I’m changing up this pattern with the Suzette stitch in place of the rows of dc, until I need the dc as the base of the Celtic, it’s looking beautiful. I’m making this for my aunt, my cousin passed away Christmas Day unexpectedly in her sleep and her name was Suzanne, so I wanted to include all these beautiful stitches to give my aunt this shawl for Mother’s Day ❤️
How kind of you to do this Tammy!
What a beautiful thought. 😢
PLEASE, PLEASE READ THIS: Every time I see you use your lady’s Swiss Army Knife I’m overcome with nostalgia for my late mother. She had an identical knife, which I have inherited and treasure. She died of pancreatic cancer in January 2004, at the age of 77, and even when she hardly had the strength to lift the knife, she got me to open it so that she could slit open her letters and cards as she couldn’t bear to have them opened untidily. I was with her at the end, and still miss her every day; she was my best friend as well as a wonderful mother. So your tutorials elicit a sad smile from me. Mum taught me to knit when I was 5 or 6. She made all the family’s knitwear and when items were worn out she would unpick them, discard the worn portions, wind the (woollen) yarn into skeins, wash it and reknit it. I spent hours as a child and teenager holding up skeins for her to wind the wool into balls. Unfortunately she never mastered crochet, but she loved shawls and would have adored this pattern. I taught myself to crochet when I was 15 from a small booklet which came from my maternal grandmother and showed all the basic stitches plus thread edgings for handkerchiefs and household linens. Mum also did exquisite embroidery and taught one of my 2 brothers to knit at his request. He used to make outfits for my dolls and teddy (he was 6 years older than me). Thank you so much for all your hard work. I’m disabled and it means a lot to me. Love from West Yorkshire in the UK. Sorry to take up your time xxx🙏
What a beautiful tribute to your late mum. Thank you for sharing your story with all of us. Yes, I do love this little knife. I picked it up during a very special family trip. My husband surprised me and my 5 children for my 50th birthday and our 25th wedding anniversary by taking all of us to Europe for an amazing time. We had spent years studying history during home schooling and were able to see many of the places we learned about. Our favorite part of the trip was our time in the Alps of Switzerland, which is where I bought my knife. I keep it with my home studio in my recording box so that I don't loose it. Wishing you all the very best to you!
@@BonnieBayCrochet Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and sharing your own. I’m so happy that your little knife means as much to you as mine does to me. Your husband sounds like a wonderful man. xxx
@@obsessivecrochetdisorder3495yes, he is an amazing gift to all of us! ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing your memory and tribute to your mom Crochet Disco. I’m near Chicago and am also Disabled. I spent a summer at my grandparents farm in Ireland where my grandmother taught me to darn socks. There were 5 of us kids so that she managed to teach us anything was a great success. We all also had our own Dairy cow to milk 2 x daily and feed and clean up after. No army knives tho. Coming from Chicago, the neighboring kids would call us gangsters and yell “Go Home Yankees” to us, LOL.
@@nhyde567 oh my! Sounds rustic, but what a fun memory…at least mostly!😊
Well, I have to say that I've been watching you for a very long time. I've never tried to make anything of yours because they all seem to be way to advanced for me. HOWEVER, I followed every single stitch you made with this gorgeous shawl and yeah, I'm going to make this one soon. I'm in love with this pattern and you were so very easy to watch. Feel free to use a larger hook too! Will give it an airy, fluffy look!😊❤️

God Bless you, too, Dear One . . . This is my first time attempting the arrow and Celtic Weave stitches and I’m having a lot of fun trying to perfect them. It was difficult for me to get the arrow points to come together on my first two tries, however, I’m beginning to get the hang of it the more I try. 😂
Thank you for this tutorial. ❤️🌹❤️
Bonnie . . . My 75 year old eyes had a little difficulty keeping the skip two triple front post the next two and then go back to the skipped two and triple front post them . . . So, I took a longer piece of contrasting yarn and inch-wormed the contrasting yarn behind every skipped two with the front piece of the yarn, leaving the end piece of that yarn behind the skipped two I need to triple front post next. That made it much easier for me to get the stitches right the first time and my Celtic Crosses are BEAUTIFUL!
This is becoming one of my favorite stitches, thanks to you and my inch-worm contrasting piece of yarn! 😂
What a great idea Ricky! Are you a teacher? I love your ability to keep on trying!😊❤️
Thankyou for the very clear and informative tutorial of this gorgeous pattern. I cannot wait to make it. Thanks again Bonnie

You are amazing. This is the first time I've seen someone show the same creation with various types of yarns. Thank you so very much for this tutorial. I'm going to definitely try it out in spite of my lacking creative abilities.

I love the different textures and all the examples shown. It is so pretty. I’ll definitely have to make it with the hand dyed yarns I have

Bonnie, I went back to your tutorial on this Celtic st and got a better understanding. This shawl is so lovely I didn't want to give up on it. And I found on my kindle where to slow this down. Beautiful. You are a great teacher.
Those are beautiful!!!!
Never done the celtic weave before but the look is what drew me in. I loved it. Then I hated it as i was trying to figure it out! But once it finally clicked I went back to loving it👍👍👍.
Happy I stuck w/ it & now I have a new stitch under my belt. Thx!!
Yes, this stitch can be a real stinker during the learning phase!
I love this pattern!
Love the tutorial, I need to make a shawl.
Love this shawl, Bonnie! I especially love the colors used in the last (merino) shawl, and oh, the baby alpaca and the mohair are dreamy! (I just don't think I have the patience to work with fingering or sock weight yarns, but you're making me think twice about that with this shawl). I also love rayon/viscose yarns, too, especially for use in hot, steamy S. Florida.
Yes, definitely stick to the plant based yarns as you mentioned for that Florida weather! I grew up in Hialeah, so I know that climate well!❤️
Just gorgeous!
love all the different yarn same pattern thank you
