dc in next dc and skip next, repeat from *to** not making a bobble there? Video looks like I’m suppose to make one in dc?
Here's the complete instructions for Row 4: Ch 3, 2 dc in first st, ch 1, * working only in the ch-1 spaces, (work 1 bobble in next ch-1 sp, dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1) ** to ch-2 corner, working last dc in st before ch-2, (dc, ch 2 dc) in ch-2 sp, ch 1, dc in next dc, ch 1, sk next dc, repeat from * to ** across, sk next to last dc, bobble in next st, 2 dc in turning ch, turn. (6 bobbles, 13 dc, 13 ch-1, 1 ch-2). So yes, bobble in the last st and then work 2 dc in turning chain.
@@BonnieBayCrochet I have the instructions. In the video you put a bobble in the st before the corner and after the corner, that’s what gives me the 28 bobbles. Or am I confused about where you are in the pattern verses where I am? I know you said not to worry about the st count being less or more on one side, but isn’t my count suppose to match the count on the pattern?
@@janetmenchyk9778 I would follow the written pattern as primary, and yes, the number of bobbles should match on both sides. There is a photo on page 5 of the pattern that will show you exactly what I did in my sample. Please feel free to contact me at bonniebay@me.com with questions if you don't get a response here.
I love this colors and pattern! Would you please tell me the yarn color name so I can get the same? Thank you!🤗 💕
I used 1 cake of Lion Brand's Mandala (#3 DK weight, 100% acrylic, 5.3 oz/150 g, 590
yd/540 m). I think the color was Sphinx.
@@BonnieBayCrochet
Thank you! 🤗 💕
Hi Bonnie, I’m new to crochet and wanted to try and make the bobble shawl. I’m confused by the pattern. I purchased the written pattern and it says to repeat rows 3,4,5, and 6 six times and rows 3-5 once more but on the youtube tutorial it says to repeat 5, 6, 7,and 8. Which pattern do I follow?
Great question! Both are saying the same thing (for example, Row 8 is the same a Row 4 and indicated in the video). May be easier to follow the written pattern since it is more complete with stitch numbers. Thanks for your support Sharon!
Thanks Bonnie!
Where can I purchase the pattern from please?

Buongiorno mi potresti dire il colore che tu hai usato per lo scialle multicolr mi piace tanto ma non riesco a trovarlo grazie👍
I think it was Thunderbird: www.lionbrand.com/products/mandala-yarn?variant=32421431541853
Grazie per la risposta ma ho cercato la cake sul sito ma non ha gli stessi colori della tua cake che ho visto sul video dello scialle easy bobble scusa se insisto sei sicura che è lo stesso colore? Scusa e grazie👍😳😳
I think laying the tassel down on the table as you primp and tie would be easier.
You can do that too!😊
How do I get the written pattern
The link is in the video description.😊
❤❤❤Γειά σας. Μπορείτε να βάλετε Ελληνικούς υπότιτλους παρακαλώ?
❤ Time Stamps ❤
Row 3 - 06:46
Row 4 - 09:13
Row 5 - 14:18
Row 6 - 17:15
Row 7 - 19:30
Row 8 - 22:20
Thank you!
I am really struggling with this project. I even purchased the pattern on Etsy. But I feel it’s written for someone else who knows, not someone who doesn’t. I’m quite disappointed and have started over at least 6 times and am still stuck on row 8. The video and the directions suggest that 7-33 all work the same. Not for me. If I put this down once more, I know I’m probably not gonna pick it up again. Please help.
Virginia
I would need more specifics to help you with this design. You can email me at bonniebay@me.com. Clear photos are very helpful.
Thank you!!!!
I put it down, calmed down, and took the time to keep watching the video, without trying to work the project at the same time!
I think I’ve got it!!!!
Thanks again!!!!!
